They've got my damned money, have made me jump through hoops to get it back, and I still don't know what the hell is going on. I want my fucking money.

It's not the hoops that are the problem - opening on the 23rd was never going to happen to begin with.

If you've got money in there, you shouldn't be pissed you can't get to it without jumping through hoops - you should be pissed that the hoops weren't thought out well enough that they actually thought they'd get through a few thousand accounts in a matter of a day or so.

IMHO it's not that they're deliberately fucking you over by postponing it - it's that they set unreasonable expectations.

Someone plz write the definition for the new internet word: "Goxed"

I thought I had coined it a few months ago when I referred to turning my coins into USD as goxing.  "I gox my coins daily to be less affected by the exchange rate" for example.  Now with the problems gox has been having I think it will take on a less favorable meaning.

Hmmm, probably taking them a bit longer than anticipated to get their new identities ready. I have the feeling 'Goxed' is going to mean a whole lot more nasty things before this is all said and done. Fortunately I have only lost about 100 btc if they never open back up. But such is the free market. Someone trying to get their money back from an unregulated exchange dealing in virtual goods is going to find it extremely difficult to pursue in any legal manner. I am reminded of the EBank scandal from Eve. Trying to convince a a jurist of the differences between Bitcoins and ISKs will be a challenge indeed.

Who said anything about legal manners? If I were Mt Gox I would be least worried about the folks with lawyers - I'm more frightened of the folks with baseball bats  Grin

No doubt it would/could/maybe will be a real legal challenge getting any funds back from Mtgox, however, a big difference between EVE and Bitcoins is that EVE money was never intended to be used outside of the game envrionment, which even contradicted the End User License Agreement.

Huge number of account reclaim requests? Really? What were they expecting?
Just got a response to my ticket regarding the missing reclaim email after 48 hrs: they closed the ticket, no comments/action whatsoever taken.
What will be tomorrow's excuse???

Mtgox delays 24 more hours

22:40 < jetcore> sharkasgo u dont know a shit .. stop people telling that somebody is
working his ass of - you know nothing
22:40 < MtGox_Adam> Some unfortunately news everyone, we're pushing back 24 hrs. Many of
the claims are taking more time to process than we originaly thought
22:41 < JerleMinara> surprise
22:41 < bliket> HAHAHAA
22:41 < MtGox_Adam> **unfortunate
22:41 < JerleMinara> shock
22:41 < JerleMinara> awe.

[Update June 24 - 02:39 GMT]

We're seeing that the amount of claims that need review is much higher than what we had anticipated, and consequently it is taking us considerably more time to process the claims.

We want to be as accurate as possible when approving claim forms to ensure accounts are issued back to the original account holders, so we humbly ask for continued patience while we work through the outstanding claims. If we were to stick to the launch time of 3:00 GMT the majority of accounts will still not have access to Mt.Gox at the reopening.  We want to ensure as many users as possible have equal access when we are ready to open the site again.

Email confirmation and rejections have started going out. If you received a "rejection" email, please go through the claim process again  at claim.mtgox.com and add additional account information such as the account numbers of the services you used to deposit along with the amounts.

We understand many of you are eager to get access to your account, and we are doing our best to ensure this happens as quickly and with as much confidence as possible.

Thank you for your patience and understandinge look forward to getting through the claims and continue trading as soon as possible.

Seriously though, I hope MtGox AND TradeHill survive. I want competition.

+/-1

con I personally like the large volume both surviving will reduce it for each of them.
Pro hopefully fees will grow smaller through competition

I propose a new site named Mt Cox, where you basically climb to the top of the mountain, and push the summit of Mt. Cox right into your butthole, and then tell people you're not pushing a Mountain of Cox into their butthole.

This is the most hilarious thing I've read in a long time!  Grin

Mt Gox did everything right and professional.  If you want to see un-professionalism look at the Fed and the U.S. federal government - what a mess.

No doubt, Totally Goxed!

25 minutes to go and no response email here. As far as I'm concerned, I'll be withdrawing anything I've got there and jumping ship to TradeHill.

loolololol we've all been totally been Goxed

what's more scary though - what if they re-open trading with still 90% people un-claimed.... the price is going to be back at 0 before you'll even be able to sell the bitcoins they have of yours

i'd like to re-iterate the sentiment above with another:

GIVE ME BACK MY FUCKING MONEY
