Kudos on the new wallets too, what is the chance of having the address screen again like in the 1.4 wallet versions?

Thanks, the main focus of the 1.5.1 release was actually bug fixes and other boring internal stuff (that nobody will appreciate but was necessary nonetheless) which will make things much easier for us going forward so that we can do more releases.
This is just the start of the UI changes and wallet improvements, we couldn't put up with such an ugly wallet any longer so we went ahead and did some UI changes for 1.5.1 even though it isn't initially what was planned.

Thanks to you and the rest of devs for making these changes. The standard bitcoin core wallets look awful, the changes you guys have made already makes a big difference.

https://community.gulden.com/t/should-we-lose-gulden-zone/1283/5 , people complaining about forums still. Get a life, with all this good development coming out I find it hard to believe this topic gets nitpicked on after half a year.

I read the whole story, I don't post on any of these 2 forums but I enjoy reading some of the topics. It started off with the forum owner of Gulden.zone wanting to shut down to have one main forum for Gulden but it turned into usual Dutch drama. Don't worry about it.   Wink

Development update:

Prelude:

The initial goal for 1.5.1 was only going to be sorting out bug fixes that came across with the 0.10/0.11 code base update.
A few weeks later it became a larger more in depth project due to the name change to Gulden and other concerns.

The below tasks were achieved for 1.5.1

1. Renaming to Gulden.
A lot more effort goes into a name change then what's on the surface especially on the building process of the wallet. QR codes with Gulden wallet will scan for old Guldencoin addresses and new
Gulden addresses so that all addresses are catered for going forward. The new android wallet update also includes both.

The install process also caters for moving the wallet.dat file into the new location so you don't have to do this manually. This was very important to implement for new users to Gulden and crypto.

2. UI update.
We felt it was important to put a unique touch on 1.5.1 to showcase the direction we moving. The UI changes and rebranding along with the removal of the overview screen and the addition of the backup tab felt like a good first move. The backup wallet button is not visible in normal wallets and as the saying goes "out of sight out of mind".

The progress bar is another added touch, instead of displaying a count down in time for the sync which would scare most users away a progress bar will now be visible during the sync process.

1.5.1 is the first changes we going to be making to the UI, we expect to have another release before the end of the year.

3. Bug fixes.

The 2 main fixes were:

The max fee(size) has been increased to cater for addresses where a lot of transactions (mainly mining) made up the balance of a particular wallet increasing the size of transactions being sent from that address.
KGW fix for linux 32bit builds.

4. Streamlining of the build process
MaNI has does a incredible job with our build server, a lot of the time for 1.5.1 was spent perfecting the process of delivering new wallet builds whenever we make changes and want to test or release. This is going to save us a lot of time in the future and we can start focusing on more functionality.

The above was a great team effort from the core developers to web design to testing.

1.5.1 is now available at our developer site: https://developer.gulden.com/apps

I have missed so much news in the last few days! Gulden.com and new stylish wallets. Love the changes taking place for Gulden!  Grin Grin

Just ignore the troll, this is a healthy correction due to the fact the supply amount on bittrex has stabilized at around 35 million. Demand vs Supply is balanced towards 550-650 for the time being.

There is a nice button for that below his name. And don't quote trolls, don't give them that credit.

2) Use coin control and set a fixed change address (be aware that this undermines your secrecy somewhat..) - you won't use a new address for every send transaction then.

Can this be done for all premine transactions?  The "active wallet" address documented on the premine webpage is GRMkjsTanendgQCNRGTpNusH118m3TtmfL yet it's almost always balance 0 as the transaction change is going to a newly created address every transaction.  Defeats the purpose of providing that address as a reference.

The premine is being dump on bittrex that why it always 0. people dump after you say this.

Mark does not trust why is rest of you. Dump today.

unlike the android wallet I have a hard time believing that e.g. the Linux or Windows wallet would ever have a flawed RNG as the RNG for Linux has been hardened for such a long time, so personally I don't view it as an actual risk, I would use a static change address without concern - but that is just my personal view.

F*ck ups can be made in many points down the line, even if the PRNG, or the encryption algos are not compromised by a three letter governmental body. Just a small example to illustrate (introduced by a Debian "developer", in OpenSSL, which doesn't even touch the Linux PRNG and kept undetected for 1,5 years.):

I installed the new Android wallet and imported the private keys of the old one before the wallet started to sync.

Is it possible syncing the Android wallet takes longer with imported private keys?

Win7 64
latest wallet build

Have tried to sync wallet twice for multiple hours. Even deleted everything in roam folder and started over.
Same result each time, wallet gets stuck with 20 weeks left.

Ideas?
Sync again, if it gets stuck PM me the debug.log, along with your Gulden.conf (if you have one) and any other relevant information.

Short answer, yes.

Long answer: yes, but it makes the address more vulnerable to potential flaws like this http://www.coindesk.com/developers-find-android-flaw-that-makes-bitcoin-wallets-vulnerable-to-theft/ - unlike the android wallet I have a hard time believing that e.g. the Linux or Windows wallet would ever have a flawed RNG as the RNG for Linux has been hardened for such a long time, so personally I don't view it as an actual risk, I would use a static change address without concern - but that is just my personal view.
Whether the pros outweigh the cons in the case of something like the premine is up to the people running the premine and the community as a whole to decide I guess.
