No, no... this will broke the 'decentralized system'. Everyone can send money withouth any type of restrinction (this is why a lot of people 'love' BTC). If 'you' start to put restrinction, I think a lot of folk will abandon bitcoin.

I'm afraid you've been hacked. Those coins are a virus and you've now been infected. Next time you log in your balance will be sent to the ghost of satoshi.

I have received nominal amounts of bitcoin before, but then it disappears again a while later..I was a bit worried about it when it first happened, then concerned about how someone can send money and it not actually be in my account, I still don't get it, but it seems to be a bitcoin quirk..
That was probably an unconfirmed transaction. Most likely the sender didn't include a transaction fee, so the transaction never got mined and never made it into a block.

How would the deposit be used to track my future transactions? Can't my transactions be tracked just the same with or without the deposit?
What they can do is they can send a small amount to one of your old, empty addresses. One day your client will likely spend these coins in a transaction that involves other addresses you own, revealing some of your other bitcoin addresses. To avoid this you can use the "coin control" feature available in most wallets to prevent the tracked address being used in the same transaction as your other addresses.

Bitcoin wallets should have a protected code like Perfect Money has wherein a person can chose to receive the money or not. Receiving such unwanted bits is just a waste. Two more users reported this and received 0.0001 BTC from an HYIP/Ponzi website.

Should be advertising spam or anything like that. See the transaction in blockchain if there are some comments regarding that tx. Services often do that even in the past, and I can't see why they're doing such a thing. It's kinda ineffective and clogs the network and the receivers' wallet.

Others have had this happen and reported that it turned out to be a marketing campaign. I think it was a gambling operation that sent out tiny amounts. If I remember correctly there was also a message broadcast with the transaction.
But it does not lead to taking your bitcoins, anyone can send you some.

Whatever you do, don't open it! It will give the keys to all your wallets and then the sender will get all your coins. Please be careful! It is a scam.
