MoneyGram CEO Says Ripple and XRP Could truly transform Global Payments, what do you think? Do you agree or disagree? Personally i think centralized crypto is the answer, do you?
This is not a matter of agreement or disagreement, but rather their ability to convince people globally, because if they are able to make payments globally and all people want to use it, then they will succeed to change that.

To be honest, I can only say agree with the statement above, it is not important between centralized or decentralized. As long as the service provided satisfies customers in the sense of being fast, cheap, transparent, and having a good team. But most crypto lovers don't like ripple, especially my Facebook friends who sometimes share articles that deflate xrp. But as long as there is decentralized that can compete with ripple, why not.
You're right about people in the crypto community not liking any project that's centralized but there are something we must not ignore (centralization, fake volume listing, scam project either ICO, IEO, ROI investment etc.) for the future stake of the cryptocurrency. However, statement which was said by the MoneyGram CEO was just a statement used to praise the person that saved his company from quenching.
XRP is a crypto that will satisfy customers but scam them.

He would say that. Ripple bought a stake in Moneygram:

Quote
19 June 2019

Ripple has agreed to invest up to $50 million in MoneyGram as part of a two-year partnership that will see the old-school money transfer player tap the blockchain startup's XRP digital currency for cross-border payment and foreign exchange settlement.
Ripple is making an initial investment of $30 million to buy shares and a warrant to buy common stock at $4.10 a share - a big premium on MoneyGram's closing price on Monday of $1.45. MoneyGram can also choose to let Ripple invest another $20 million at a minimum price of $4.10 per share.

MoneyGram's share price more than doubled on Tuesday on the news.

The partnership, which will have an initial term of two years and builds on a pilot begun last year, will see MoneyGram use XRP in payment flows through Ripple's payment network xRapid in an effort to speed up and cut the cost of transferring money.

He's just praising a major shareholder.

It could happen because MoneyGram is the leader in money remittances, and another thing is, there is a market for this, so we will not surprised
if there will be business like this a centralized Crypto for money remittances when two big names make a deal expect something big to happen.

I don't agree with the statement but I think people need to wisd enough to understand that such statement said by the Money Gram CEO is just a hype message in other to tease crypto investors into buying XRP. Mind you, XRP is a centralized project which the big fish in the platform are those that eat from the fruits the project yield and we shouldn't expect none less from MineyGram CEO than to woo investors so they can make more profit by making investors the prey.

@OP, next time you want to create a thread like this always include the article/news link.

It's because they use the technology of Ripple so what they do have to say? of course, they'll tell good things about it.
Indeed. There is always a reason behind a surprising statement from a popular person like MoneyGram CEO. Since they are using Ripple technology, we can assume it is a bit subjective.  Cheesy But yes, we shouldn't claim that there is no chance for Ripple to be a global payment. Nothing impossible as long as Ripple is supported by many banks.

It's great to see a traditionally fiat based company like moneygram coming in partnership with a crypto. Integration of Ripple into moneygram would surely improve its service. This would also compel it's competitor to come up with a technology of similar speed and accuracy. Moneygram is very small compared to Western union and it would be good if they can take advantage of this partnership.

if you say so. its all about money after all, people complain about decentralize exchange not totally decentralize since there are teams developing it meaning a central authority and that those who claimed are just scam in the making.  XRP won't just be $0.20 when the bullrun start, it does offer big rewards you just can't expect it to be $28 as the other thread said. XRP is very liquid. if moneygram will help the community to send xrp as payments, its good not just for xrp.

Because of the money remittances services/business.

And that's where Ripple and MoneyGram are going to take the big slice on the pie. Remember the Facebook's is trying to compete as well because it's a billion dollar business.

If they are going to transform global payments then good for those who are using their services. Money can be received on the other side of the globe instantly. So we will see how it will transpire in the next two years or so.

Moneygram? As in a remittance company? I think it could be good if they will make a partnership with XRP too, your post OP needed some more details, for us to conclude, if it is that true then it could be good because ripple can have a jump in its price in the market, it will pump.

I don't think it can. If so, it could have been widely use globally even before. Xrp's platform as to banking payment system and remitqnces using blockchain technology doesn't use that much today. However, if we are talking about future then xrp has a great chance to prove that they are capable of monitoring and managing money transactions.

Hmm, that is not the truly answer. If stable coin will be use as a global payment then facebook project or libra will be launch their coin as soon as possible. But there is something wrong with libra until the US government give a grasp to them with the result I haven't heard any information against it again.

I think you just make a conclusion by your side only, I mean you don't even try to compare with another information. I guess there are a lot of altcoin who can compete XRP in terms of transaction speed such matric and etc.
I doubt that libra will stand up right because no matter how much i think about this it will always stand in the government's way, stable coin idea makes sense but the gov? We will see how things will be soon

Honestly i don't want to be monitored that is why i like bitcoin and stay away from ripple because its centralized, if XRP end up been the altcoin implemented into MG many will use the service but not for people like myself

indeed the focus of the ripple is the world financial market by hooking the banking world to use its platform and if this happens it is very good because transactions are getting faster and costs are cheaper

Sounds more like boot licking. There are many better options currently available in the market. Since, moneygram uses ripple's s technology that is why you are hearing this statement.

Anyways I am not a fan of Ripple and there are many more like me who do not belive in centralized cryptocurrency.

Bitcoin.

Super duper agree with you dude but if look at ripple (xrp) this news is a big joke sorry for those fan of ripple but I'm not really like this project, Moneygram is building the reputation of ripple by this news but the fact most people dont like the centralized concept of ripplw.

it's a joke. Too rarely the merchants that accept ripple as a payment system. the local payment is more suitable for ripple rather than a global payment system because it's overrated words for ripple.
Ripple is only using by the crypto supporters to create a simple payment system and no more With the billion dollars of money and ripple can't even do to create its own utility product.
I disagree with that and what he was saying about ripple is very optimistic while the fact is contradicting it.

Just because it has a scalable blockchain means that can be the truly global payment system. Years have passed and ripple still does nothing.

Considering the fact that Moneygram doesn't even hold any XRP, despite using their on-demand liquidity platform just goes to show how much they believe in the cryptocurrency.

Similarly, with the company dumping XRP on the market at a staggering rate (more than $300m in 2019 alone), it is likely that the platform will eventually be boycotted, since nobody wants to be part of a ship that the captain intentionally sinks.

Ripple definitely had potentially, but they have so far failed to get the big break that was needed, since practically no major names have adopted the tech they offer.
