Hello! Welcome to Bitcointalk.org.
I know how it feels to join a forum you know little/nothing about. I often see newbies ask questions like "What is bitcointalk all about ", "how do I earn here" etc. Already existing members are always willing to answer such questions, no matter how often and irrelevant they appear, kudos!
I believe after reading this thread, an honest newbie can successfully decide where to gain from the forum and also how to help the forum.
Below are my personal definitions of bitcointalk forum;
1. Free Education:Bitcointalk.org is a free education forum: If your mission here is to learn, you will learn what is not taught in the universities for no fee. The users here are so generous with knowledge. Unlike the universities, you can be in the first year(newbie) and join the class of final year(legendary). This fosters learning. There is no limit to what you can learn and which board you can visit. Just as you commit 4yrs to learning in the universities for Bsc, if you commit same here, in 4yrs time, you will become a PhD in Cryptocurrencies.
2: Empowerment Forum:Bitcointalk.org is a forum that offers lots of opportunities ranging from learning to earning. Learning, seizing genuine opportunities and earning some
BTC weekly through campaign or bounty can empower you in the real life if you are focused.
It will interest you to know that you can get a loan here too.
3. Market:Bitcointalk.org is a forum where you can buy or sell goods and services. So, if you have a good skill, here is a great market for you. You can do all kinds of legal businesses here. Remember to Trade with caution.
If you are to involve in buying and selling, lending and borrowing, these threads is a must see for you.

In conclusion, it's like an adventure here, many succeed, many give up. Keep developing yourself, the forum users are awesome, if you choose to be resourceful, many people are ready to help you. If you choose otherwise, same people will also facilitate your failure.
