edit: I am not always told what type of accounts I was escrowing for - they simply want someone to hold funds until both sides are in agreement and satisfied. Some specify what they are selling and some do not. Another reason why I also no longer do virtual items.
So you weren't aware that you are going to escrow funds for the forum account? I am not sure if the account seller holds any other account to sell. Because seems you have left negative feedback the seller to ignore after escrowed the funds. So I am assuming farlack just trying to scam false accounts thread sell.

Anyway good to see that deal wasn't succeeding and you left dealing with digital goods like account sales. To be honest it's pretty easy to make a fool of an escrow provider. Because once you are only holding the funds you don't know either they are dealing with an account or narcotics. They might mislead an escrow pretty easily. But I won't support escrow who are willingly dealing with account sell. It's quite harmful to the forum especially when a green trust account changes hand. Who knows if the second party isn't a scammer?

I went back thru the form dm's and the telegram - it was not specified other than that I would hold the amount of 500 until the seller provided "id with original email"

I received the funds and the buyer never received any information and the seller never replied after initial agreement.

Because I had received the funds and then had to return them because he backed out of the agreement is the reason why I left the feedback that I did.

In any other failed account escrow (and it could be any account - I have done windows accounts, office accounts, aws accounts and numerous other types of accounts) they seller never did any confirmation and usually left the chat as soon as escrow was introduced. Without an agreement, I find it hard to leave any feedback.

again - this is why I simply no longer do digital/virtual accounts. Too many scammers and there is no way to actually verify transaction was successful unless both the other parties are in agreement that it has.

I also do not believe I have ever escrowed a deal for selling a forum account, farlack may have been selling one but 99.9% of the account sales I have done are for AWS accounts.

Most will message me on the forums and on Telegram to confirm who they are - which is what farlack did.

and that is a bit extreme OG - I am not attempting to burn this place down - give it a rest.

To say I am motivated by making a few bucks is a laughable matter considering the things you yourself have done as a treasurer - using forum funds to join airdrops to "make" yourself considerably more than a few bucks far exceeds probably all the commissions combined that I have made from escrowing deals. I know, in the end, you were allowed to keep all those funds but I also know that you did those actions without the authority or permission to use the forum funds to do so.

Is it normal for a reputable escrow to engage in transactions related to the sale of accounts?

I don’t believe so, but we all have our own perception of reputable. I consider it a form of fraud to sell accounts supposedly representing a single user and don’t know what the liability could be for assisting in fraudulent activity. I doubt any legal entities care though. It is probably more of an issue with being ok perpetuating account sales and spam on the forum and shows that person is fine participating in the burning of this place so long as they make a couple extra bucks.

I don’t think it’s something deserving negative feedback though. There are escrow agents and DT members who have been caught selling accounts and are in good standing. It’s just an example of someone’s motives. It’s important to understand people’s motives when working with them, so you aren’t caught off guard by their behavior.

Along those lines of thinking... What is your motivation behind starting this thread? Are you an alt account of the person effected or just a good samaritan that happened to be researching feedback left by escrows?

À en juger par les commentaires laissés, le garant n'est pas satisfait car le vendeur s'est avéré être un trompeur.

it also is commonly done as selling accounts is allowed here. but as a note, I no longer deal with any digital items.

It happens, see SebastianJu accepts transaction buying/selling bitcointalk accounts.
I think the general consensus is DT-members won't tag the escrow for it, if that's what you're looking for.
