There's no accurate percentage for this, but I'm sure in every country there's a gambler even if its not allowed in their country they can still find a way to gamble and sometimes its not just about the traditional gambling, they can gamble in any way as long as there's a money involve. Right now, the market for gambling is still growing, in my country alone many investors are planning to create another city just for the purpose of gambling island, this can attract many players and attract jobs as well. At least I can say that 30% of our population are into gambling, they are just in denial of this.
And this is the reason why many gambling companies or sites are become successful, because there's a lot gamblers out there. I would not say that most of the population of the world is involved in gambling. Maybe only 30 percent of the people in the whole world gamble. but still this number is enormous and there are too few casinos as compared to the people willing to gamble.

From what I can see, the link you posted just explains the general history of gambling and its forms, it doesn't include how involved the population in general is. I also agree that gacha is also a form of gambling to some extent but even if that is true, I doubt many gamers play them or spend money on them. Most people are F2P, or just buy the monthly pack that doesn't include any form of gambling.

I am sure the Middle East might have lesser gamblers compared to other part of the world because of their religious belief. Gambling is taking a chance and trying to win or reach our goal it's on us and it cannot be taken from us because it's inherent in us even if we are in a country where gambling is forbidden, we are involved in gambling even if we are not aware of it, you cannot stop the urge on something that is part of us.

Countries allowing gambling and taxing it is another reason why people are not hesitating to gamble.
