i wish i can have more merit too but no matter how hard i post i still can't get more than 1  Embarrassed
You want more merits then put some works into your commenting skills. Stop the one liner replies and add some quality into your replies too. Use your merited reply as an example even if all you have to say is one line, add quality to it or don't comment move on to other topics you have ideas about.

How can you obtain a merit? I would like to know more about this if someone could quote my post and link me or something that would be helpful, Thank you!

Let me add this to the advice of cryptopreneurbrainboss:

Yes, receiving merits feels great like you have cured cancer, it makes you feel like you give a huge contribution to the bitcointalk community. Roll Eyes
I agree, but I think it shouldn't be like that.
I mean, receiving merit should be something common for any member that contributes to the forum. It has been implemented mainly to fight against spam, so imo it shouldn't be so hard for the non-spammers to rank up.
But anyway, we don't decide of anything, we're not admins, so these posts are pretty useless...

Funny but from the first day i received my very first merit I got a particular feeling, i can't actually explain how I felt but excitement, joy and some sense of accomplishments was involved. After that day, as I don't get merited daily I unconsciously check every post that got merited immediately I notice it. Don't know if this habit of mine is normal or I need help Grin.
I know the regular merit receivers won't experience this so I'm asking those who don't receive it daily whether they unconsciously or consciously check merited post like I do?

It took me a long time to get merited but when it did, I got the most joyous feeling. I am so happy and thankful to the person or persons who merited me. I don't know how to find out who it was, but whoever it was, thanks so much. It made me even more encouraged on my cryptocurrency journey.

Click on "Merit" in your profile:

This will show you who sent you merit within the last 120 days:

sig. code creator start @$10 - PM me!
I started from 0 merit without complaining and begging even in the history of my posts. I thought it was inappropriate for me to do that because half of my activities were hunting for bounties. I only discussed what was interesting to me (and not even everyday).

After the 2nd merit & rank requirement + 1 day was issued, I'm a member who up to the new rank. I'm the happiest person at the time (I'm sure  Smiley ), where many people complained about this new requirement. When looking at some posts history that gets merit in one time, such as past prayers that were granted at once which I think they might have been forgotten by God.

Believe me, whatever you did in the past isn't entirely in vain if it is useful and valuable. Someday people will see them. Keep the spirit and do your best Cheesy

It's like Facebook Likes, that need of approval for the society, that feeling about people like your way to think. And isn't cool at all because if people who get merits feels good, that mean people who don't maybe are feeling bad. Should be really frustrating to make a good post and not get merits for it.

Is really easy for the legendaries, because we started with 1000 merits and we can't rank up. But for those ones who want to be legendary, is a really hard and long way. I'm not saying it was easy before the merit system but now is much harder.

I agree with the OP that it is a nice feeling to get merits. I wouldn't say i have the same OCD with checking every post etc  Cheesy but it is nice to know that what you have written - someone has enjoyed it, found it helpful or useful etc.

I really want to keep being in this platform.

And being a newbie doesn't hinder your ability to be part of this platform in any way shape or form. Unfortunately for you, having a post history that consists entirely of listing your spammy advertising posts on other platforms is not merit worthy. Not violating the rules is the bare minimum standard and again, not merit worthy.

If you want to rank up, then you need to drastically change your posting behaviour.

I have joined this forum with no act of violating the rules and I was demoted from junior member, because of no merit. I really like this platform because I have learnt a lot about cryptocurrency and helping us earn through activities in projects.
I really want to keep being in this platform. And I have good understanding in cryptocurrency trading.

Alright I’ll admit it too....when I come onto btctalk.org I click ‘Profile’ & check if I’ve received any Merit. I do feel kinda good when I receive some if I’m honest. Having a bit of a dry spell at the moment, I don’t seem to be getting as much as I used to. I still try my best to be helpful & make good posts though.

Since I have not received any merit after joining this forum last year I don't know the feeling but I think I can feel proud of myself and it can make a great motivation for me to contribute more in this forum If I'm not busy in my offline job if I ever received this merit someday.

...Therefore, when I had a week left before Sr. Member and I realized that I was given 100 merrit instead of 250 and I did not get 250 merit, it was very sad....

I think you've misunderstood this topic - it's about feelings while you have "earn" merit yourself not when you've been airdropped a merit.

...
If merrit appeared or was updated faster, it would be great, and it is impossible to move to another rank and I’m frustrated.
...
Since you are a Full Member, I looked at how many people have ranked-up starting at the same rank level. So far, there are 55 Full Members that have made it to Sr. Members needing merit in the process, and one additional case has made it to Hero (xtraelv). There are also another 11 that are nearly Sr. Members, and only lack activity to get there.
Fine, those numbers are not high, and likely the snail pace is rather slow overall, but those cases are rather diverse when you look at their profiles and posting history, making it a difficult quest, not an impossible one.
...

DdmrDdmr pointed out 67 people "similar to you" who already have or could have been promoted by getting enough merits.

I'll go further there are 225 people who have earned 150 and more merits (since the introducing of this system),
there are also:
167 peple who got 100-149 merits
545 people who got 50 - 99 merits
5237 peple who got 10 - 49 mertis
and 1656 peple who got 6 - 9 merits

You are complaing that you should be already senior member and you are frustrated...
On the one hand maybe You should be... but for another reason - there are 7830 people who have achieved more than you...

But don't worry! Look at the bright side of your situation: if the merit system has been introduced earlier with five merit you would not have even a Member rank today!
So smile man! It could be much worse...

One of the keys is investing time. Coming from the old habits, where 30 seconds per post would let you move on with no further issue, you are now required to racket your brain and invest some time in the process, way more than before in general. That requires a change of habits, and frustration should not be on the agenda if you realize that and adapt.

That was a great news for me the first day i saw one merit on my account i was so happy and also it's encourage me more to keep it up to reach member.
When I saw this system, I was scared at first, but I thought it was all for the best.
