My bet is that from now on (at least until the market crashes or some dude decides to buy like 100,000 of them) mining for SC will be approximately as profitable as mining for BTC.  Once profitability goes up a bit -- say, 120% -- people will sell by the hundreds to cash in on the BTC.  Once profitability goes down a bit -- say, 80% -- G/Hash falls, the remaining ones buy up the coins, price goes back up.

The 5X profitability worked until the network hashrate caught up with everything.  Now, G/Hash is low, but difficulty is still up.  If somehow the G/Hash remained the same and the difficulty dropped while SC value remained at it's current level, then you'd see 3-5X profitability again.

Yep we had our first drop, it was exciting.

Good to see the network prove itself fast and reliable under all mining conditions presented so far.

First drop.

21,515 to 20,522.

BTC to SC parity is about 0.0177934 at the moment but it's more like 0.021'ish due to high rejects (8-10%) that all the pools have.

Cheers,

Pretty sure they were at 21,600ish and now at 21,500ish.
Maybe it was 20,600ish?  I donno.
They're certainly leveling out now.

And now it's less profitable.  Solidcoin sucks.

LOL. Price dropped nicely.

At the moment, profitability is about equal to BTC. It varies up and down. Do some math with the relative difficulties and remember that SC only pays 32 coins per block and has higher stales. I have a spreadsheet to automate it for myself.

How profitable will 413MHash/s be with this compared to btc? This is with my 2 computers GPUs working together for 17 hours a day (due to high elec costs where I am)
PC gives 405MHash/s (HD6950 Oc'd and Overvolted)
MBP gives 8MHash/s (GT330M on MBP)

How much can I expect to make a day now?

Say does anyone know of a cheap/powerful card to add to my setup or a really cheap HD6990?

To those of you with like GHash/s setups, what kind of cards are you using? and how many?

What are the best clock and voltage settings to get the abolute max out of a HD6950 without ruining it?

The king of mining is not the 6990......it is actually the 5970.No other card is as efficient power wise and Mh/s as that card even if the electric rates are somewhat high. When I did solidcoin some thought it was crazy to even do it OR even buy new videocards because BTC was devalued but if you look at it logically if you had the processing power to get it all done at an earlier stage you would be VERY well off.I got into Solidcoin only on the second day through the guild w/ a 6950 and 5770 and made at least 40 Btcs through selling.I suspect if I had gotten the 5970's I ordered earlier I could have at least quintupled-sextupled that.

There is no question that the hardware pays off itself very quickly during times like these considering there have been numerous alternatives over the last month or so.However, considering how Solidcoin works with the adjusting difficulty and potential alternatives down the pike it is a good time to get a mining rig done I think.

I also think Solidcoin has another chance this week to rise again so will be hoarding them until that time.

I really wish people would stop with the (____COIN IS X TIMES MORE PROFITABLE THAN BITCOINS...

If people do some research and look into these things they will find out on their own.  You are just spoonfeeding people and making the difficulty increase....

I'm out for now. I've made about 205.19 BTC with solid coins.

Maybe if the price comes down some more I'll buy back in.

But for now I'm going to just watch the fireworks.

Happy trading everyone!

it's pretty nutty how fast it has gone up.

I will say who ever is playing the market is doing a good job at slowly dragging people up.

err..are we witnessing another 'bitcoin-like' explosion here  Huh

I like explosions like this Smiley
When Ixcoin starts with the "SolidCoin code", it will happen to Ixcoin too. I'm certain of that. That's why I'm keeping my Ixcoins.

Yea well just 4 days ago 1000SC was worth what 1BTC? And now its worth 30  Huh

We're just 2000SC away from the lowest ask being 0.03..wow...how long did it take Namecoin to get to that value again?
