Satoshi designed a special crypto-currency to take advantage of Lamar's limp-wristed betting style. That's all you need to know for now.
Can you elaborate more on this ?
Any proof or link ?

It is my understanding that Byron used his celebrity to get this horrible crime into the mainstream media. He also did a lot of blockchain analysis, but he, unlike some glory hounds, doesn't like to discuss that openly.

I don't understand why some people are bitter and feel the need to lash out at Byron Micon. He uncovered this massive Ponzi AND alerted all of us. Thank you, Byron, thank you.

I think we should all congratulate Byron Micon on successfully spotting and outing the Pirate ponzi scheme.

Congratulatiosns, byron.

He was far from the first. Congratulate him for jumping on a high visibility bandwagon instead.

This.
If you want to congratulate someone, look at Maged and Vandiroy for example, who took to the blockchain and worked out the size and scope of the scam.
Totally agreed. Micon did nothing and knew nothing. The only thing he did, which I still don't understand how, was make an extremely popular anti-pirate thread.

I'd also like to thank all the people behind the scenes who either gave us information or helped us compile information. They know who they are. Without them, we could not have gathered as much information as we did. I can only hope that informed investors in Pirate took heed and that we at least saved some people.

...coining the term "super-user" in the process.

That was him?  He must be quite old by now.  That term has been around since like forever and is an important part of Unix-like operating systems.    Grin

Since I'm 52, I remember that system well.

Bitcoin is weird like that. All the old scams and obvious fraud are now made new again. Surprised nobody here is peddling 'Offshore Trust Accounts' like that guy on talkgold who ran off with a few millions.
Give it a month...

"Sweet November" with Anthony Newley (since were in Newbies) comes to mind.

That would be tough as Bitcoin is the offshore for offshore.  Smiley

From a Bitcoin perspective it would be like onshoring your wealth.

There is no call for anti-semitic remarks here.

I think you'll find he was mocking christianity, but whatever, they're all basically the same...

Now the mainstream press is acknowledging Micon's pivotal role in uncovering this scam. I would note that he was also the whistle-blower who brought down Ultimate Bet, coining the term "super-user" in the process.

This man is a one-person, scam wrecker. He finds scams and shuts them down, selflessly.

"It's game over, just a question of who wants to believe it yet," Bryan Micon, a poker player and early pirateat40 skeptic, said in an email. "He has been paying interest since late 2011, albeit a helluvalot more recently... it looks like he doubled the size of the scam from April until it went boom." THE VERGE

I have no priest. I am just genuinely grateful that Byron Micon, in spite of his celebrity, was willing to go out on a limb and identify a dangerous scam. I just hope that he is rewarded properly for his sacrifice.

BYRON MICON. A true hero to the bitcoin community. He and Satoshi should be commended.

Not anti semitic. Anti christian maybe. And I was drawing a comparison between the reason you gave for quoting NASA, and then the messianic regard in which you hold Micon. I'm not anti Micon, but I don't think he

sacrificed himself for the good of all of us.

and I think your priest would be horrified to see you write that.
