I would say only IntenseCoin (ITNS)

I started mining ITNS at the end of 2017 if I remember right mid December, and I am still mining it with my lap top on CPU with 5 cores.
I get the most amazing profit from this coin.
Working on CrpytoNote technology it is still easy to mine
Give it a try you will see you wont regret it Smiley

They have the most stable pools and amazing community I must say that also Smiley
CPU mining it's still not dead, give it a try Smiley and you will see what I am talking. Smiley

As the others have stated, though, if you have no interest in using the CPU to mine a separate coin... a cheap CPU is fine.

I hate to "waste" the CPU so I prefer to use chips that mine decently & point them at Cryptonight.

Cheers for the advice!

Was just wondering because now i am currently only working with a cpu and although it is very slow in comparison to gpu i was just curious as to whether some coins will use both gpu and cpu when mining... anyway thanks for sharing your ideas!

ok just saw the last post ignore what i wrote earlier

Also is the cpu as important? Will an i5 do the trick just fine or should i save more and go for i7? I am not so tech savvy and have no idea about how often this type of tech gets updated, so basically just curious as to whether within the next year there will be much better cards and processors?

Bro Dual core also far enough to have connected the multiple video cards in the rig and make the money out of it. If you want to make your personal computer works better you can go with the i7 processor with the 4th or 8th generation one.
Try to mine the altcoins with the graphic cards bro. I am sure you will be able to make more money you can get in bitcoin mining. Now eth value also growing faster so mining the ethereum would be the best move in mining platform.

IMHO... build around a Ryzen 1700X (if building with NEW parts) and put that on Cryptonight. You can get ~600 H/S from it with mild OC which beats many GPUs. This is what I used for my home office PC.

At current prices it will do over $50 / Month on Intense Coin... and if you decide to quit mining will have good value both as a useful PC and for re-sale vs. specialized mining boards and weak CPUs.

----------

I actually prefer to build around HP Z400 systems for dedicated miners & upgrade to the X5660 CPU (around 20 bucks on e-bay)... still get ~230 H/S on Cryptonite (CPU pays for itself before power in 30 days):

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/building-cheap-miners-my-secret-1955358

Repair parts are also cheap (motherboard like 40 bucks, RAM dirt cheap, etc)... although I've never had one fail.

if your consideration is live times, you should choose the newest card such as 1080ti or Vega, but previous gen such as rx 400/500 series, 1070 can be on your alternative list. 1 more important is, you need a card that has more than 4 GB vram.

Hi newbie to (in mining, not crypto)

I am looking to buy a new gaming pc and do not care about electricity cost. Wanna learn more about mining and crypto.

Don´t wanna build big rig, just hobby mine on gaming PC.

Any advice?? Thanks

I am under the same opinion as you i mean if i build a decent pc myself that has a couple decent graphics cards but also has another use if mining kind of goes down hill that would be more appealing at least at the start anyway...

if i got vega and 1080ti would that be wise? i mean could i have one mining one coin and the other working on another... or is that a very wasteful way of mining?

Hi newbie to (in mining, not crypto)

I am looking to buy a new gaming pc and do not care about electricity cost. Wanna learn more about mining and crypto.

I have searched the net but couldn't quite find what I was looking for... I am ready to do my homework and research

but I ask you, do you have good links/sources where I can read about mining equipment for home users.

Don´t wanna build big rig, just hobby mine on gaming PC. I was thinking of Monero or other Altcoin, no coins with ASIC activated.
Red that the 1080Ti is quite good, but that is just one part of the PC...
you say 8GBvRam good, any advice on CPU, PCI number, hard disk etc

Any advice?? Thanks

AMD 12x3.5GHz with water cooling (is this good ??), 64GB DDR4-3000, ASUS GeForce GTX 1080Ti 11GB GDDR5X, 500GB M.2 SSD + 2TB HDD, ASUS Zenith X399 (USB3.1, Sound, Intel LAN) Windows 10
cost 5000USD

Or is this over the top?

Today hundreds of alternative crypto-currencies are represented on the market, and some of them are very easy to obtain. The problem lies in the fact that in view of the huge number of different altcoins, it is extremely difficult to say which of them will be profitable. As for me good examples of altcoins to mine are Litecoin, Dogecoin and Peercoin.

With the latest version of Nicehash 1.8.1.5 (LEGACY) program it is not that important in terms of profitability what graphic card you choose(sure 1080 ti is great but RX Vega 56 costing cheaper offers you more profit mining Monero).

Even with GTX 1060 3GB I am making 23 Mhash in Ethereum and 20 Mhash in LBRY dual mining with the latest Claymore miner. For this I say that with 2000 Euro you can easily make a rig of 6 x 1060 3GB cards and make about 0.0012 btc daily with actual rate but I don't know in 2018.

Hi all.

Looking to set up my own rig in the new year. I was wondering what suggestions you have for this looking more long term. ie. 2018 and beyond. Say for a maximum budget of around €2000 what could i get and will it even be worth it further on down the line? I am looking to mine coins such as monero and z cash. However will the cards that are needed to mine them still be useful later on or does it all depend on how well each coin is doing individually as to whether you get success and profitability mining it?

Cheers
According to me, mining in 2018 will continue to increase, it is because the predicted price of 1 bitcoin will continue to increase and can reach more than 120 million rupiah. Very interesting for new people to understand bitcoin.

Do you believe that 8gb cards will be needed as early as 2018? I was not considering it.

By the way, ETH is doing good right now so you can consider nvidia cards more than AMDs.

Sorry, wrong. AMD cards are better at mining ETH (ethash algorithm). NVIDIA cards are better at ZCASH (equihash algorithm).

Overall my suggestion is to compute and planning everything. Mining rigs are an exact science and hash rates, power consumptions, risks and market volatilities can all be estimated. Make sure you are comfortable with the possible outcomes.
well I will complete my first rig of nvidia cards gtx 1080ti
and then I will start to build the one amd rig with 6xvega 56
I heard they quite not stable but I have to do it. they simple the best in cryptonight!
