I do not understand why someone wants to buy daily life stuff with Bitcoin. If you have the decision of buying something with Gold instead with fiat, what would you do? Same holds to Bitcoin. Therefore it does not really surprise me that there are few people who want to buy stuff with Bitcoin.

this way of thinking is what is keeping bitcoin from growing big and reach its full potential.
we are all talking about mass adoption and high prices 1K, 2K,... 10K USD but we are still thinking of bitcoin as an investment. if bitcoin turns into money (p2p cash) as it was intended to be then we are going to see the real rise otherwise the price is going to always swing and we lose money as we gain it.

Microsoft has clarified that the company continues to support Bitcoin payments in its Windows and Xbox stores.Earlier the Windows faq page stated that the users can no longer redeem Bitcoin into their Microsoft accounts.

Microsoft is a great company. And they are smart, they see the potential in Bitcoin and embraces it instead of waiting on the fence like many others.

Since January this year, Microsoft has greatly been supporting ethereum. It is considered to be the "next" bitcoin. It seems like the price of it has greatly increased.

Microsoft's support for ethereum is nothing more than a deployable node on their cloud. Whilst bitcoin is accepted as a payment method in their store.

Microsoft has a reputation of throwing their weight around and can adopt whatever currency they deem suitable for their environment. They have been toying around with Etherium lately, and might just be making waves to see how the users will react, when they start supporting another currency. Oversight or not, it is still unprofessional to drop the ball like that, when you are one of the market leaders in the IT field. As you can see, I am not a big fan of Microsoft and the way they push smaller technology and companies around, so I probably a bit biased. ^hmmmmm^

Actually Apple are trying to control everything in their operating system a lot more than Windows and you have to provide a lot of personal information to even have access to the Apple store and download free apps. I would trust Microsoft implementing Bitcoin into their infrastructure more than Apple because Apple are famous for selling overpriced products for exorbitant amounts of money  Wink How can you be sure they won't try to monetize Bitcoin too in a way to rip off their customers?
Windows is the same, by using Win 10, you actively giving microsoft your data. There's an article in the internet.

Even tho Windows isn't forcing you to use a store, Microsoft isn't any better than Apple.

no, big companies won't really support bitcoin... businesses like microsoft, dell or expedia say that they accept bitcoin as a payment.. today there are a number of billion dollar businesses that accept bitcoin only as a payment...

It is a really good thing that a company as Microsoft is supporting Bitcoin. It will make Bitcoin only more popular.
Microsoft is the biggest computer software company so if people see that they support Bitcoin people will see that and trust Bitcoin.
Yeah, imagine how bitcoin will be famous because of participation of microsoft.
That should be great. now the question is how long will microsoft accept bitcoin as payment?
or it's just part of microsoft strategy to get more famous?

I can agree with MS being in support of blockchain technology (which is revolutionary), but I doubt that they care much about decentralization (if at all). Should I remind you of all the 'telemetry' updates to the recent versions of Windows?

Yes, if anything they would like to get their greedy pecking fingers on anything they can to try and license it.  They are the most centralizing corporation out there!  Weren't they tied up in a couple of anti-trust monopoly lawsuits awhile back?  I'd be cautious of sharing anything with Microsoft....Didn't they steal the Windows concept from Apple?

I suppose Microsoft decided to stop accepting Bitcoin payments probably because there were not enough Bitcoin users to warrant the expenses put into running the service but apparently they changed their mind. It's always good when big companies like Microsoft back Bitcoin.

I was thinking the same, later i read some news about azure and alts, now they are back again.... hell.. they are moving more into the world of bitcoin that most of us xD, btw any news related to ms&btc should be welcome, free publicity Wink

if only it were that ... Wink

Terminated.
thought you didn't read it very well, yeah as you said, bitcoin will be supported by microsoft and be available for buying stuff in microsoft's store even they'd remove bitcoin option as a payment few weeks or months ago but it'll be a good news
It was temporarily removed due to some "inaccurate information" being posted online. I'm not sure why/how they've let this happen (or whether this is the true reason behind it), but apparently everything is back to normal. What's unfortunate here (IIRC) is that Microsoft only accepts Bitcoin in the US region.

And in terms of Azure it looks like they accept almost every shitcoin. Cheesy
That's what happens once greed steps in.

I think microsoft is supporting blockchain and power of decentralization and dapps rather than bitcoin.

as far as i know Microsoft is not "supporting" bitcoin it is just a payment option they have on their services page. when i saw the topic i though they did some kind of support (speech article or something like that) to support bitcoin. they are working with altcoins more especially in Azure.

That's right.
Microsoft is accepting Bitcoin as payment option but not supporting it actively.
And in terms of Azure it looks like they accept almost every shitcoin. Cheesy
So much for that.
so it means we can buy microsoft products with bitcoin as payment ?
