I guess he will get a lot of messages in his account and claim that he is the real sender Grin
In my opinion, this is a classic scam attempt.
People respond to the message and want either the 3.6 BTC or the 0.02 BTC for the "help". OP then asks for "proof" such as test transfers and voila ... the scam worked.

This scam is now quite common on Telegram, also the well-known "a prince has died and bequeathed you his fortune" scam via email is based on the same principle.

Therefore: Hands off!

Maybe he can ask the Primedice support system related to that name so Primedice staff can search for that guy and tell him that you want to send back his bitcoin. I think you can keep that amount by yourself and not use it for playing gambling or withdraw some money and give it to charity. That will surely help them to survive for more.

Warning to all of the forum members

Don't fall in the trap of OP. Avoid him if he send you pm and offer anything. I just went through his post history and found his username in some casino. As example:

username = pioop
i did ask last day to banned all my alts account and leave one account is name PIOOP

User ’pioop’ (OP) is the most well known scammer (beggar) in crypto casino. If you are an old gambler and played in dice casino as well as active in the chat then you should know him. He has scammed many players by asking tip/loan (begging) with his tricky words. Most of the old Primedice user knows him very well. He has also run his scam attempt in Stake, WinDice, Bitsler, DuckDice, Crypto.Games and few more dice gambling sites. And he have multiple accounts at every casino.

BTW, I was scammed by him at Primedice in 2019 (or maybe at the end of 2018). I had sent him a small tip by falling in his tricky words. However, I can't prove it now. Because Primedice tip history only showing those transaction which has been made since 2020. But you can ask about ‘pioop’ in Primedice chat or support to know his character. Probably this is his new attempt to scam people. Kindly stay aware.

I think there is more to be followed  Grin as it was nice to see that EZ0010 got many merits for being honest. But in the Op case, I am not sure.

4 - 1 year later you remember that you need to return the 3.8 BTC?
what chance of this story is true?
In my opinion, there is a 0% chance that this story is true.
That's what I think cause 1 year is too long to hold that 3.8 BTC which is a big amount enough to spend. if he wants to return it why not the day when he knew he will make a way to return it.

LOL this story sounds super fake.

He got it in 2020 and wants to send it back now? Please....  Roll Eyes
whatever the story behind this, let's just let the OP share the story with us lol. i think that the OP is doing money laundering or something but something went wrong so it's him or they are trying to get their money back (this is just my assumption and my wild thoughts) Cheesy

your case needs to be analyzed by points:

1 - in 2020 you had a vip gold account with a lisent username

2 - in 2020 someone unknown sends 3.8 BTC to your lisent account and you didn't think to return the money immediately

3 - after 1 year you created another account, you gave up your VIP account, why? and transferred the 3.8 BTC to your new account but didn't remember to record the username of the person who sent you the 3.8 BTC?

4 - 1 year later you remember that you need to return the 3.8 BTC?

what chance of this story being true?

In my opinion there is a 0% chance that this story is true.

If you don't want the money then you can donate it to me since I am in need of money right now to recover from disastrous typhoon rai. Of course, I will share it to my neighbors and neighboring barangays as we call it. I can show proof of donating it to other people who are also got hit. I am just saying and it's entirely up to you on what you want to do with the 3.8 btc but if you ask me I would also return it to the owner who tip you that 3.8 btc but if I can't find the owner then i'll consider it as a donation.

This story sounds fake to me as well.
Anyway,OP you should be careful, because many people might DM you saying that they are the guy,who sent you those BTC(if there really is such guy,who sent you 3.8 BTC,in which I don't really believe). Grin
Don't brag about having lots of BTC online, because you might get the attention of some hackers.
They might play the catfish game and might try to manipulate you by using social engineering techniques. Grin
By the way,do you have any proof that you have actually received 3.8 BTC?

Christmas by the way was 7 days ago, you missed it. That makes you not Santa anymore.
This will go down to one of the stories you can't really believe it's even posted here in the forum. Users who had been in the forum long enough had not read such a story yet so this is going to be one for the record that one person will return back to find out who it was.

I can not see the image by the way. A blockchain link will be good.

If this is true, try to recover your earlier account first. It is a good start. You'll definitely find the username there and probably his/her message, too, that he/she accidentally sent you a huge amount of tip and that he/she badly needs it back.

maybe, you can send to admin.
and admin will send to the main sender.
I'm sure the admin can handle this.

I'm not so sure about this. OP will have to go through support. And if the support cannot even give OP the username of the person who gave OP the tip, support could probably not handle this as well. And that's 3.8BTC we're talking about, roughly $180,000. That's too large an amount to entrust to anybody who claims admin.

I've seen several things like this, where scammer A is posturing as a lucrative scam target. Then scammer B comes in, in this case would create an account like iiiily and try claim the money. Then scammer A would then lead B on and get him to do something stupid (either send some money, or often these type of scams involve asking for screensharing).

The real question though, is it morally ok to scam a scammer?

No offense to you OP but from what I read and understand your thread I felt doubt if you are telling the truth or that you are lying, cause it's about a year ago that someone mistakenly sends you a tip and you are not stating it clearly.  What day or months do you know that you have given that amount?
I don't think so if that person did not make a way to contact you as it was A mistake. But if you telling the truth then good to know that you have made a way to give the BTC back even if it takes more than a year.

yep, felt the same way. but then again there's really no way to know whether OP is lying or not.

@OP for what it's worth I suggest being cautious. if this story of yours is true I am pretty sure someone would send a PM to you pretending to be the person you are looking for or pretending that they know the person you are looking for. I am curious, what's on the link I can't seem to access the image.

Good to be honest man but if you see the user send you a message towards that accident sending you a huge tip then return it back directly to him but make sure he provide the address where he send the amount to you so that you can verify that he is the real one not the fake claiming that is his money. But anyways if you feel guilty for that amount better keep it for a while and wait for the rightful owner to contact you since primedice didn't share some vital information of their costumers to other people.

Super fake story and this dude is just trying to scam someone right after waking up from long sleep of his account.
I kinda feel the same way but I also felt that Op might be gone searching for it for years or so or whatever his reason is I take this as a grain of salt. You never know if that someone was still hoping to find it although this story is a bit late so I don't know if there's a thread somewhere here who have sent a BTC to a wrong address.

If it's true be careful who you trusted to send it too since there's no reliable source yet that someone has lost that big BTC.

In one way it makes me feel he's such a kind hearted person, because no one will find a way to return back a huge amount of 3.8BTC in today's price. This is more than enough to survive lifetime for a man in my country.

On the other side receiving it in a account in 2020 and he hasn't using that account anymore. Now it's almost 2022 trying to return it back seems like having a good play using the funds and trying to return the capital. Whatever if he wants to send it back he needs to access the previous account, and it is possible to find the username. With that he can contact the person and make the transaction. If the person isn't responding just enjoy.
