I know we've not always seen eye to eye and at times I've acted out (sometimes warranted, sometimes not) and for this I'll publicly apologize. Petty drama is so useless when you look at the bigger picture of why we are all here and how we continue to push this crazy little thing called Bitcoin forward.

I wouldn't stress it.  I've been dragged into so much drama here I can't even remember who said what.  I judge people by if they're honest, contributing to Bitcoin, and they can respect others' efforts to make a difference.  I frankly don't have the memory skills to hold a grudge.

I can't just help it but keep wondering what your biggest regret must have been over your years on the forum and also the biggest step you took that you can always look back at and be grateful you did make that decision. Are you still holding some, none or all of the Bitcoin you bought back then, just curious.

First off, I never purchased any Bitcoin until the pandemic this year, where I bought 0.2 BTC (I think) for a friend.  All of the BTC I have comes from gifts or earnings.  As far as my biggest regret...  I wouldn't really say I have any.  I'm sure everything that happened happened for a reason and that is why I'm still here.  If I cared about things like being popular or liked here the clear regret would be that I didn't create an alt account like everyone else to stand up against lies and broadcast my non-herd opinions while remaining well liked under my main account.  Withdrawing all my BTC from mtgox before the bankruptcy might be a decent cause for regret, but I probably would've spent all those coins on something stupid so even that will probably turn out to be a positive.

Personally I thought maybe only Theymos is here from the beginning(with old Id). But today I can know you are also the man who are from quite beginning.

I came long after the beginning.  I was very much a newbie years after theymos took control of the forum and with respect to forum politics, I am still a newbie.

Congrats Mate,
Wish you happy Anniversary. Your post reminded those old days of Bitcoin, I still have more to go for 10 years celebration but I can assume your golden days because even when I started those days were out of this world.

Only very few people are here with there old/real id from 10 years. And you are one of them. It was a long journey and you gave a lot of efforts in this forum during this long period.

Personally I thought maybe only Theymos is here from the beginning(with old Id). But today I can know you are also the man who are from quite beginning.

I made it!  Ten years since I stumbled onto this site a curious newbie.
Congratulations OG Nasty from a newbie who found himself to one of the greatest forum user still active from the 2012 era till date and also being the 2nd most active user is a legacy, there is no single user from the newbie rank to Legendary rank who haven't come across the username Ognasty one way or another. You are one of the users I look up to if I could achieve 1/4 of your achievement on the forum I'd live a fulfilled man.

Wow big congratulations OgNasty, you just passed a message here (everything will be fine) as this isn't the first time we will be seeing such dump in the price of bitcoin. The whole -50% dump didn't start today. From the $30 to $15 price corrections it must have been scary then since probably that'll be the first time it was happening.

There's so much experience on the forum that if we stop fighting each other and work together we might be able to guide a new set of enthusiast that would be able to take the forum and community at large into the next decade.

I can't just help it but keep wondering what your biggest regret must have been over your years on the forum and also the biggest step you took that you can always look back at and be grateful you did make that decision. Are you still holding some, none or all of the Bitcoin you bought back then, just curious.

I am wondering, how much total time you logged in to the forum?

It currently stands at 306 days. I spent a great deal of time here early on. These days I’m more interested in discussing sports here than changing the world, but maybe that will change. I have noticed the forum being much less toxic lately, which makes me more inclined to give my time and make an effort to build fun Bitcoin things.

I wonder how many members registered in late 2017 are still active today, because that time period saw tons of accounts being created and I think a lot of them went inactive after the ICO boom went bust.
You don't think it was more to the introduction of Merit than the seemingly end of ICOs? I think it's the first, anyway.

Surprised you're congratulating OgNasty, suchmoon.

I really like those silver coins on your shop hope to order some other time.

Thanks.  The amount of work I've put into that project borders on insanity, but I'm happy to do it.  I plan to offer a few of those silver coins at auction starting at 1/2 price in the Collectibles section on this forum.  Might be a good opportunity to get your hands on some for below their actual selling price or you can always purchase at: https://nastyfans.org/mint

I remember when I was a beginner, the first one who gave me 'Merit' was you, I remember that until now, very happy at that time, I forgot to say thank you, today I say that, thank you.

You're very welcome.  I've been looking forward to the day that someone comments that I gave them their first merit.  All the effort finding new users to give them merit has now paid off for me.  Thank you.

Everyone else thanking me and showering me with merit for my efforts here over the years.  Thank you.  I'm often held to a ridiculous standard and criticized for my efforts here in spite of having the best of intentions, so it is nice to get a little encouragement.  It's like traveling back in time to when this forum was a positive and supportive place to build on Bitcoin.  Smiley

Spending a decade around the forum is no joke especially right from the early days and despite all the hardships, you are still one of the few old members who are still active here. Your journey most definitely inspires some of us.

