usa only  Huh

All companies have to start somewhere.
Maybe the USA is a test market.
If it doesn't generate interest here, it is unlikely to generate interest elsewhere.

It'd be real interesting to see what kind of traffic bitpay gets from the MS site, but I figure it can't be bad news for bitcoin either way.

Acceptance-wise this is the biggest event in Bitcoins short history. But then again, every new event seems to be the most significant event for Bitcoin Smiley

And after all this magnificent events, price of Bitcoin falls.

we need bad news peeps for a next bubble. If bitcoin foundation hack into chain and steal 5 millions btc i think that would be so bad news that BTC would reach the moon.

usa only  Huh

lol, it seems they thinks USA bitcoins are better.

I think the price has dropped, the average is currently sitting at $314 now.  Sad
There is no reason to 'think' that the price has dropped. You can actually see the price right now.
The price drop is unrelated to this news.

very interesting how this gets announced and the price doesn't really do much...

We may finally be beyond the point where every news event manipulates the price.
It has been this way for a while now, at least when additional companies start to accept bitcoin.

When you look at the headline you will probably think that potential billion dollar sales with Microsoft will be done in bitcoin but after you look at the details you will see that only it's game divisions are accepting bitcoin (as of the announcement) which make up a very small percentage of Microsoft's sales, plus you can't even buy their physical gaming systems with bitcoin

Guess its time to buy an xbox...
Microsoft won't sell you an XBox, or any other Microsoft product, for Bitcoins. All they'll take Bitcoins for are the junk items you used to have to use "Microsoft Point" for. In-game items, cheap apps, that kind of thing. Stuff that doesn't cost Microsoft anything.
The will give you XBox-stuff for your Bitcoin. That is not bad. And yes it costs them something.

Well it's not like you can't get a Xbox using bitcoin anyways
You can just use newegg and wait for an electronics special
Or if your in a hurry just buy it now

True enough, Microsoft seems like the biggest event so far, but I'm sure we will have something else that tops that to look forward to in 2015.
At least for now our hunger for new merchant adoption can be satisfied temporarily ^^

Absolutely. Microsoft was famously late to the internet, and that hurt them for years. But it seems, with digital currency they are determined not to make the same mistake again. Major companies care about their reputation, even above some profits. So Microsoft have done due diligence and Bitcoin has been found worthwhile for them to engage with. Lots of companies will take note and seriously consider how Bitcoin can help them. International sales to emerging markets is an obvious growth area as the existing credit card and payments systems are inefficent outside the OECD.

This is a step towards adoption of Bitcoin im surprised more people are not talking about this news

Tell me Microsoft is holding 10% of Bitcoins rather than an immediate conversation to fiat which adds selling pressure. Tell me that news and I'll scream it from the mountain tops.
