But, I am afraid that all the negged scammers and permanent banned people are already into a new account in this anonymous world.
People are doing it regularly. Banned accounts and scammers create new accounts. And that's why I appreciate the merit system. People will care about his account after earning some merits because it requires a little effort while back in the day, a bot was also able to reach Legendary status technically.

I may not be a legendary any more here by starting with a new account.
Sorry, but you can't create a new account since you are perma-banned.
Being a "former" Legendary, you should know that better than any one else.

3. I am ready to donate all my earning from bitsler campaign if Yahoo allows me again. This could be for infinite period or I will accept any duration you will impose to me.

Why do you want your account back so bad? I thought it was so you could earn but now you're saying you'll donate all the money to charity. How would that work exactly?
Honestly I do not have a ready made answer for this. But, it is really a hard feeling that I suddenly became a newbie from legendary. I may sound like stupid but I want my account back at any cost so I just decide to work for gaining back my account.

In deep thinking this may be the reason : I may not be a legendary any more here by starting with a new account.

@rickbig41
@hilariousetc

After seeing Alternatives to Permabans for plagarism, I decide to write PM to you both. But, you both are not accepting PM from newbie.

I do not want to waste your time hence kindly allow me to explain briefly few things :

1. If possible, kindly unban me.
2. I will delete all the posts I have made by January and February of 2016.
3. I am ready to donate all my earning from bitsler campaign if Yahoo allows me again. This could be for infinite period or I will accept any duration you will impose to me.

4. Please do not wait until theymos to release a sig ban mechanism. I am ready to undergo a period of punishment with sig ban once it will be activated, and will prove myself with new merits.

5. Put my account into watch-list and always look into my new post history.

Overall, I am glad to take the punishment of both sig.ban and paying fee. But, in different period. If possible, kindly unban me then I will ask yahoo for re-entering to their campaign and I will donate all my earning for fine.

If yahoo will not be ready for providing me a slot then I will wait for sig. ban.

Honestly I have not prepared all my future action regarding this but I will obey all your instructions.

Thank you.

1. It is my own account and I raised it from newbie.
2. By January 2015 2016 [1] when I was heavily sick and was into crypto-games campaign, for the reason of not missing out the slot, I decided to BUY POSTS from one of my old colleague. (He voluntarily asked me to give posts as he was aware of I was into BTT camp and not in position to write posts).
3. I bought some 20 posts from him but used less than 5, other posts were written by my wife (when I was sick). I guess all those 5 posts were plagiarized.
4. I lost my job in late 2016 but managed my life's need just from the earning from my beloved bitsler campaign. But do not know how to lead a life now, feeling like committing suicide for the situation I am facing right now. It is kind of feeling like betrayed due to heavy jealous, that too from a colleague.

5. I have proof for buying the posts. I can show email of posts with date. But, I believed for the sin of plagiarism, there will be no second chance here hence I did not ask.

It seems the 'outsourcing' posts is becoming a new favourite excuse here. Blaming someone else whether true or not isn't going to be an acceptable excuse. Imagine if you're employed by someone, and instead you pass off that work to someone else who probably isn't qualified and they screw up. The onus would be on you and it's you who would face punishment. Imagine if a moderator here was ill or too lazy to do the work and got someone else to do it, and instead they removed threads they didn't like and banned the users. Would the excuse well I outsourced the work be acceptable? Nope.

I have some sympathy for you, but being suicidal about being banned from a discussion forum is a bit over the top.  Nobody ought to be this dependent on signature campaigns for their living, because they could easily become a thing of the past.  Look at how few of them there are now compared to 2015.  What would you do if the campaign you were in suddenly just ended?

This is just another extreme excuse made out of desperation. People hope they'll have some sympathy and just give him his account back to "spare" his life. You see it with begging often: I'm going to kill myself if someone doesn't send me money. I'm sure op has another account or could just buy one. Losing an account here is likely rarely the end of their time here and I'm sure they'll be smart enough to work around whatever restrictions has been put in place for them.

I feel very sad when I see the account of such top positioned legendary are banned.  It is like the person climbs up the mountain and suddenly slips and falls on the ground from where he started his journey.

On the other hand it needs to be praised that rule is the same for all from the lowest ranked members to the top.  If some fault is committed, forum rules are broken knowingly or unknowingly it will be punished.

To the best of my knowledge copy paste is the blunder which no one should never ever try to taste.

Trying copy paste is like trying to taste cyanide (the fastest and worst poison on our earth) result of which is quick certain death.

I wouldn't ridicule a member like you, because you're not the typical shitposting noob who gets caught for plagiarism, but buying posts is never a good idea, nor is giving someone else access to your account.  In the end, you're the one who's responsible for the ban.  Just calm down, take a few deep breaths, and think of a way to go on living.

