3. Do not beg for merit
I have noticed some newbies that have no more than 2 posts and zero merit begging for merit. This signifies unseriously and a perfect no-fit to be among the forum members. Let your topics and posts do the work.
Exactly, it is not called merit for nothing. It is the result of your outstanding effort to contribute and help your fellow members. There's no need to beg when you can just use your knowledge to educate others and share your experiences to make good advice. It is not something to beg for, if you badly want it, then make an action. Don't depend on other people, that way you will be able to prove you deserve it.

It's quite interesting to see how far you have come, I remember seeing this topic when it was posted and the observation from @OgNasty of you not mentioning bitcoin in your entire post. Having that in mind I was curious on reading your just posted reply (more like a bump to this topic) and observing if similar observation like that of @OgNasty will still be seen but I was disappointed which is a good sign of you taking corrections and improving on yourself.

My advice won't be any different from yours but some addition of always been enthusiastic on learning about bitcoin as that's the main purpose of joining the forum. You would had gain nothing if your knowledge of bitcoin before and after you joined the forum are still the same unless you must be some expert already before joining the forum (which I doubt many of us are).

The opportunity the forum offers that you can gain are countless so don't rush the process, allow the forum pass through you while you stay in the forum. Always strive to improve as that's the only way you can see yourself progressing both on and off the forum.

Do not be shameful to ask for help or question about the forum
This forum can be very difficult to be understood by new members, if you have tried and know some part of it, you can ask anything you do not know and want answers for, our ranked members are happy to answer such questions. This happened to me when I was new here on the forum, I ask questions and I was well answered by ranked members. You can make use of beginners and help for that, or bitcoin technical support for anything related bitcoin wallet and transaction.

What I noticed in many threada that telling newbies what to do or where to start is that the information or tips are related to earning merits like posting good quality posts and create more quality posts instead of learning about cryptocurrencies like bitcoin, eth and other cryptocurrencies that a person is interested.

Nice post mate, I always see your topic, I amazed because you are so hard working on creating topic, I think yiu have so many experience in crypto world because you can share so informative and useful topics for everyone, even though you are still a beginner in this forum, you can contribute so well just like what other mature peopke here. I think you can level up so easily, you are so grest on creating such topics.
But anyway way back to the topic, it is really important for us to create useful and helpful topics for everyone because aside of benefiting others, ut benefits us as well. Do not beg for merit, that's true, I have seen so many beginners here who are so desperate in gaining merits, which is so bad. Perform well in this forum so you will get merits.

5. Write quality posts and topics
Your posts should be of high quality, do not spam or plagiarize because it will ensue permanent ban.

6. create more quality threads
This is very important, it will be easy for merit source to locate your posts and if truly worth merit, one or more merit source members will merit your posts. Also, other members that see your threads or posts useful can merit it. Also, know that not only threads are merited, also your replies to your posts or other people's thread can be merited.

Do you think that everyone who comes on this forum, wants to gain merits and rank up to earn from signature campaigns ? I don't think so. There are many people who come on the forum to get some knowledge or advertise their service/product. All of your do/don't seems for only those who are looking to rank up by collecting merits.
Obviously most of the newbies are here for earning that is why they wanted to rank up quickly by earning more merits. But one who doesn't have enough knowledge can't hold on for too long, that is why merit system was introduced people were forced to produce better post if they want to rank up and then earn.

Well said mate, I have visited your profile and I see some of your topics and it is really good, it is so useful for everyone who will ever read those topics, having a hard-work and experience will be the key for us to level up in this forum or in crypto world, I know that merit is really important for everyone, but as what OP's said, do not beg for merit, yes its true, merit will find you if you are going to create useful and helpful posts.

You should also consider feeding your brain with lots of knowledge, jargons about cryptocurrency as this is the only way to join discussions that requires an in depth explanation about a particular issue or discussion.

When you are equipped with proper knowledge, merit will naturally follow. So don't pressure yourself become productive in reading and enjoy your stay here.
If all newbies prioritize learning from the forum he wont break all the laws stated above. We can get information outside the forum and verify here because the forum serve relevant purpose, if it has never been addressed in the forum thats when to open a new thread. The challenging thing now is the bounty campaign and I found that it is only for few bitcoin holders and new interested people. I hope intelligent bounty holders will reduce campaign after next bullrun like we see with most legends in the forum. Most legends had made good money from bounty from last bullrun and kept enough for investment in the space.

