Every popular person behind Bitcoin is a huge plus for a wide adaption. Especially when its actor or sporting person.

This is the route for adoption... whoever is involved in marketing the product (who the hell is doing this?) should actively pursue celebs... their tweets alone will cause a significant tremor.

I just wish they could have gone for someone a bit higher brow (and more expensive), with a bit more tact. Cheesy Tyson is a bit of a joke to most of the world. But any exposure is good exposure eh?

he is really pro bitcoin, and he certainly seems switched on to the tech generation,

in the Wallet descrition he says Bitcoin will soon be the currency we use!

Could you please refer to any authentic source for this?

Agreed! I'd love to see a real source on this story. I know he already installed a Bitcoin ATM, but this is new.

I like him as player, and this could be a news that can break some doubters about btc and it's potential.
If Mike say: "Use my wallet! USE BTC  Angry"
How you can refuse Cheesy ?!?

Can't find anything on google about this.. Where did you get the information from?

Would've expected quite some news coverage from something like this.

I think we won't ever know really since it seems like a mix of investment opportunity and the company paying for sponsor it at the same time. He may have some interest in it and research it but that's it. In my opinion I'm leaning on that theory, I don't really think he discovered Bitcoin by himself and decided it was a good idea to invest on it. It was just a business opportunity and he and his advisers took it.

I knew there was a Mike Tyson affiliated bitcoin ATM. Didn't know about this though.

I wonder how he got into bitcoin or are people just paying him to advertise these things for them?

I wonder if he genuinely has any interest in bitcoin himself?

I have these same questions.  It is great that he is into it but it escapes me how he is all in?  Don't really think of him as a techie.  Again, who cares! Great press for Bitcoin.

Thanks for the info, along with everyone else in this thread I knew about the atm but not this.  It does look like Mike Tyson is well onboard with bitcoin.

I've always respected Mike Tyson, he's the kind of guy everybody likes to put down but he's a very sensitive and raw human being even if he has made a lot of mistakes. How can one judge a person when he has done his best in life, the guy was doomed to be in prison for his whole life, he says that himself. Anyway, not sure if Mike's Bitcoin interest is just something personal or something he is just advertising. Anyone has more info on that?

I hope this satisfies you, it is a bit more reputable than a random btc blog Smiley

Must not have enough reputation to post links to real news sources...you can probably work out what it should be though, just add the .com

Thanks, after reading the article it seems like Mike Tyson and his advisers both advertise and invested in the business at the same time, he's not just the face of it. Well, we need more people like this that take a similar approach, perhaps with more relevancy in the field than Tyson, he seems like a "nice" guy like I said but it all seems like a cash grab. Tyson and Bitcoin? it's just odd.

Why Tyson and Bitcoin? well it's pretty simple, for a marketing standpoint Mike Tyson beats even the most known guys in the field like Andreas A. At the end of the day it's all about attracting people and Mike Tyson approaching Bitcoin will bring way more traffic than any other relevant Bitcoin guy. Tyson is an iconic figure of American culture, it can help bringing it into the mainstream. I don't see any of the Bitcoin guys being interviewed in Jimmy Fallon anytime soon so to speak.

How odd. I knew about the ATMs but not the wallet. There must be easier ways to make money so I guess he must have some personal interest in it. He's a fascinating fella overall. Shame about the darker stuff.

Mike Tyson is a pretty bright guy under that stereotype of him being a reckless boxer, also he isn't taken very seriously because of his thug looks and his funny lisp, but he's pretty bright when he is serious, even tho I still doubt he is really into Bitcoin, it's probably him giving his image for some others to manage the whole thing, we'll see.

I don`t rememember who said it " It deosn matter what they say, as long they spell my name correctly" In this case as long they spell BTC. I think soon we will see more stars and celebrities promoting btc, maybe someone pay them for that, maybe they have some stash, who knows.. in the end its not matter. The important thing is that bitcoin is here to stay for long, some people see it better then others.

Maybe you mean the people who think for him are switched on to BTC and made him say that the currency of the future is Bitcoin... He's in it just for what they're paying him to appear on these Bitcoin related ATM's and apps.

...

Does Mike Tyson need the Bitcoin people could send him?  Is he short of money?

Sarcasm aside, yes, you are right.  The more visibility Bitcoin gets, the better it is for the BTC Ecosystem.

it wont matter how much fiat you have when people are only accepting crypto

he is likely well aware of that  Wink

it brings to mind something like outta madmax

Well....  For most of us who have extra wealth to save, I would suggest putting some 3% - 10% in gold, and 1% - 5% in BTC, according to how comfortable you are with each.  BTC and gold move relatively independently of each other, so they make good diversification.

On the other hand, Mike Tyson would not HAVE TO BUY anything in a SHTF (Mad Max).  If he sees something of yours he wants, he could just PUNCH YOU OUT and take it!

*   *   *

I doubt very much that people will accept ONLY crypto at least in the near future.  For a "Mad Max" scenario, CA$H/FIAT$ would work better at first.  Perhaps silver (pre-1965 US dimes & quarters) next.

Gold and BTC later.  BTC, IMO, not alts.
