I'm not shy about telling people I've invested.  The first couple times BTC has dropped significantly in the past few months, friends/colleagues have suggested I sell, but that's subsided.  They've now seen a couple cycles of volatility and combined with my confidence of recovery, they no longer get up in arms about it.

My parents know as well, but surprisingly, I've heard little from them.  I didn't tell them until they had asked me about BTC at random.  Beyond having said initially 'know when to get out' they've not bothered me during any of these barrages of negative media.  They are extremely skeptical about the US economy, so I think they believe BTC to be as good a financial bet as any.

When you will be wealthy and your family still poor and retarded, humiliate them with your money and power.
People that doesn't support you with your decisions are trying to bring you down to stop you from being successful in your life. They are jealous of you having guts, they are jealous of your potential, they are against you. It doesn't matter that they are your friends or family, do not excuse them, don't let them bring you down.
Our day will come.
My inheritance ($2 Million) was stolen by my Uncle/Aunt, one day i plan to destroy them all Django style.

No need for blood. Let them live a long and humiliating life and enjoy your vengeance till they miserably die.

Yeah it's kind of disturbing when your friends who know nothing about Bitcoin but see some news start telling you "you better watch out for that bitcoin thing" and post some stupid FUD article on your facebook wall Cheesy

LOL I think we all know this feeling exactly.

my kind auntie asked me this morning - "did you hear about those bitcoins in America this morning? they just dissapeared! I wouldnt want to own bitcoins. It's very risky."

and then there's those friends that read up a little bit into it and say - "well it's obviously gonna need regulation before it can take off. why would the US government do that?"

and when you tell those of your friends (that enthusiastically watched bitcoin peak at $1200, and asked "should I buy?") that you bought this morning in the crash and doubled your stake =D, they look at you like you're stupid. like "dont you know it's all over?"

they will be asking for my advice at $5k, and 10k. my num nuts friends.

Degenerate bull hatter & Bitcoin monotheist
My work colleague emailed me a Mt Gox article saying I better sleep with my bitcoins under my pillow.

Which isn't bad advice really even though he would have nfi.

I had to gently point out to him that I was up 28% yesterday and 15% today.

My mum told my dad not to waste his money on bitcoin at $2 because a $20 bank transaction fee to Mt Gox in Japan was just crazy expensive for such a silly hobby.

I told my dad I wanted some for my birthday. I didn't get any, I got a fig tree. Then I bough the dip after 266 and made 10x my money.

When family members are worried...that is the best time to buy.

There are people like that out there with bitcoins selling right now. All on bad FUD. And they will buy back in higher when they realize they were duped.

Heh, my mum said the same thing.... For the last 3 times.
Media really is brainwashing.

it is a mom thing she wants to keep the baby home away from the "big bad world"

(not true of my mom could not get me out the door fast enough...went home next weekend my room was toast
became a sewing room...kids come and go sewing rooms are forever I guess)

I'm always grumpy in the morning.
They tend to want to know where that last wire for $10k went.

Where I invest my money is none of their business. If they can't keep their nosy back-seat driver commentary out of it, then they haven't earned the right to know.

OTOH if it's not entirely your money (like if it's your family's shared money) then that's an entirely different story, and you shouldn't invest it without their consent.

QUICK TIP for people suffering from family problems every time BTC crashes:

Tell your family about only half of the BTC you own. Quietly multiply your BTC in the background without telling anybody. Then, when price crashes, call upon your reserves saying OH I SOLD AT TOP LOLOLOL and people tend to think you're some kind of super genius and are suddenly OK with you trading.

Even better advice... tell NOBODY!
