Good day everyone I'm new to this forum and I really don't know  much about how things arr done here
I'm clear about most of the things but there's just one thing I don't seem to understand
How do I get merits what are the criteria I need in other to increase or gets merits on this forum
Because from what I've read so far you need merits in other to rank up so please I need your advice on this
To earn merit in bitcoin forums one must create good quality posts. If good quality posts are created then surely merit can be earned here. But the post must contain educational information that other users know can learn something good by posting informative posts. There are many people who create posts that do not have any merit or information due to which they can't earn merit even after creating many posts and thus the rank does not change.

You should use the merits I have sent you to make constructive, good/high quality posts to contribute to this forum. I have seen other newbies who got discouraged when they did not get merits when they make good posts.
Any newbie that gets discourage from the forum because the merits didn't come the way they expected isn't supposed to be here in the first place. The problem should be with the newbie for not being able to make a good post that's should be merited. Sometimes the threads that one post frequently on go along way to determine if they will get merits or not. That's why as a forum user, one needs to be versatile when it comes to posting patterns. Being able to solve this will expose the newbie to different threads, and that will increase the chances of his  posts being noticed and merited. If the merits ain't coming, the newbie should improve his posting patterns instead of being discouraged from the forum.
Getting merit should not be the priority of any newbie, they should first focus on understanding the forum rules, focus on the core reasons of the forum which is Bitcoin discussion, then altcoins and other politics and society matters that is relevant to discuss. Even if a newbie goal is to be getting merit and ranking up as their priority before joining the forum, they should understand that no member is under any obligations to give them merit. The best approach is to increase your cryptocurrency knowledge and make meaningful contributions with quality posts before merit can start coming. It can be very discouraging if a newbie focuses on getting merit and ranking up and it doesn't happen as expected, that is why it is better to focus learning and making meaningful contributions without worrying about when someone will see your posts as worthy of their merit.

So is it like given by other members in on the forum or by very high ranking members
I believe you have gone through all the comments in this thread, you can be able to understand that merit can be given by anyone provided they have smerits.

If you have two merits, you can also send one, likewise if you have four, you can also send two; In general, your number of merits determines the smerits you will get, and you can sed it to anyone you like if you find their posts worthy of merits.

Take merits out of your mind and learn, when the time comes, you will earn them in abundance. Once you can interact with others and provide quality and useful solutions to any problem, or if you share useful information in the forum, you will earn merits.

If someone is benefited by you or if you can post something informative then you will surely get merit. Exchange the topics you know about in the forum and gain knowledge about what you don't know. If your post is useful to someone then he will give your merit. Instead of focusing on merit, focus on making informative and useful posts.

Don't focus on merits. Keep writing good stuff. You'll get merits automaticly by another user's when your topic will be good and helpfull.
Merit will also make you to write quality post, because anyone that's looking forward to increase it's Merit earning has given itself assignments by making a research with a quality post,

So that's one the things I see that prompt people to earn merit, it's obvious that you can't make irrelevant post and expect merit, expect it merit of sympathy

They are some merit that's called sympathy merit that you feel you to dash out for writing rubbish, and some posts that earn merit because of their innovation of finding positive things of that will help  forum, that's one of the things that fetches people mega merit in their thread.

Most merit farms have all been wiped out over the years and the best way to end merits was and still is to put up as more quickly content as possible. Eventually, you start to get more recognition from community members. Alternatively, you can opt to help out members by creating highly informational threads that would help other members in one way or another. This and some bit of patient should be able to get you up and running with earning your first sets of earned merits.

There is always just one secret about merits that have worked for me and every other Forum members, and that is to post good quality posts that contribute differently and add something extra from other opinions in your post's, by so doing, you are awarded merits from those who read and fund your comments helpful to them, and also you can participate in the various merits give away thread's around the forum, which is something very few lately.

So you efforts should be in contributing positively to the various discussions around here, don't be so desperate to give up when you don't receive such amount of merit's as you expected, a Post that did not get merited today, can still get merited in the future that the reason one need to keep a highly quality post's history.

