Another merit thread.lol I really enjoy reading this kind of thread specially when a newbie will post and then another newbie-jr.member will follow up in whining about the merit system or give suggestions on how to get merit and then the higher rank members will follow. Over and over. Life cycle of merit thread  Smiley Don't hate please just stating the fact  Grin

That's not right. Newbie and junior members are seen to be small in all places. And I think it should not be yours. Because you were once a newbie. And now in the present system, Merit is needed to move from any rank to higher rank, and for which the Merit source has to be dependent and the rules that they give is to be followed. Then they give merit as a reward. Hopefully you reach the high rank of Merit which was given by the seniors. And please do not look at the newbie and junior members in a small eye. They have to follow this method to reach them even higher rank. Even you also follow this system. So, be serious..

In my opinion you need to stop thinking about the merit system and receiving merits. You are still a newbie which already is telling me tha you just want to rank up to a higher level that is why you are expecting to receive merits from your post. You should focus more on improving your post more and don't expect merits to come everytime you post. Along the way you will be surprised on how often you would receive merits even to the posts you think are not worthy of merits are receving one.
I agree with that. Cause Even without merit, Bitcointalk is still a community that helps people to learn more about cryptocurrency. Merit itself is too scarce and only a handful of these Smerit is given every month so we shouldn't stress ourselves about this matter, We should aim to be a better poster and help each other out so people can see that we're trying to help out if they are impressed maybe they give one or two merit....👌👌

I think bitcointalk is forum/opinion which helps the people to discuss themselves about crypto-currency. But it's also a place where people can find earning method and people discuss themselves about this. And everybody knows that Bitcointalk is not a place for competition, it' forum through people can learn about crypto-world so that they can use their knowledge in their future work about crypto currency. So, the people should not make any competition, just learn from here and use them in your works. You will be able to solve any of your problems. Best of luck✌✌

My opinion, merit system is performance assessment. Merit isn't like a gift but reward. You know what I mean  Wink

my opinion:
1. merit system is good to stop some scammer.
2. but it is also a bad thing for those who are not scammer and not getting rank up for this hard system.

Actually it is very hard to get merit.
sometimes you are writing some good thing or good topic but you are not getting merit because a good viewer did not see your post or thread.

So guys! what is your opinion about this Merit system?

jes thats the case, but ts not realy that important to have a high rank in my oppinion,

my anger with the merit system earned me the red negative trust as i opposed it because of that issue.

its even worse that the mods are enforcing now their believes on others. but this will also age this forum ultimately and create room for other new forums

ps:
i gave you some merit btw. pharmacist needs to regularily hear the two medals of the merit system

How does the merit system stop scammers?
He probably meant "spammers" but he's the type of person who calls people on DT "devs", as in "plz dev I have did nothing wrong, plz plz.....remove fdback"--you know what I'm talking about.  The type of person who doesn't even know enough English to solve captchas.

Merit sources need to increase. Thats all.
I kind of agree with that, even though earning merits isn't a personal concern of mine since I can't rank up any more than I have.  I've often debated in my head whether I should apply to be one, but then I foresee myself pulling my hair out like Jet Cash trying to find posts that are any good.  Frankly, I'm comfortable not venturing outside of Meta & Reputation much, and I can't imagine it'd be any fun reading through garbage in Economics or other related sections where the shitposters congregate like bedbugs.

It's supposed to be harder for people to rank up now, but it shouldn't be an impossible task--the merit system wasn't designed to erect that much of a barrier.  More sources would definitely alleviate some of the anguish, but people like OP ought to realize that they're just shitposters and don't deserve merit at all.  They want something for nothing.

Merit was not created to stop scammers. In fact there is nothing that can stop a person from scamming another person. Trust can be a prophylactic measure but not a way to stop scammers.

The merit system is not "hard". Its soft and malleable  Grin. People are getting merits often. If you are complaining then you are the problem.

I'm pleased that it has generated some merit for you. I appreciate the work, and the thought that you put into that post.

I just shows what the cry babies are missing with all their 'mommy merit doesn't love me' posts. Smiley

I've lost track of the number of projects I'm running to try to encourage members to create meritable posts and threads. I'm having virtually no success, but I did manage to suggest that a member posted about the Bazilian economy and the truck drivers strike. This was for The Library project on my merit source blog, and I added the link here - The Brazilian truck drivers' strike.