The reason why most of older members here are in great campaigns is because they initially went here to talk about Bitcoin, not earn money. Hence, when great campaigns open up, they're already mostly qualified to join due to their built-up knowledge from their interest.
That must be true, someone is interest in bitcoin plays an important role in achieving success along his journey in the bitcoin community in the forum. Many old members have been able to prove that their interest in bitcoin has made them successful. Someone who is successful in building and maximizing their interest in something, so I am sure that is a characteristic of a successful person.

The success of someone in his interest in bitcoin does not have to be a member who successfully promotes greats campaigns, but there are still many other things that can also be said about successes such as trading, investing, various types of services, campaign managers, project developers, etc.

Or stop focusing on earning merits and making money in general. The reason we get a lot of spammers is we're getting a good number of people here for the wrong intentions. The reason why most of older members here are in great campaigns is because they initially went here to talk about Bitcoin, not earn money. Hence, when great campaigns open up, they're already mostly qualified to join due to their built-up knowledge from their interest. Most newer members on the other hand— they're mostly join now, study later(or never).

I do think this post is not only meant for newbies but for all. At least it serves as a reminder for those that has forgotten or has no knowledge about btt forum and how the merit system works. I get to know that some good number of newbies doesn't post constructively

Thank you for sharing your experience but I will peach on no.5 point. It is correct that post should be some quality but it is not like that it should be high quality with full of technical words if it is a two-line reply also it must have something where other people can learn something. Of course, it shouldn't be plagiarize.

i like the obey forum rules, this is mostly disregard by new members and bombarding post in one day, its the most important guideline in any group the a member or users tho be known, because like in bitcointalk if you this regard this your account will be banned and will not be able to participate, for example having multiple or dummy account, this is not allowed in the forum, any many more .

Good post great reminders for newbies including old members, But I want to add number 9 on the list. Search a certain topic before creating a new one. It might already exist and it might end up your thread getting deleted. And If you found a topic similar to yours you can also close your topic and just comment or reply on the existing thread to post your concerns.

I noticed you didn’t actually use the word Bitcoin in your entire post (except mentioning bitcointalk).

This is a forum about Bitcoin. Actually coming here to learn about, develop for, and discuss Bitcoin is what will make newbies most successful.

If you mean about my entire post, although, I do mention cryptocurrencies. But, I also mention bitcoin as well. Thanks for this, I get what you are trying to tell me. That the forum is about bitcoin.

Although, if you check my last thread
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5235930.new#new

You will noticed I mention multisig wallets. I can not find it on any articles but I intentionally browsed for it alone to include it. And, as to what you said, I will make perfect corrections.

Your stats are imprssive. You just created this account two weeks before but you already achieved member rank status, what you need to do is create more interesting topics here, and avoid such redundant topic that has been discussed here all over. This post isnt not bad, but there are many newbies guide posted here same like this. Better to find or search a topic that is new and more appealing. I salute you for your effort and continue you what you have started.

You can also include Avoid spam post and reply most newbies and other member got banned or reported due to this.

I agree that we have to many such topics recently.
It seems that new members finded a very good way to represent themselves, using old ideas and suggestions, mix all together and to earn a few merits without asking Smiley
Any way, Charles-Tim had a very successful start in this forum and I hope that in the future he will create some new, original topics and content that will help others and not just a variation of past discussions.

I was just excited about the forum and the progress I made so far. I like merited posts but if I got no merit from this particular post still make a lot of sense to me. I may still look for ways to write to any rank lower than mine as a thread of mistakes they should avoid. I love merit like I said, but, this thread is not about merit.

3. Do not beg for merit
I have noticed some newbies that have no more than 2 posts and zero merit begging for merit. This signifies unseriously and a perfect no-fit to be among the forum members. Let your topics and posts do the work.
I love this item, actually I can't agree anymore Smiley. This is right, even how hard for you to earn merits don't you ever beg for it. This is not about pride talks because you can absolutely  do better than that, besides it is more fulfilling to get merits in a smooth and nice fashion, right? Cheesy — no signs of compassion, just pure appreciation from the sender.

So instead of begging, focus more on improving the quality of your posts and find opportunities (e.g. Merit Giveaways) where you can earn it.

You are right, it is also included it in my thread, number 3, you can check it. This is not about merit. Check my second to the last thread, it was less than two hours that I posted this. I was ranked up few hours ago and I wrote this thread.
