Hi.
What risers do you use?

PCIE slots on this board can work here in these conditions:
1x16
2x8
1x8 and 2x4
Theoretically, the maximum you can set 3 GPU. In practice differently.

What you can try:
1. Check that all your GPU work separately through the riser. Check each riser. Check each card in mining separately.

2. Next, take one card with  riser and check how it will work in each of the PCIE slots. In some slots, it might not work. GPU put in is not necessary to further in these slots. Remember in what slots worked GPU.

3. Add one card and see what happens. It is best to completely remove the native driver. How much GPU will work, see the device manager.

I tried different positions of risers and it worked

Since this is a mobo thread i thought i would ask some help.

In a nutshell

I bought GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-Z97X-Gaming 7 LGA 1150 to build a zcash rig.
This one from new egg
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128708

together with 4 RX 470

and pci risers.

The problem is that the cards will not power up unless i connect the riser directly on the cpu, and even then it cannot see more than 2 cards. It just shuts down and the screen flickers.

I though this would be an awesome mobo to host 4 cards, but it seems i was wrong.

Anyone encountered similar issue? Do you know of any workaround?

Gigabyte support has not been of much help. They suggested to update BIOS which i did but the problem remains.

Any ideas more than welcome

many thanx

yeah but how stable is Biostar compared to Asrock?
After market support if the board fails?
Remember you will be running these things 24/7 and if it overheads then it fries all your GPU's and that is a hefty bill to pay just to save a couple bucks instead of having a piece of mind with a competent brand name.

Not a clue, but I have also heard of people very happy with the Biostar H81S2 motherboards, so I expect the reliability will be similar.
Ok. If not many complaints then no real issue with the quality of their boards.
Thanks for confirming this.

it even says lol

6 PCI Express slots mining motherboard

no idea how good Biostar is only had one my whole life and it was junk but that was many years ago, when MB were starting out and the top three company's were MSI ASUS and i forget the other one I think it was VIA when they sold there own brand or i got VIA boards as OEM. I had net 30 day account one time with a 20 k limit on it with one of the whole sellers, anyone could get, you can't now, I guess they lost to much doing it that way all you needed was a tax ID number to open one it was super easy to do .

it's the same price as the Asrock board i know Asrock are good boards i have owned a few with no issue unless your worried about the 10 dollar rebate .

Newegg has had them in stock for a couple of weeks now.

The Biostar TB85 is another alternative that I hear mentioned as well.

that's were i got the link off the US site or i searched for it there .i was on the US site when i got the out stock link on my US new egg account login, cool you found it, thanks i may buy one and have one on  hand in case . i kept hitting a out of stock link, i bookmarked that page for now .
Or you can buy one for yourself and buy one and sell it to me.
Hehe!
I doubt you would separate with it for that price anyways and would just put it on ebay for $200 like everybody else is.

same board as the H81  only for the 1155 socket but there was a h61 BTC version like the H81 btc but for the 1155 socket i messed a really good deal on ebay if you want one that old you can get it for a 100 bucks or more off some of the sites like Ebay . it has 6 slots like the H81 BTC . ifi come across another one for 50 bucks i buy it and hope it still works i know it gonna BE used but most MB sold as used were upgraded in most cases not because they it was out dated more because they wanted the latest and greatest etc .

http://www.asrock.com/mb/intel/h61%20pro%20btc/
I just did a search for H61 and they are as hard to find if not harder to find than the H81 boards.

Why you link to CA site instead of COM of Newegg?
The com when I checked had them in stock at $69 when someone posted the link before but the CA never had any instock because they are not in the US but in Canada and they get their stock last after US site does.

Can someone tell me about this: https://msi.com/Motherboard/H110M-PRO-D.html#hero-overview ?
It will be ok for 3 gpu's ?

it should be i used the 1155 socket version of that board  or was till i got the new board i linked above . look at the price first then look at the board that supports 6 or more cards  from ASRock i think it called H81 btc something and may cost the same or was the other day on new egg  if your only going to use the rig for mining and have the CPU to match the ASRock H81 btc i would go that route if i could find a reasonable priced h61 btc 1155 socket version i just messed buying one on Ebay the other day for 50 bucks shipped, i think it was I will buy one and get even more use out of my old 1155 socket cpu but that's me, i had to go another way because of what i had already and found at a good price.
Never heard of the H61 being good for mining.
How many cards can they run at the same time?
If they can do as many as the H81 with stable power consumption then I might go that route instead.

According to the specification should work. But each manufacturer's own characteristics. To be sure, ask support MSI.

All motherboard on socket 1151 does not support more then 4 GPU. Chipset has 16 lanes PCIe. I have MB on z170a from MSI  with 7 slot PCIe. Only 4 GPU work. I try to use PCIe splitter for use more then 4 GPU.
You mean something like this?

MSI support answer to my question:
"Ticket:
Only 4 GPU is working properly on this motherboard. Why?

Content:
Regarding your concern, sorry to say that all of the 1151 socket MB can only support 4 VGA cards max. Thanks!

Please do not change the subject if you reply directly, or you can login into https://register.msi.com/ to reply, Thank you."
