There's also so many threads like this claiming I don't really care about merit but secretly they do and hope that they just get merit for saying they don't really care about it.
I agree, but has this proven to be a viable strategy so far? I've read a number of similar threads shouting "I don't care about merit, we must make a quality post and get knowledge to invest and help our family, blah blah blah", and I haven't seen much merit being given out for these posts.
I would also suggest that if OP's aim is really to just learn about crypto, there's absolutely no reason to be posting in threads about merit, much less creating superfluous ones like this. It's all been said and done before, and I'm also going to put him on ignore just for starting this thread.
Maybe in time these people will learn. Maybe.

do care about merit, but more about giving it out to people who deserve it. I think it's an excellent response to the spamming problem, and I fully support it. I am hoping I start seeing low-ranked members posting stuff that's interesting instead of inane crap like the above.