There are many ways to earn merits on the forum, but it depends on how quality your posts are, and how useful your knowledge or contributions are on the forum, people will appreciate it if your contributions are very useful.
But there are other ways such as you reporting your post to some merits benefactor

Everybody wants merit to get to the next rank and when that doesn't happen you just have to be at ease, no going up or down. Making your post unique and very informative makes  the merit flow but it all depends on the members who are reading you post and if they want to appreciate your work, without that I don't see any merit getting attached to your post and mind you, don't expect merit to always come whenever you make your post. But from what I observed, you have to work harder to get merit these days so I'd advise you keep your head up and always give the Forum something positive to talk about, getting into conversation will help.

In terms of growth I don’t know, anyone either newbies can build their crypto knowledge gradually without earning merit. When it comes to ranking up merit is needed, how can we explain the concept about merit when we clearly know people receive merit unexpectedly, I don’t know how all these work but, looking carefully people who earn merit make contribution not just quantity because it’s best you go for quality over quantity. I will advice you focus on what’s more understandable and read as a newbie for clearer contributions.

How do I get merits what are the criteria I need in other to increase or gets merits on this forum

In addition to what High rank members have said to you already, here are a few tips on how to earn merits, be consistent and active, Post quality content, share useful information and your experiences in Bitcoin though as a newbie you won't have much experience, participate in discussions, provide helpful answers, create meaningful threads, be yourself and most importantly. Keep the rules.

The only criteria is to make good quality posts. You will naturally earn merit over time. There are also a few threads where you can submit posts that you’ve written so they can be evaluated by merit sources and they will give you a few merits to help you out if you are just starting on the forum.

It might seem daunting to be able to earn enough merits to reach a high rank, but you will steadily make progress as long as you remain active.

Undoubtedly being active pays a lot from my experience while growing up and navigating around the forum, for instance there is a major difference between a student who frequently comes for lecture and pay attention and those who doesn't come for classes, being active is more like a progressive learning than retarding because it increases the curiosity of the unknown to be known by asking relevant questions where and when necessary, a user who is active in the forum will definitely be making progress than a user who are less active. It is a good advice to remain active and get what is happening at fresh.

You are right, you need merits and activity to rank up in this forum, and steps to earn merits are not directly outlined, but indirectly, you should know that merit is an important entity in this forum which is why it is use as a criterion for ranking up.

To earn merit is not as easy as you may think, and at the same time is not as hard as you may expect. Earning merits is sometimes lucky because merits is a reward to your quality post and contribution to this forum and since we have different users, everyone have their say on how to rate a quality post, so if one finds the post worthy of merit, someone might not find it worthy, and you cannot blame them because we all have mode of understanding. But if you keep written quality contents and keep given good contribution to the forum, you will earn merits easily.

When some newbies get here, the first post they create is for them explaining how they don't know how things are done in the forum. My question is; who taught them how to create a post? How did they find and locate the beginners and help board to create their first post?
Let's assume they were able to do all that because they kept checking out every board and sub board in this forum, clicking on and reading most things they see until they found what they were looking for.

Newbies can actually follow that same pattern to know how this forum works. They should navigate through the forum, know what each board is meant for, read some important posts including pinned posts and rules, and they are good to go. No one here leant everything about this forum in one day. As for merits, they will come if they work hard.

I'm really grateful for your advice I guess I should just contributes and make more research and hopefully I will earn some merits
And also engage more in local board
This was really helpful
The first sign to show that you are really interested in learning about the question you ask is how serious you are following up on every single answer that has been given, which many newbies are not good at doing.

Just check within yourself and fine areas that you pick interest in and how you can contribute to the community, and you might not want to worry about merit as they will just come to know even when you don’t expect them.

So is it like given by other members in on the forum or by very high ranking members

Yes, it is given to the forum members when they view your post and they see that it deserves some merits. They will send you their spendable merit (smerit), which is just like giving you an award for what you have contributed to the forum. Also, not only high-ranking members, everybody can give merit regardless of their rank. As long as you have smerit in your account, you can share it with the people with high-quality posts, so do good and merit will come.

Avoid posting unnecessary posts. Because of merit, if you do that, merit will not even come. Sometimes you may get merit from a post you did not expect, but because it is good quality and it deserves to be merited, a forum member who has smerit can decide to merit you.

Yeah..and don't kick out advice of people, try to follow some advice you feel that will uplift you, if you take here serious you will come up with good results, making a good research is primary something that will make you to achieve what you have in mind, be committed in your local board as I said before, I have seen some profiles who rank up to senior member rank without posting one post in English board, and all its merit was achieved through the local board, because merits is been distributes mostly in local, so return to your community and dedicate yourself fully.
