But then I read his potential solution which is creating a new board for merit sources to see members who wants to to rank up fast. Which gives me the conclusion that it is not all about the corruption after all but about ranking up fast, he didn't brialliantly hid the fact that he is getting a hard time receiving merits while worthless ANN threads are getting dozens or even hundreds of Merits.
I agree, they give their merits to a succesful campaign managers not for a HQ post but for successful campaigns that doesn't serve these purpose. It hoops down the credibility not only for the system implemented but also to the high rank members who was given the task to execute it. Maybe this is one of the reason why some new members are ended in spamming to show their disappointment.

You might be right. Those will claim for merit they are begger. But I make sound about corruption. How possible reduce it. I think we need to think about it.
The simple fact is that no policy implemented can be perfect there is no way and it's because it was made for people to use and their behavior cannot be predicted and defined by codes. I want to believe that at the time when the trust system was implemented, it was as if its going to solve the whole problem but just a fraction. When the forum admin stops giving ads space to ICOs, it seems that would end the era of scam ICOs but it didn't. Now the merit system, even though to me, its serving its purpose, a lot of people still will find fault in it. My suggestion, let it play out when its time for it to be reviewed it would and for those who believes they are to cheat the system with it, they can only use it once after its exhausted, it does not matter again.

Your suggestions is a very good one. If there's a separate thread where people can come and voice out that they're good posters and their posting history gets reviewied for ranking up, I think it will be good as it will give everyone who feels sidelined by the merit system an opportunity to atone for it.

I appreciate them those are given merit for HQ post. But question is there is enough time to find HQ poster for merit source or merit holder? How a quality poster get attention to merit source or merit holder ?
To be honest, you didn't understand the merit system at all. You are on the wrong boat.
Here no one is going to find a high quality poster and merit him/her.

You have been merited 4 times. That doesn't mean someone searched for HQ posts and got your post.
Finding a HQ post is not the job of a merit source. If it was a job, every quality poster would be merited. Forum is a place where different kind of people join for different purpose. People with the interest of what is happening in bitcointalk forum deserve to be a merit source, not a people who is here for earning only.
If someone has real interest in bitcointalk forum, he will definitely go through most of the HQ posts. So, of course, if something can attract his eye, will be merited.

I don't think people should be wasting them on bounty threads but there's no rule to say they can't, but hopefully people will realise that doing so is mostly pointless and their merits would be better sent elsewhere.
Enlightened self-interest means that they don't consider the awards wasted, even though it is destructive to the forum. This is why I am considering creating some personal file to avoid feeding the sub-culture here.

Absolutely you can make thread, those are abuse merit system we can post there. At least some thing is better then nothing. On the other hand every body will know merit abuser to stay away give merit them. I have post myself about merit abusing. But there is no action. That's my question. Even they are not punished , no problem. But those are working hard to make QH post, at least trying. We should give them chance, so that they will be more interested to keep this forum spam free and make more HQ post.
As long as people have free will then they are going to give merit to whatever posts they like and they're isn't really anyway you can police this really as it's purely subjective. Sure, people should probably only be giving them to helpful or informative posts but a lot of users seem to be just using merit as a 'like' button, and that's usually what seems to be happening with bounty threads (or they're just trying to kiss ass so they get chosen or something). I don't think people should be wasting them on bounty threads but there's no rule to say they can't, but hopefully people will realise that doing so is mostly pointless and their merits would be better sent elsewhere.

Honestly, I don't get this point too. Why on earth would any sensible person merit the OP of any signature campaign? Could there be anything HQ about a signature campaign OP to deserve a merit if not that they who are sending such merits are greedy shitposters who are only out for their bellies worth and in the excitement of seeing a campaign floated (after a long stretch) splash merit on it? I think the DT members should start tagging such people for abuse.
TLDR: O.P if it clearly shows that you have a hard time earning merit just spend your time to do something important whether (online or offline). complaining and whining entitled as a bad character of this community.

1) With current format, it is working good in terms of encouraging new members to make good posts to get merits. But the spammers who are here to promote fraud projects, growing accounts to sell later and not affected.
2) One of the most important benefit that I believed should have been reducing the useless spam, irrelevant and repetitive posts in discussions. That problem is not solved at all even after merit system. This makes finding good replies harder.

Your point is right. Even some one promoting scam project at the same time they also build their account rank by getting merit. So I believe this system should consider for upgrade again for fair merit system.