Congratulations on achieving a long journey of 10 years, now there have been many events in this forum and perhaps many unforgettable ones from 10 years ago.

It's not easy in this forum activity, during this long time but I will continue to try to be part of the whole forum.

Maybe in a few years, there will be 10 years like OG today.

Great power OG.

My 7 year anniversary is coming up next month. It is hard to believe it has been so long. I guess time flies when there is so much drama going on. (hopefully the drama will slow down moving forward, as it seems to have in the past few months).

Congrats on 10 years!

It seems that your 10 years on bitcointalk has coincided with you having exactly 11000 posts.

I wonder how many members registered in late 2017 are still active today, because that time period saw tons of accounts being created and I think a lot of them went inactive after the ICO boom went bust.

Accounts registered in the last 3 months of 2017 and first 3 months of 2018: still active 1755 out of 812k, so about 1 in 460. To be fair, many of them were utter throwaways. If we exclude ~600k users of that period who don't have any posts at all (e.g. nuked or proxy-banned), it becomes 1755 out of 203k, or about 1 in 116, which I think is not too bad considering that it's been nearly 4 years.

Surprised you're congratulating OgNasty, suchmoon.

My opinion about OgNasty is not based on his registration date so why not.

To put this into perspective: ~18k users registered 10+ years ago, of those only 44 posted within the last 30 days (about 1 out of 400).
That's an interesting statistic, and I won't even ask where you got it from.  It's proof that most of the early adopters of bitcoin outgrew this forum--I just wonder how long it took on average for them to do so.  Betcha it was right around the time that signature campaigns started to wreak havoc on bitcointalk in the form of shitposting, when the signal/noise became so low that it became obvious that no one was reading anything.

I wonder how many members registered in late 2017 are still active today, because that time period saw tons of accounts being created and I think a lot of them went inactive after the ICO boom went bust.

10 years is a long way. You have shared a lot of informative things in this forum from which there are many like me who have learned a lot. Even after 10 years you are still active and sharing informative things will really make a positive impact among the new members. I remember at the beginning of my Bitcointalk journey I used to follow some members to learn something good and you were one of them. New members have a lot to learn from you, so I hope you will be as active in the future as you are now.

Congratulations OgNasty on your 10th anniversary.

10 years is not an easy thing to go through but you are so impressed because you have reached 10 years of being active in the forum, I want to congratulate you because you are so maintaining this forum as the greatest education and lesson about bitcoin knowledge.

I have been on this forum for almost 6 years and have been inactive for more than a year because there are more important matters that concern others, but this time I have really fallen in love with the bitcoin education forum that I learned from seniors, so now I have I can be more active and active for a long time until my death arrives.

I have found a decent life after knowing this forum in terms of trading insight, investment etc., so the info from this forum is very important for me.

For 10 years of your presence at the forum, you have a rather interesting story. Some so many people trust you. And also, in contrast, there are quite famous people with whom, as we see, you have misunderstandings. What is the reason?
We can't always be good to everyone. We create our own opinion and reputation for all people. I respect you for always staying in the ranks. 10 years is a very long time. And it would be fair to call such people a truly "big legend" since many of the stories of this forum are behind you.

I made it!  Ten years since I stumbled onto this site a curious newbie.  The price of Bitcoin went from $6 to $30 in the first week and back to $15 the second.  My first introduction to Bitcoin.  This would set the stage for a tumultuous decade of rapid adoption that would lead to unmatched volatility on the road to becoming one of the greatest value growth stories in the history of mankind.  The promises of freedom and changing the world alongside the invention of the blockchain were too enticing to resist wanting to be a part of and help out however possible.  Bitcointalk.org was the obvious first step to take on my Bitcoin journey and to this day I would still recommend this site as one of the best resources to learn about Bitcoin.  There are so many users here so passionate about this place, and while we don't always see eye to eye, I think it is important to remember that we share an amazing interest in something really special together.

So what does a guy do on his 10 year bitcointalk.org anniversary you ask?  Well, I spent a great deal of time this week engraving 100 silver coins for a giveaway (link) to members of a Bitcoin organization I am a part of.  These coins totaled over $14K worth of inventory from our online shop (link).  It was an early dream of mine to mint my own silver coin.  Being able to now give away silver creations I am so proud of that utilize the blockchain in an innovative way is literally a dream come true.  Thank you to anyone who has ever supported the people and organizations dedicated to advancing Bitcoin adoption and use cases.  It is because of you that these last ten years have been so rewarding.
