1 BTU/hr = 0.29307107 W. It does not matter what the application is that consumed the watts and produced heat in the form of BTU/hr.

Thanks for the info. So 5.5-6 tons of cooling if I max the breakers.

Cooling ganna cost you a lot, better to just use fan?

Fans definitely will not be enough for this much heat.  This is more heat then an outdoor gas grill. I should be fine, you can buy used 5 ton cooling units for around $3000.
You are completely confused.  Don't even think about attempting this.  It won't work.  You can't AC miners.  You must blow the heat into the atmosphere with a fan.  If you attempt to use AC, you are going to be stunned how much energy you will consume.  It's not engineering, it's physics.

It's more targeted at data centers, but they say liquid immersion cooling systems are becoming more common these days.

Very interesting concept and could cut cost in cooling.  Grin

If you don't mind me asking, how do you get a price like that?

Moved into a house that had been emptied for a long time and signed a contract for flat rate power, monthly rate is based on the previous 12 months.  Basically unlimited power for a flat rate every month. Talking to local transport company about taking my service line from 200A to 400A.  Smiley

This flat rate is almost free Grin

As others have said, look into fan cooling. If you go the AC route, that'll really cut into your profits by using all that electricity on air conditioning. I'm guessing AC will use about the same amount of power as the miners themselves, or near that.

Agree, fan is way cheaper. AC is costly..

The trick is to vent the heat from the miners. I use a triplite 42U enclosure with the thermduct kit it works fan-tastic Smiley I use an 8" cyclone fan to exhaust the heat from the cabinet up into the attic where it goes out thru the roof vents easy peasy...
This setup prevents the miners from continually heating up the room air and even if the room (garage) gets up to into the upper 90's F its still effectively cooling components running at 43C to 50C (109F to 122F) antminers or the Jupiters that run around 65C (149F)

Hi,

Got a question.  Building an area of my house to house a dense amount of miners.  Going to dedicate about 90A of 220V to the miners and the supporting infrastructure and possible the A/C to cool them. Currently have 4 tons of cooling but that is for the whole house, so I know I will need to dedicate more A/C to the miners.  MY question is usually when I build datacenter for traditional uses I estimate 3.5 BTU per watt of power, do miners fall into this same ratio of heat per watt?  Since the power supplies are usually from servers/computers I am going to use that ratio on them but any help with heat generation on miners would be helpful.

Normally for datacenters I also do lights, breakers, wiring, etc, but in the case of this room in my house just worried about the computers, miners and the window.  The only one I am not sure about is if the miners fall into the 3.5 ratio.
