Good to see zooko following anonymint's work.

Thanks for writing this. I think it is an important point that the safety of "mixing" schemes (including ringsigs) depends on the nature of the "decoy" inputs. I'd like to see a more rigorous analysis of what exactly the requirements are for safety of schemes like the one Monero currently uses, under adversarial conditions.

If someone wanted to gain more ability to break the privacy of future Monero transactions, the way to do it would be to generate lots of dummy transactions between now and then so that the future Monero transactions would accidentally choose your transactions as decoys, thinking that they were getting privacy that way, but actually since those are your transactions, it doesn't provide any privacy from you. Right?

Because it's spammy copied and pasted all over
Links and topics therein are different. As you can see there are multiple blog posts.
It's pasted all over because it's relevant to the topics.

which is coincidentally why he is banned here.
I am not the one who allows multiple duplicate threads on the same subjects, thus forcing me to copy posts to the multiple threads on the same topics.

Here is the PM i got...

Apologies, I genuinely thought you might be interested in the topic (regardless whether steem is scam) because you had so often claimed that Monero is a scam.
Thought it's true that you could see link(s) in one of the threads here.
No worries, I will not bother you anymore.

No "Bitcoin Killer" is coming.
The end.

"Bitcoin Killer" is coming.
The end is near.

Hi Spoetnik,

Here is Shelby's most recent blog about anonymity - monero and dash also, if you are interested:

Steem is a scam.
The guy is full of shit and mentally ill.
No "Bitcoin Killer" is coming.
The end.

Quoted for posterity.

It seems Anytime i post a shelby link the worthless mods delete it. Hopefully I can atleast quote this for posterity.

You got to ask yourselves why the mods are such bitches? Are they just fat basement dwellers who don't get enough pussy? Ill give some advice, go on a diet, go out, talk to some ladies, have confidence, get laid.

Can we get over this joke already?

What? You just resurrected a thread that hasn't been replied to for over a month.

Speaking of, I think there is a whitepaper being worked on, and looking forward to reading it.

Story of my life redux: Kafkaesque & the lesson of the open door

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Kafkaesque

Kafkaesque has become evocative of all “unnecessarily complicated and frustrating experiences, like being forced to navigate labyrinths of bureaucracy.”

Kaf·ka·esque
ˌkäfkəˈesk/
adjective
characteristic or reminiscent of the oppressive or nightmarish qualities of Franz Kafka's fictional world.
Kafkaesque

Comes from the author Franz Kafka, and refers to the style with which he wrote his books (which in his dying wish asked for to be burned).

Basically it describes a nightmarish situation which most people can somehow relate to, although strongly surreal. With an ethereal, "evil", omnipotent power floating just beyond the senses.

You go to the city to see the law. Upon arrival outside the building, there is a guard who says "You may not pass without permission", you notice that the door is open, but it closed enough for you to not see anything (the law).

You point out that you can easily go into the building, and the guard agrees. Rather than be disagreeable, however, you decide to wait until you have permission.

You wait for many years, and when you're an old, shriveled wreck, you get yourself to ask:

"During all the years I've waited here, no-one else has tried to pass in to see the law, why is this?", and the guard answers:

"It is true that no-one else has passed here, that is because this door was always meant solely for you, but now, it is closed forever".

He then procceeds to close the door and calmly walk away.

This is in fact, one of his short stories, and is very typical to his style, i.e. kafkaesque.

I can detect my health is really improving a lot, because I am starting to get back the energy (and thus mental locomotion, intense focus, and clarity) to make research level insights again.

Research level insight first published on Rust’s forum by myself:

https://users.rust-lang.org/t/high-order-function-with-type-parameter/3112/30

(Don't know if anyone else made this point in the prior art, I presume probably yes)

P.S. I doubt Bitcoin core devs can do the above, because programming language typing is not their area of specialization (especially the number theorists/cryptographers). We have different talents and specializations, so we need to learn to respect each other.

