as an answer if i get caught it will be jail time for 1-3 years
they don't do helicopters or thermal imaging just someone reports me , so i just want to hide if someone reports me and they get on my door they can't find them or they find just a normal pc

Probably your power company going to report you , because you are going to use to much electricity , way over the average household usage around your location.
Doesn't matter where or how you hiding your rig , or camouflaged your setup.

Im in the USA, but when i started to use my home mining setup , with around 150A power draw , few months later some officers was knocking on my door , and asked me about what's going on , do i growing weeds ? Smiley so i give them a tour in my small mining room , after that , never heard about them again ... later in the coming months , years , Power company persons come to my house a , bc the of the smart meter at my location reported overheating Smiley

Each of your 1060 GTX , with the right tune can draw somewhere between 70-90 watts , its just the card itself , so add few extra watts / rigs for motherboard/  cpu memory etc...
I'm assuming you have 2 rig with 8 cards each , so each rig is pulling around 600-750 watts , so in your case that's a max 1500 watts or 1.5KW / hours.

so if those agents going to your house , and your rigs hidden , you probably need to explain to them why is your power usage is high Smiley

Solution No 1 :
Solution During winter time :
Install a space heater ( but never use it ), if there is a winter in your country Smiley , and tell those agents , you feel cold all the times and your space heater must be on all the time Smiley
( actually your mining rig basically is a space heater , so somehow you will be honest with those agents Wink
Solution during summer time :
Install a window AC unit around 1500w rated power usage, but never use it , if those agents going to your house, tell them that's the ac what drawing than much power ...

As some other members mentioned , if your country really want to crack down on miners , sooner or later they going to analyze your IP traffic (and DNS) log , and from there they easily can find out , you are connected to a mining pool , so go ahead and set up a good vpn connection with a good firewall , use pfsense or opensense for self build. use different DNS that your ISP using as a default ...

And after all this , ask yourself a question , all this worth it to mine with 12 1060GTX , risk your freedom , spend some times in jail , or it would be a better solution to sell your cards , your rigs , and buy some coin and hold it , sell it when you need some money or when coin prices are up .

Solution No 2 :
Go completely off the gird , detailed info, suggestions HERE Smiley Wink , use solar panel , wind turbines , but make sure you have a good cell phone connection , so you can use a mobile hotspot to connect your rigs Smiley

i am a small scale miner all i have is just 16 gtx 1060 3g mining from 5 years
In Russia, these issues are solved very simply.
It is not necessary for the equipment to be in your apartment, because if the equipment is found, you will have problems.
The equipment should be located in a location where the owner of the equipment cannot be identified. You risk the equipment being seized by the police, but it will be difficult to prove your guilt.

Risking to go to prison for 16 gtx 1060?
This is a nonsense for me...

Sell the cards and buy crytpo if you want to stay in this business.

Sounds risky. I wouldn't mine under these circumstances. Is it a life & death situation for you? Are you going to starve to death if you don't mine crypto? If the answer is "no", then there is no reason for you to continue mining. You'll never know who is going to report you. It might be even someone very close to you. Why risk it?

Do you live in Venezuela ? I heard they are cracking down on mining there because the power is subsidized by the government and they don't want their power used for mining. I don't think this will be easy because these days there are easy ways to find miners.

One way miners get discovered is just by looking at the electrical consumption. Many early miners got visits by cops because their electrical bill went up and the police assumed they were growing weed. Another way is by thermal imaging, usually some helicopters fly around and look for any areas where there is massive heat where it shouldn't be.

As Venezuelan allow me to correct you.
Mining and criptocurrency is legal here, however miners are supposed to participate in a centralized pool opened by the government and get registered as miner to get a license.

Many miners do not like this, so they stealth mine at the risk of getting caught and losing their ASICs and getting a big fine.
Usually, un-registered miners here are caught by informants or by giving a look to the electricy consumption. Government here do not have neither the logictics nor the will to use thermal imaging from a flying helicopter to catch miners.

And you are right, electricity is basically free here and mostly green, about 70%-80% comes from hydrological powered generators.

Quote
In 2015, the total of electricity production reaches 117 TWh, of which 64% comes from hydro, 19% from gas and 17% from oil. Losses however are uncommonly high, reaching 34% of production.

Quote
Hydroelectricity production is concentrated on the Caroní River in Guayana Region. Today it has 4 different dams. The largest hydroplant is the Guri dam with 10,200 MW of installed capacity, which makes it the third-largest hydroelectric plant in the world.

It is also well-known that confiscated ASIC are used to mine within military bases for the goverment to have at their disposal, probably to pay Iran for some products

Any other questions you may have about this lovely place, go ahead and ask.  Wink

in my country mining is becoming illegal
any ideas on how to rebuild my rigs to be hidden or to look like a home pc
thanks
Mining isn't the only way to make money, instead of buying graphic cards or mining rigs it's better to use your money on launchpads or consider DeFI stakings, I'm just trying to safe you from getting arrested, one proof of mining is enough to get prosecuted

What is the punishment if you get caught? If it is jail time or worse then don't bother. If somebody reports you, you'll have a hard time. It is not worth it. Find yourself a different job/hobby or invest in staking coins if you need dividends so badly. So don't have to be a miner. Do something else. You can sell the equipment and buy&hold coins instead. Most of the time it is a better idea.

If they'e banging down your door looking for mining equipment they already know it's there,
either from electricity use, thermal imaging, or a tip. It won't matter what your rigs look like.

I don't know if anyone has bought closed rigs but they exist and they have fitted 6 to 8 GPU-s in there depending on how large this box is.Usually this is the only rightful solution to make a rig look like a home PC,these closed rigs have a form of a bare metal server that stays in 2U(units) racks and it sure looks a lot more as a server computer rather than a mining rig.

In the picture is a good one which looks a lot like a FULL tower home PC or server,in other words like a computer rather than open mining rig. This is with a lot of GPU-s however there are even smaller ones with just 6 GPU-s or less to make it look even better.
Only a blind person won't know that this is a mining rig and tracking down miners in such country must be so mean that they must be familiar with what mining rigs looks like, a non mining rig will consist of only one GPU and you can easily say it's for video editing or gaming but more than that will give you away

If it's illegal then I strongly advice against it, why not just buy coins and stake them either on exchanges or in your crypto wallets, you will earn passive income doing so and there won't be any need of buying mining rigs or equipments

You could always get a big old electric heater and put them inside. Even thermal would show it as a heater :p Smiley

Some very old and very cheap and very big server is the solution then.
My six gpu rig fit right into one of them if I remove the rig structure.
you will have to do a lot of work, place quite a lot of fans but it works