The thread is in the Ivory Tower, and it's already picking up merits. I need some more really good quality threads to list there. Don't forget that if English isn't your first language, you can get help with the translation through the Fit to Talk English project.

This is the post about the trucker's strike

I am happy to make this small contribution to this project jet cash.

Create a new topic where we can discuss your project.(I don't know what is it exactly)

>_<

Indeed!! I thrashed out 3 minutes of my precious time trying to find something useful in his posting activity: https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/shahinameen-1334313

Nothing was found. The second time today I spend time in a newbie begging for merits.
Regarding the topic, from the last month each day we have to do digest topics like this one on the Meta board. Every day we have a newbie or a JR telling us how we must change the merit system in order for they to rank-up, but showing a lamentable post activity.

You want to rank-up?? Care your image in here. Make only good posts. Give us something useful to find in your post history.

You have 6-month-old registration, TILL now you have posted only 27 posts. It means you are not serious member od this forum and You are blaming the merit system.

Who post the quality post, he will get the merit definitely.

You got the reply for you post within half an hour with 6 members out of which 2 are hero members 1 sr.memebr. If your post had some good content, they definitely gave you merit.

More and more people have no ideas how to earn merits and try to repeat threads which they have just read. I forecast new threads next 2 days: "Merit is a evil", " Merits is absolutely unfair for Newbees and Jr. Members", "We should change these rules", "Merits is the best thing which happened at this forum" and so on. OMG Huh

More and more thread like this nowadays. I dont know when this will be over haha. But to be honest, it is an irony when in the title you said merit system fact yet your post is about your opinion  Grin . You dont get a lot of merit because of some reasons and if its happen to you doesnt mean it happens to others. I see many members get merits easily because they have quality in their self, which you dont have at all.

This thread, and the two newbie posts are examples of the problem that restricts the awarding of meits. Double spacing, and coloured text doesn't enhance your post, quite the reverse in fact. Also, the increase in low value posts such as those mentioned, make it hard for merit awarders to find quality posts, so they end up living in the Ivory Tower or the tech boards. This is bad for newbies, as their posts won't be read by those who award merits. Starting threads like this may get the poster placed on ignore, and that is another way to stop yourself getting merit.

Your best bet is to lock this thread ( the link is on the left below the last post ), and hope that it doesn't damage your reputation too much.

I agree that to get merit is very tough. I am like you ,I also get 1 merit till now.

Still I think,we still didn't not reach the level of quality post , which this forum require.

Every post have been read by some members. If we do our best,we will definitely get the merit one day.

Don't think so much about the merit.Follow the rules and post...

Don't blame the system... If we are not getting, then we have some problem in our post.Try to find them.

How many more of these threads do we need? Merit isn't that hard to get, but it is for those who don't really offer anything worthwhile in their posts. Excellent posters will get merit very fast. Average posters may take a while but will get it eventually, and shitposters will never get it.

How does the merit system stop scammers? It was implemented to stop people like you making low quality posts just to rank up and looking at your posts it obviously works. Which posts of yours deserving merit have gone unmerited? I can't see any. I noticed you already have received one merit though, but too bad it's for content you plagiarised:

here your answers.

It's very important to note that all coins or tokens are regarded as cryptocurrencies, even if most of the coins do not function as a currency or medium of exchange.

"Tokens:
Tokens are a representation of a particular asset or utility, that usually resides on top of another blockchain. Tokens can represent basically any assets that are fungible and tradeable, from commodities to loyalty points to even other cryptocurrencies!

Creating tokens is a much easier process as you do not have to modify the codes from a particular protocol or create a blockchain from scratch. All you have to do is follow a standard template on the blockchain – such as on the Ethereum or Waves platform – that allows you to create your own tokens. This functionality of creating your own tokens is made possible through the use of smart contracts; programmable computer codes that are self-executing and do not need any third-parties to operate. It really is super cool!"

Altcoin:

"Alternative cryptocurrency coins are also called altcoins or simply “coins”. They’re often used interchangeably. Altcoins simply refers to coins that are an alternative to Bitcoin. The majority of altcoins are a variant (fork) of Bitcoin, built using Bitcoin’s open-sourced."
