My advice is for this NXT project: identify fully every single person you meet on there because it is literally crawling with criminals.  Even the core technology is fraudulent.

they posted this picture btw as some sort of evidence that Patrick Byrne supported NXT.  Apparently they like to make Patrick Byrne's face clear, but not their own.

This 'Evil Dave' guy is some sort of Irish immigrant to the Netherlands.  If you shed any light on the various people in this project you will see that you are interacting with petty criminals and sociopaths.

the person with his back to the camera(of course) is Evil Dave.

Farley what are you denying at this point?  are you denying that:

1) 200 BTC was stolen because the server security was compromised?  (Farley is partly responsible for this server btw)

2) that fanaticalfishing DIDN'T send this message? (I guess he's suggesting I made it up)

so just to make clear, prior to this entire community coming out against me, I was trying to figure out what had happened to the 200 BTC.  From what I understand police were contacted regarding this and I think a few of the 'leaders' of the 'decentralized' NXT community are going to be in the hot seat.  To make a long story short, someone supposedly hacked John Manglaviti's account, impersonated him, and convinced people to send him 200 BTC.  That was the story we were given.

My suggestion to everyone:  stay off these forums.  They are crawling with petty criminals(and worse).

I love these two points. Just enough lack of accuracy and just enough hinting to tie someone to something he is not involved in.
If you had bothered to do any research (as we as nxtforum admins and forumusers have), you could have already seen that there was no theft of 200, but of 74 Bitcoin.
And yes, before you say it, that is BAD. The reason why I am pointing this out is that one of the facts you parade is WRONG, and yet you bold it. So it must apparently be important for your argument.
Next time, please do some research before you keep parading false facts. The 74 Bitcoin theft is bad enough.

Farl4bit is a moderator. Moderators are NOT responsible for servers. God forbid if they were. Most of them are on a forum for tasks that need different skills, like being able to deal with people.
Furthermore, there is no indication that the servers were compromised. The most credible way that this account was compromised was simple user carelessness, and again, that is bad enough.
Your accusation betrays a lack of insight in the tasks that people fulfil and go way over the line. If you want to accuse farl4bit (or ME for that matter, as I am an admin there) of theft, do so outright, or take it to the authorities. Snide remarks that cast doubt on people's integrity are a low form of attack. Man up, and go to the police and file a complaint, please.

2. Yes, fanaticalfishing díd send a PM. It did not concern you. Yet you feel the need to post it. Actions speak louder than words.

If you have proof that we have done anything wrong, please file a case. I'll be more than happy to meet you in court.
The other way is to just keep on with this farce and try to smear everyone else in the world.

You, sir, are no gentleman.

this arrived in my inbox today from "fanaticalfishing".  Apparently the forum members decided that he was responsible for the theft of almost $250,000 from the forums.

A: And what if the guys running the servers dedice to gang up together and steal the bitcoins?
B: At this moment, no solution is completely trustless. This solution might be as trustless as it gets, but I'm sure James can give a better answer to this than me.

This is one of the reasons I will have nothing more to do with this project.
If anything bad happens, those who do nothing but post crap in a newsgroup are already getting ready to point fingers at the guys paying hundreds of dollars for the high end servers out of their own pockets and working hundreds of hours to make the system secure.

Count me out.

Not true.

Fanaticalfishing PM'ed us (mods on nxtforum.org) this morning about his account. He said he made a mistake in his mail-settings and was locked out. We moderators are helping him now. So..that's it.  Undecided

That is plain FUD, bm.

We were discussing in a conversation potential security concerns for a service, and bringing up end user questions as they could be made. One was the classic question that could be addressed to any exchange hosting an account - what if the exchange owner decides to take the coins? Which brings the point of why multisignature accounts are safer than regular accounts.

Fanaticalfishing suddenly decided he didn't want to be involved anymore in server management in that service and sent a group message to everyone inside of the development group (where you still were one of the recipients) saying he didn't want to stay involved. That's his personal decision, it's not based in anything else. No one accused fanaticalfishing of anything.

He also decided to change the email for his account. That required re-activating his account and he sent the staff a PM to address that.

That's all there is to it, so please don't make up stuff.

I certainly did get taste of what happens when a mob of anonymous people lose money and decide that YOU did it, simply because you're the only one within reach.  On the NXT forums there is a shady anonymous character by the name of jl777 who issued nearly 2-3 million USD worth of assets and it's estimated he sold nearly .5 million dollars worth.  On one of these assets he decided to put my name.  Are you one of these anonymous idiots?  Because if you continue to threaten me or libel me, there will be legal consequences.

I imagine it's similar for Mark.   What outstanding legitimate charge is there against Mark Karpeles?  He's not guilty simply because you lost your bitcoins.

-bm

The handle I am using is actually my name.....

And no, I was just asking.
And the only one threatening right now is you....

To answer your question, he said he would develop NXTautoDAC, got paid up front and cashed out 1M Nxt on bter without writing a single line of code.

For proof, have a look at: https://nxtforum.org/index.php?topic=1381.msg47907#msg47907

and btw NXT is a huge fraud technology wise.  'Transparent Forging' may even rival Open Transactions in vaporware tales.  They have hand coded ECC routines in there that were 'changed a little'.

what is unbelievable to me, is that after these people lose their money- they *continue* to interact with this anonymous character.  He goes by the name of 'James' and claims he has Korean nationality, lives currently in Argentina, and claims to 'travel around a lot'.  There were also reports of his interactions on Counterparty as well.

I did not ever pay this person anything, I did not issue any assets, nor did I sell any assets that he sent me.  This Asset Exchange has some very significant dangers.

There is a great danger in making judgments of someone based on anonymous comments.  This is why we have a justice system, to protect individuals from the angry mob.

I lost money with Mt Gox, do I know Mark Karpeles did it?  no, I don't.

Sorry, completely off topic but weren't people accusing you of stealing 1m NXT?
