The forum is not moving to any commercial software. The forum has been developing it's own software for quite some time now. You can find more information about it using the Github page: Epochtalk. The forum is also currently in open beta which can be found here.

Own forum software... wow! That's gonna take a lot of time and trial and error to reach its first stable release. I was one part of a team that were building their own BB software, I had to leave because of other work but I know the progress is very slow, especially when you're not working full time on it.

Well the forum has been in the pipeline for quite a long time now and IIRC theymos has spent more then US$1,000,000 so far in development. From what I understand, all posts currently made on the Beta will be gone. Once it is ready, the final mitigation from all content will happen and the forum will transition to the 'new version'.