You have a very unique excuse for your ban but I don't think you being not the one who posted the plagiarized post/s can help you save your account. Sad to see your account go
The excuse isn't unique; I've heard it before, and it certainly could be true.  But it doesn't matter in the end, because the rules about copy/pasting are enforced pretty much without prejudice or preference.  I'd also add that I'm not exactly sad about him getting banned, but it is indeed unfortunate and I do feel bad for him.

You have a very unique excuse for your ban but I don't think you being not the one who posted the plagiarized post/s can help you save your account. Sad to see your account go but you should have at least took the time to look the posts you have bought from your friend whether or not it is plagiarized. This does not absolve someone who in his account posted the plagiarized content. The way I see it is if they let them give you a chance a lot of people will see this as an opportunity that doing plagiarism in the forum is ok and they do have the chance to walk away freely.

There is no chance even for great contributors to walk away freely.

Review fee ascertain 1.1000 (most don't even make 1000 posts)

There should be different kinds of punishments ranging from limitations, monthly bans to longer or perma bans.

There are temp bans for other violations.

one mistake you are gone

Copypasta is not a mistake, it's a deliberate action with the purpose of scamming whatever bounty campaign they're scamming and spamming the forum with useless tripe.

This excuse of hiring someone to copy-paste is also getting old. It doesn't make it any better even if it's true. If someone is not willing or able to post on the forum they should not post on the forum.

So how about we first acknowledge the severity of the issue instead of trying to whitewash it. Then we can try to formulate suggestions to theymos as to whether different penalties should be implemented. But as of now there is no option for a signature removal so plagiarizers need to accept the risk of a permaban and weigh it against the pittance they're getting for their spam.

Never whitewash anything just take into account context and prior contribution to make the optimal decision.
If you are wanting a net gain for the forum then we need to consider the value they are now as more important than what they once were (2016) too. People can make a poor start or encounter poor periods but pull through to be net positive in a big way.
This of course would need to be met at their own expense. (the review)
I'm certain any legend being banned for even 3 months would be much more careful and some may care about their sigs too. I would say legends can afford to have them removed for a good year and not create too much fuss if they are real enthusiasts here.

Strong punishment but again who knows how many times has he done it. He stole content to make himself look better and gain advantage in ranking.
There are a plenty of members making low quality posts so expect harsh penaltys.

I think his main problem will be it was financially motivated as opposed to posting news from reddit for discussion or a guide for a noob or just information someone asked for  when there was no financial incentive only helping or bringing news/information. It is the context that I think Theymos is interested in.

Sadly though of recent times his posts are very good and I would give him a pass on the basis that for years he has perhaps been a good poster and I don't think that should be excluded from the decision. After all we want the board to gain from people being here and I think the board gains from him being here in his current state of posting. (that is if he is not copy and pasting lately which could only really be discovered from a paid per review and analysis I guess because nobody will donate that much time for free)

For me a 6 month - 1 year sig ban would be enough for this one with zero tolerance after. Of course I have no say so that is merely a suggestion that is not probably going to happen unless Theymos says so.

I hope though that we can have a measure of punishment and not just a 1 punishment covers all kind of thing because context is important but they must still have a bit of a punishment.

Spot on. There should be different kinds of punishments ranging from limitations, monthly bans to longer or perma bans. You have a lot of people who contribute a lot while make one mistake you are gone. You can't ignore that you have all different kinds of people who could fall in trap of doing something that they might regret later on.
Multiple levels of punishment would fit in great but that would require more mods and bring a whole lot of other problems. In the past I used to moderate and admin projects and it requires a lot of effort to make things work as intended so as it is of now we can just hope that rules will improve in the future.

Well, sorry about that. It could be so painful though.
I'm trying to know what could be wrong for you to deserve such.
Considering if you don't have double/ multiple account.
Hope you a have not exposed your secret codes to the scam. And if you are unable to retrieve it. You may quickly reopen another. Though is will take one a long time and courage to restart especially at the level you had attained. Really a sorry case. Angry

<…>I thought the account is locked when they are banned? they can not edit after this point right?
How do we know anyone has not edited or deleted posts before they are banned.<…>
As far as I can recall, a banned account is not locked, so it is still possible to log into the account but not create, move, alter posts, nor send PMs from the account.

People can edit or delete (not all, depending on the board) their posts before they are banned, so if they “feel” they are in the process of being caught plagiarizing or whatnot, they could alter the evidences. That is why some people quote the plagiarized post and/or archive them to an external site for reference. Nevertheless, I figure internally there is some way to track these changes on the live DB (admins/mods?).

Yes this is how I thought it worked. So if someone is banned then it is impossible for them to at that point go back and edit things.

The fact they can do anything they want before being banned ( i suspect most of these that got a plagiarised post spotted since 2015 or whatever were not expecting anything like that) goes for anyone on the entire board.

I don't expect most people as yet realise there is a huge effort to find any copy and paste and ban them or some persons will just hammer delete on their entire post histories to make sure.
