The merrit system can work out to give a general idea how much people find a post merrit worthy.

I see alot of complains about people who are blaming others for giving merrit to posts that doesnt deserve it in there opinion.
The posts i find usefull or informative is for someone else maybe bullshit but yeah thats what it is.

Where the oldies in this forum are not easily impressed by any post the newer members are and if they can they will giving out merrit much easier.
The same for this example,  your a die hard miner that is a newbie inn the collectibles section.

Maybe it would have a better start if only the staff started as merrit source and the staff members from a section would pick merrit sources.

I gave you one of my sMerit because I though your reply was concise and relevant. I nearly didn't because I thought some members will say that I only did it because of your comments about me. I guess some of the comments by the charity workers here are starting to get to me. Smiley

Thank you very much. You have no idea how much motivation you just sent me. Honestly speaking A part of me is saying this is injustice. I am giving so much time to this community and in return they are evaluating me as a low ranked member. Just because I do not have merits (decision of individual most of the time they do not care) I can not see myself as a higher ranked member.
Let me ask you what are you here for anyway?
I'll answer that: Signature campaigns. Bounties. Shitposting. That's why the merit system isn't working for him/her. Smiley

Let me ask you what are you here for anyway? If you are only here to read, post and contribute to the community do not mind the new merit system since you will rank up eventually when your merits have accumulated. Don't think of it as injustice, to motivate yourself, just think of it as a challenge because by the time you get into higher ranks, you can call yourself worthy to be in that rank since by that time you have contributed a lot of useful post to the community.

Actually I did.
"1. Be a somewhat established member."

Do you think I have it? It all down to not having enough rank. Come on mate look how many post I made.... Over 200!!!! I am a member since not even a month. I can guarantee you that you will not find much creepy posts from me. (yes may be there will be some here and there but most of them are way better than others.)

Please do not question me about what I have not done. I am doing a lot for this forum since I have been introduced to it.
I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to offend you. But it still seems to me that you’re not giving the merit system much benefit of doubt. I’m certainly going to apply as soon as I have a good enough list of posts to present.

And in any case, we’re all allowed to use this very useful forum for free. Everyone can read and everyone can post. That’s actually all that’s needed to usefully participate here, no? Of course it’s also nice to rank up and be able to give out merits, but are those things really important enough to warrant all the complaining we’ve seen here this week (I don’t mean you, but in general)?

It's ok mate. I am just too much over me today. I do support this merit system, I did talk in it's favour (see few of my post from my profile) but seems like merit system is really not working well especially for the new members who need it to rank up.

Then why not apply to become a merit source?

I do not think there is a way to become a merit source or I would.
You don’t think theymos was being serious when he wrote the following?

If you want to be a merit source:

 2. Collect TEN posts written in the last couple of months by other people that have not received nearly enough merit for how good they are, and post quotes for them all in a new Meta thread. The point of this is to demonstrate your ability to give out merit usefully.
 3. We will take a look at your history and maybe make you a source.

I am especially eager to have merit sources in sub-communities such as the local sections.
Or might it be that you’ve been so busy complaining about the merit concept that you haven’t had time to read up on how it’s supposed to work? Smiley

# I do post a lot coz I believe contributing to any community build up the community strong. But look at my account I don't have much appreciation from the  higher ranked people who has a lot of merits to help me. I am not blaming them not to give me. May be they are not seeing my post. Do you think most of them have all the day to look for good post to merit other?
I don't know what you're saying. These?:

This is what I am expecting too. :-)

I m not even trading from last few days

If you post without much thought being put into it, you won't get merited. That's simple.
# I noticed when a high ranked member post anything then he get merits from other the psychology behind this (I guess) ... if I give merit to someone who had a lot of sMerit then he may give me some merit.

Explain me why this post got so many sMerits https://prnt.sc/i9i0tu  where my post got this https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/should-you-be-worried-2858083 (this when I am posting https://prnt.sc/i9i19c )

Go through my posts and comments on my profile then you might see my contribution to this community.
It's very hard to get merits in alt coin forums because this is a Bitcoin forum and not some alt-coin forum. It's up to an individual's personal discretion to decide what to merit and what not to. I can assure you that most of us won't merit those that are clearly shitposting.

You only pulled up two comment from my over 200 comments/post and trying to convince me that I am shitposting. Please go through my profile. See how many post I made, how many comments I made. At-least bring up last my 50 post then you will see what I am talking about. Guess what... I think you do not have much time for that.

It is really hard to be appreciated by someone but dont be frustrated about it and think of it as a motivation to improve more.
And bear in mind that this merit system is only new it is not even a month old. But i think thay in the future we will be able to adopt in this system and eventually the Merit will regulate more properly.

Agree that not all our post will be appreciated by many people even we did our best to make our post more constructive they only give merits for the most and best post in every thread. That is why many users always concern about this things but this is already implemented we only need to do is to follow because moderators finding a way to make this forum will be in good standing than other forum.
I also tend to give merit to the first good answer to a question, mainly because it takes knowledge and dedication to answer on the spot.

To become merit source you need atleast a high rank member with HUGE contribution here in forum.

I think some people award merit just to avoid the responsibilitty of awarding merit. They may dump it into the old boys network, or they may give it to the soup kitchens, or run the merit food banks for new members to curry favour with the community.

So yes you are saying the merit system is not working. For some it does not have any meaning but for some it is really really important and you are dumping it in the soup kitchens.  Roll Eyes

I did look at the first page of your posts, but, I'm sorry, I didn't give you any merit.

You do not need to be sorry. You have your right to make decision. You are doing fine I have seen some of your post. My complain is not for people like you my complain is for those who are dumping their merits in the soup kitchens. And unfortunately I guess the number is large for them

I did look at the first page of your posts, but, I'm sorry, I didn't give you any merit. This was because some of the posts related to ICOs, and I don't understand ICOs at the moment. The others were what I call " filler posts", these are useful to the board, but, with only a limited supply of sMerit, I'm trying to award them to posters who make unique points.

Always support the strong , give merit to the legendary , hero member. You have to impress them. I think weak account will suffer like this.

I don't know how many years will need to get one merit. May be you are better to get those 6. But I have seen many account getting merit for nothing (strong account)

Like it quoted "yes absolutely right " - get merited for this line. I have written 600 word article but none have given me that one merit.

I am just fade up of the system. I know you will give suggestion to write good article. And I will say thank you, I will try.

You're right about high rank member easily to get merit with simple post, just like that they gathering together as a group and cross sending merit.