Kaboom! I just blew up every modern OOP language including C++ and Java:

https://users.rust-lang.org/t/high-order-function-with-type-parameter/3112/37

And iCEBREAKER's allegation that I don't code and that only one or two Rust community members interact with me is REKTED (yet again lol):

https://users.rust-lang.org/t/high-order-function-with-type-parameter/3112/49

Get off my lawn son. It is annoying (although humorously pitiful) when you accuse people who are more knowledgable than you. I am not bragging. I am humbled by all that I don't know and want to learn. I am just saying don't blow your usual technically-challenged, disrespectful snot all over my thread. Amicable, respectful, or even disrespectful technically astute comments are always welcome. Your jokes are welcome (you do have some talent and redeeming qualities).

Edit: iCEBREAKER has a pointUndecided

Animosity is not good. We're just having fun here with our altcoins (or "shitcoins" for others - depending one's view I guess) Cheesy

Just 5 minutes of anger can cause one's immune system to underperform for up to 7-10 hours or so.

On the other hand, 5 minutes of loving feelings (gratitude, appreciation) can have the same positive effect to the immune system, extending for several hours.

The "battle mode" that one might engage in while foruming and debating in troll threads, is not really conductive to one's health. It must be viewed as a fun exercise.

Three beers to that :lifting mugs:

Another major advance for programming language design from me!

I am starting to fire on all of my cylinders as I used to do when I was prolific. Damn illness the past 4 years held me back. I am feeling pretty good.

I need to backup this info some where, in case every Rust forum private threads disappear. So I am putting this here so others can read about my design progress.

Dynamic dispatch (virtual functions etc) are pathological on modern hardware, and slowdowns can be an order of magnitude or more.

I have realized that because my design separates the injection of the dictionaries orthogonal the objects (unlike for example Rust which puts the vtable pointer in the trait object), and since the caller (at the injection level) knows the data types precisely, then we can completely inline the virtual dispatch with an optimizing compiler! Problem solved. No need to avoid the cool abstraction any more! Wow! I am breaking down major walls in PL design!

Edit: note this is entirely due to the first-class unions. Thus instead of having trait bounds and throwing away the compile-time of the data types, the injection point caller knows the actual union of dictionaries required. So now we see why first-class unions are a major paradigm shift!

And today the ZenScript (or just Zen) programming language was born!

If you want to understand what level of master programmer I am, read my comments on these Issues:

https://github.com/keean/traitscript/issues

Well you probably need to be a some what master programmer to even understand that I am a master programmer, because otherwise you wouldn't be able to discern the difference.

Can you explain this to the non-masters here? What is the goal and use for zen? Hmm that sounds like a philosophical question in itself.

Today is AnonyMint's 51st birthday.

Something posted else where that should also be here.

I was unable to quote a post from the Vcash thread because they closed thread. Click here to read it.

no don't think it will its been around for nearly a decade and it should start getting increasingly more popular.

How can it get more popular if it can't scale  Huh

Hope you realize BitCON is less popular than a shitty, bottom tier social network.

Even a moderately popular mobile app has more users than BitCON.

Delusion is nice isn't it.

Re: Will Bitcoin be replaced by another cryptocurrency?

Yes it could happen but i doubt very much it will happen the short to medium term, to actually make bitcoin obsolete would be a achievement.

It would have to offer something very important for mass adoption which Bitcoin doesn't offer.

Transactions that confirm in a minute?  Smiley

Seriously, mass adoption means people actually use it for their shopping. If you send coins but the vendor doesn't receive them, then you are in limbo - some ordinary people will even accuse the vendor of doing something shady, when the problem is that the transaction isn't even in the blockchain.

It will be something that simple that will prevent bitcoin mass adoption.

Transactions that confirm definitely in a minute aren't a problem.
There were some places which accepted zero confirmation transactions for low value items, because they were sure that the transaction would confirm. This is no longer the case.  Smiley

I will provide 1 second transactions that are confirmed on a block chain that can't be centralized by miners.

BitCON's 0-confirmation transactions depend on propagation, thus they can't scale without centralization of control. And in fact they can't scale to 1000s of transactions per second and certainly not millions of txns/sec required for Internet microtransactions. Lightning Networks (LN) is proposed, but it can't scale either and has other serious clusterfuck issues. Vcash's Zerotime also can't scale.

