I use about 3 forms of ethereum wallets, MEW, imtoken and metamast. My MEW has never for once been hacked. Those who were hacked were those that clicked on phishing sites. Of a truth, fishing sites exist. So, you just need to be careful at all times not to click on phishing sites.

if you keep your private keys safe, i think you don't have to worry about hacking in MEW
but, if you want to store your coins or tokens in the safest place just buy a hardware wallet such as ledger nano or trezor my friend
