Someone on bitcointalk is harvesting all the emails and hacking people..

I lost 2 months work and thousands of dollars of tokens

this is the danger if we give our email to others, either to list the website as an investor or to list bounty. we should have 2 emails. the 1 to bounty or website, and 1 again we use to list in exchange or market. so whenever anyone knows our email, it does not matter because the email for our wallet is not that one.v maybe this is a trivial matter just because of email, but it is very big impact. maybe this is what we have to learn tallied for people who lose their great assets. thanks if you give me merrit XD

I hope OP don't know how to check the coin in the etherscan, already we can see the coins in your wallet. Sometime you need to add the custom code in order to display the coin.

This what makes MEW as an easy website to target by these hackers, they know that many are using MEW as it is the most popular wallet for ETH and also they know that there are too many users who don't care if they are visiting the real one. Those users that are not aware and too confident that their funds are safe, yes it is safe with the real MEW by they are careless by not knowing these type of hacking and copying of website's interface is possible. Also don't click links that are sent to your email addresses if the domain isn't familiar and real MEW.

myetherwallet is very difficult to be hacked by other users, but most of what happens is you get into the phishing website or you have propagated the private key to the crowd or you have incorrectly entered the eth address with the private key

No one can hack this wallet. Just thinking, your smartphone password just 9 characters but when you forgot, very difficult to unlock again
With 64 characters belong to private key (include characters and number) . How can the people hacking you?

Thanks for bringing this up. I'm learning from this and i'm wondering would creating many new wallets would prevent/reduce such incidents. At least one wallet hacked is not as bad as all wallets being hacked.

We never have to share private key to anyone,why they need private keys?
Some bounties are also asking for private keys so be aware of them they are all the scammers.
It is better bookmark the MEW site and login from that bookmark will save us from fake websites.

Yes, very sad to know about it because the problem is we are sharing our details with an in identified person without knowing anything. This made a lot of people to lose their personal wallet and they're hard earned money. Moreover, we have to be very careful when dealing with private keys.

Although you can just simply bookmark the website to make sure you will not mess everything, because sometimes we messed while we're typing, like for example we type myetherwallet.com , instead you put myetherwallets.com (notice the S) that can be used by phishing.
Be extra careful when visiting cryptocurrency related websites as well, there might be a trick hidden behind it to get your wallet's vital information. Im not that savvy with software and programs, but I can be more careful not to become a victim by these hackers.

If the tokens are unsold you may be able to get the issuer to redirect to new eth address. Just a chance.

I just got hit last night. I read somewhere that etherdelta may have been compromised so that may explain how they got into my account and others if you've use etherdelta or given access to other exchange with your account info. It seems I'm learning something new each week now, scams, thieves, etc. Costly.

mew plus metamask is much safer than having a mew account alone because by using a metamask your adding an extra security to your mew account and you rather use metamask to login in any exchange instead of exposing your mew private keys else where. Mew is basically prone to hacks and phising attempts that is why much better to avoid using it directly rather you only need alternatives such as metamask in orded to be secure for your online activities.

Some fake links are there in the online. We need to check the correct url of MEW and access the wallet site with the private key but most of the people loosing their money because of logging in to the fake site only. Other than that mass hacking will not be possible at all on the server.
Please do not take the advice of the people who lost the funds in individual hacking.