So sorry, BitCON can't scale without being centralized. But if it is centralized, then you lost all the advantages of not being fiat and you've added the 666 enslavement.

Security and reliability cannot be copied.
(dont adopt segwit)

SegWit is the admission of the defeat of decentralization, BitCON will become fully centralized (which is what LN requires any way):

LN can't send a payment from Bitcoin address to any Bitcoin address. It requires users establish accounts in the LN before they can be eligible, i.e. it is an opt-in system and it is not persistent.

LN is an incredibly complex Rube Goldberg kludge patched on top of an inadequate block chain design and there IS a better solution coming. You have to discard the Bitcoin block chain and Satoshi's design and start over.

In general, Bitcoin is moving towards centralization over the control of which nodes validate and thus which can do capital controls and KYC enforcement on transactions:

Just take it easy. Take nice summer vacations. There is no hurry.  Oh i found perfect name for coin. Mañana or XMñ.

Hahaha. When you see the name of my coin, you will shit your pants.

Remember I thought of the name Iota in 2014. Apparently someone in my inner circle may have leaked it, and I did apparently have Nxt insiders who had infiltrated my inner circle (not jl777 as we were not in communication in early 2014).

Only one other person besides myself knows the new name of my coin. Many people are going to be kicking themselves for not thinking of this name.

Ah I see you are probably attacking me because you probably think I attacked smooth.

I am not attacking anyone. But I would love that more people would stick to what they write. So i remind them sometimes. Sometimes is better to tell to less then to much. Like you said with the name. Nexttime say i will release coin in 2 years altho you know you will in 1 year.

If you add 16th May one month you get hmm.

At that time I was considering cutting some corners and releasing something less ambitious and then gradually improving it. But I changed my mind. My co-developer was obviously jl777. And I was also in discussions to work on BTCD and apply some of my ideas there. But obviously the forum attacked me when I mentioned about the possibility of launching an ICO that could be a precursor to JAMBOX, so I abandoned that possible direction. Also I had stated that my heart wasn't really in doing an ICO. Note contrary to what some others wrote, jl777 has never pressured me. I was just exploring the possibilities and trying to make a rational decision as to the best choice of priorities.

Also note that I went on a tangent about creating a new programming language for about a month, which was far too ambitious for a one man coding team. I decided to proceed until the research and discussion on that new PL had reached a plateau where it could be paused without losing too much continuity or in process discussion. I put that on pause about 2-3 weeks ago and reserved as a future work.

My plans for JAMBOX and in-app currency may benefit greatly from that work on a new PL (for reasons I'd rather not detail now), but that necessarily has to be a priority that comes well after launch and with more funding to make such work move forward at a faster pace (i.e. not only me as the sole developer).

If you add 16th May one month you get hmm.

At that time I was considering cutting some corners and releasing something less ambitious and then gradually improving it. But I changed my mind. My "co-developer" was obviously jl777 but not really in the sense of him working for me as it would have only been the other way around if at all or merely loosely coupled collaboration. And I was also in discussions to work on BTCD and apply some of my ideas there. But obviously the forum attacked me when I mentioned about the possibility of launching an ICO that could be a precursor to JAMBOX, so I abandoned that possible direction. Also I had stated that my heart wasn't really in doing an ICO (and at the time I also felt doing an ICO would be illegal for me as a US citizen although my perspective on that has somewhat changed just recently). Note contrary to what some others wrote (what was his name HUGO HONCHO?), jl777 has never pressured me and we have always been helpful to each other.

That multi-week effort was mostly in discussions with Keean Schupke Chief Technology Officer at Fry-IT Ltd who is quite prolific in PL design having published a white paper with the well known functional programming guru Oleg. I also received a tentative offer from him to offer some assistance in his part-time if I do proceed. I was very happy to connect with someone of his caliber. I felt that tangent was also very useful in guiding about choices for an interim existing PL choice in the meantime, because it helped me see clearly the priorities and future the issue around PLs.

My plans for JAMBOX and in-app currency may benefit greatly from that work on a new PL (for reasons I'd rather not detail now), but that necessarily has to be a priority that comes well after launch and with more funding to make such work move forward at a faster pace (i.e. not only me as the sole developer).
