It's in the wrong section, so probably. But then again, around half of the threads in the newb section are, so I don't know how productive it will be to keep reporting them daily, and also whether the mods will get pissed off with all the "in the wrong section" reports that come flooding in constantly.

I don't think there is such a thing as too many reports. Seems the real problem in that situation would be 'not enough mods'.

I could report threads in there all day but I can only imagine that it'll eventually get annoying to somebody. The newbie section does seem to be neglected at times, but as you said it's expected to be a messy mishmash, and I guess you guys have better things to do. Have you considered bitpop's moderator application then? Grin.

There you go. That's a good idea. Imprison him in the newbie area and make him moderate it for life. Kind of like the forum version of purgatory.

My general rule for the newbie section is alts/gambling/advertisements by non-newbies get moved, most other junk gets to stick around.  Depending on they day the one word 'hello' threads sometimes have work done on them too.

Newbie section is a mishmash of everything, it's to be expected. Only stuff I really focus on moving out of there is services/advertising/etc and altcoins.

Year, I often feel tempted to report posts in the noob section. But than again, those guy aren't really doing something bad. It's just annoying as hell.

Although, seeing those threads I wonder if it's even possible to make a coin shitty and scammy enough for people don't jump on it like crazy (Altcoiners kill my faith in mankind  Cry )

Edit: Reported my first altcoin Thread (if that ruins my 100% score I'm pissed!)

Grin Have fun. Currently about 90% of threads on the first page are in the wrong section. Half of them are mining questions. The rest are about alts.

And I lost my faith in mankind long ago, but this site the internet is sometimes enough to change even a peace-loving hippie into a miserable nihilistic misanthrope  Grin.

I'm getting more annoyed at all the Dogecoin threads in the newbie section.
Report them

Is it a reportable offence?

Hell yes it is, please do report any alt-coin threads in the newbie section... that's not the right place for them.

It was tysat IIRC

+1 for remembering correctly.

Could you please write it in the subforum rules?
Looks like it's not enough clear for some people

How would noobies know that.  Roll Eyes

I guess I understand that. Bitcoiners do seem to be pretty evangelical about the "one true coin".

BTW: Reading your posts was one of the reasons I got into Litecoin.

I am quite interested in how Dogecoin is going to end up. I saw the initial reasoning behind making it, and why it gained early support, so I'm curious as to how things turn out.

It'll lose its appeal pretty quickly when people realise they can't really buy anything with them and the joke's already got old. What was the initial reasoning behind making it? Is there some grand scheme I'm unaware of?

Please don't clutter the thread with off-topic quote replies.

Please stop cluttering this forum up with threads whining about avatars. replies to threads moaning about avatars.

I remember one of the staff posting a while ago that non-bitcoin threads should be reported.  The only place they are allowed is "Alternative Cryptocurrencies".

Looking at the rules for the newbie section, I do not see where it says you cannot post alt-coin related stuff there. Can you point out the rule?

Didn't see a rule.  I just remember seeing one of the staff or moderators asking us to report them.

Awww, I'm touched. I was a big litecoin supporter early on, I was a Solidcoin supporter early on, until I ran afoul of Realsolid, and I was also a big Bitcoin supporter early on. I just enjoy cryptos in general. In reality, when I became the Altcoin Moderator, my official title was, "Smoothy's Babysitter" but he mellowed out when he found his own thing with Physical Litecoins. I'm glad that I helped get you in (hopefully at a good time and I didn't lose you any money)

All of that asside, this is primarily a Bitcoin forum, and I've got no problem with that. I don't really blame people that have vested financial interest for not being thrilled about people talking about the competition, if alt coins are competition.

Thats why when a big topic, such as Doge gets out of the Altcoin board, and starts ending up everywhere else, people complain, and its a big hassle for a while. Oddly enough, I am quite interested in how Dogecoin is going to end up. I saw the initial reasoning behind making it, and why it gained early support, so I'm curious as to how things turn out. I should probably buy some because I actually do have a Shiba Inu.

much thanks
