You have to provide original content in order to get merit. And more educational than 3 liners.

hi
i have more then 50 posts here, but still got zero merit. I tried my best to write replies that can help other people and also me in acquiring merit but no success.
is there any strategy that can help me getting merit

- One-liner posts
- Repititive posts saying almost the same thing
- Repeating (most of) your own replies everywhere (in different threads)

There's no strategy TBH. Merits are results of the hardwork people do to gain them. Don't think of merits just as a way to gain higher ranks here as that mindset will get you nothing but despair. Do it without any expectations and do it wisely. Try to put in more efforts and one day, you will achieve what you deserve. The only strategy to get merits is to keep working on yourself instead of blaming others. Before thinking negative about why others didn't give, think what you're doing wrong that's not getting you there.

Try Meta section of the forum to understand what you can do to get them (the place where people possibly get the most amount of merits for their honorific contribution), as well there are many good services already there that provide merits for better posts. But then, you need to change your way of posting.

hi
i have more then 50 posts here, but still got zero merit.
Most of your posts are into ANN thread which makes you have the low chance of getting merit.

I tried my best to write replies that can help other people and also me in acquiring merit but no success.
Keep on trying mate, don't give up.

I saw users who write consistent quality posts with many good insights and got 1 freaking merit after 100 posts. And that is just one example. Users in the forum seem not to be actively using merits they have, everyone seems stuck.

As the name implies MERIT - The quality of being particularly good or worthy, especially so as to deserve praise or reward.

its not based on the number of post but the value(quality) you bring to people and the forum just try to add value(quality) to your post and make that your goal and in no time things would flow themselves; you would start getting Merit for the value you bring.

Regards.

This is the reality, you can post quality content and helpful but in the other side you still dont get merits. This is why I always suggest that always make your post useful and helpful to others but never expect anything in return. I wrote it in this thread. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/merit-system-for-newbies-3058025

I am also a newbie here... But merit is not a concern for me...But if you are looking to get merit then you should look into the posts of the users with high merits here.... try to learn how to post replies to other posts.... How these meritorious people post replies to posts.... Smiley Smiley

Our post must be high quality, informative, helpful and not to short.

Posts should be informative and not overly verbose. Make your point and justify it, but don't be repetitive.

I've put more people on ignore for long arsed posts, than I have for posts that are too short. In fact I can't think of one that went on ignore for brevity.

If you go on ignore, then you won't get any merit from me ever.

For merit, you need to write the best informative posts. Just copy pasting articles or providing small replies won't help. You need to write detailed responses and hope that it will be noticed by someone who has Merits to give and find your post merit-worthy  Grin

I think Merit only can be earned if our post are useful to others and can helps others.
Exactly, but it also depends on the meritor if they feel that they will give you one. So don't just beg for merits, you must have patience and work hard for it.

Having a merit does not depend on how many post's do you have, but it depends on the quality of our post. Our post must be high quality, informative, helpful and not to short. Just keep on trying and wait.

Merit isn't something that you get based on your post count. Its something that you will get if someone finds your posts helpful. Just cause you made 50 posts doesn't means that you deserve merit.
Not only will someone find it helpful, but besides that, will also think about awarding you with something he could have little knowledge of Tongue. That is biggest problem here.
Many people are grateful for help, but dont award merit to posts that helped them.

I think, its sync on me now, how merit affect user ranking and self motivation. Its been harder now to rank up, but in exchange of good quality post.I think you're in the right track, just a little patience. And maybe we need posting to help, not just post to gain merit. Simple but I guess its worth the effort.

be a few months is no longer possible with senseless postings to get a higher ranking. in the past everyone could write a few lines of bullshit and already he was a member or full member. Today you have to write really good posts so you deserve a "Brexit". but the forum is because we exchange information and learn here about crypto. If you want to make a lot of money you have to work like many other people in real life

even if you make 1000 post but all of them are not quality post or not contributing to forum members will never give you merits, members will always decide if they want to give you merits or not.

Just imagine a person with 200 posts but they didn't get any merit themselves? Haha that how funny the merit is. One more fact is that merit is not regenerated after months if you gave them you will have a bounce-back point but that's it you won't generate it after you gave that's why people are holding it dearly. No one will just give you their merit out of pity you know,

That would be because quantity is irrelevant. It's quality that you want. People don't get incentives for holding their sMerits either, but they don't get anything for spending them as well, so there are people who don't bother. One thing's for sure though, this has definitely quashed account farming and spam, which was the intention in the first place.

I agree that it kind of sucks for newbies because of how arbitrary it is though, with every single person having different opinions on handing out their sMerits. theymos has already expressed willingness in revamping the system if need be, though, so we'll see how it goes.
