It probably was an employee that is taking care of their website that tried to spread some fud to get the price down. #FailedAttempt.

I already was in shock because of this, I thought they really stopped, and the fact is also that I use it often to buy games these days for my xbox.
So I'm happy it was just a mistake they have made.

This doesn't really effect me. I don't pay for office with Bitcoin. I don't just have Bitcoin and I don't think you guys only have Bitcoin. But this is definitely nice to see this though.

I don't bite.
According to their statement, was just a mistake but clearly it's a lie. What happened was, them turning their heads away and then, the minute everyone found out, they made a U-turn and decided to continue since they probably thought, there's small demand which clearly isn't the case after all. That sort of mistake, doesn't just happen like that, but that's what they want us to believe. Btw, it's still open for US citizens, so not sure why their not expanding it to other countries as well.
It looks like they just want free publicity from the media, IMO. But still it is a good thing that there is still a big company such as Microsoft that support Bitcoin.

Microsoft has made panic selling  Grin

I didn't really see any panic selling going on after the announcement. Bitcoin seems relatively stable at current price, regardless of news like this.

Also, one (albeit big) company that stops accepting bitcoin should never be a reason for panic selling. Bitcoin has grown beyond that and should be able to cope with it.

Ultimately I think we are all happy to see that Microsoft is still in the bitcoin game regarding accepting bitcoin.

If you believe all the fud and shilling coming from the Ethereum people, they already signed up with Microsoft. The thing is, Bitcoin offer value to Microsoft now, in the form of sales and the widespread adoption of the currency from customers and merchants. This is something that Ethereum does not have. Microsoft will milk the Bitcoin cow, until the Ethereum partnership has grown and then they will dump Bitcoin. They say, Business is Business, right. Just bend over and take it from behind, they have strong market dominance and we must grow faster than all the other competing Alt coins, to have the edge.

Most users might have got panic and thought why Microsoft has taken such a decision. Today this news might have given them some good hope on the future of bitcoin.
Bitcoin's future has nothing to do with some specific company's decision. Bitcoin will end this block size increase debate and got a consensus solution.

This seems like a move to give a final pump to ethereum. No one is there to impede it from falling back to normal levels now.

Doubt it. I suspect it was a PR move - people like me didn't even know they accepted it in the first place, now I know.

Of course they have to do it, it would make a big impact for them if they didn't do it.

My thoughts exactly.  I feel like a "mistake" like that just does not happen on a microsoft website.  That would be an huge error simple to avoid for the web content manager.  I didn't think it was a big deal when I first heard about it but now it is interesting.

Very cool that Microsoft acknowledges this.  The price of btc did not seem to be affected by it anyway. Everyone can relax now.

I didn't hear the news that they stopped accepting bitcoin! Man I was out of the loop for a bit there.

Also, who edits these articles?!

"BitPay did immediately responded to CNBC's requests for comment."

I'm glad BitPay did was on the ball.
