I don't think we should be voting yet. Obviously none of thee Stand out strongly enough for a large amount of support. I don't like any of these and I have seen better in hold forum. We need one last thread where we can have a "surge" of brainstorms where any and all ideas can be posted. Then set a date where we must set up a final vote, say around the launch of beta or so. This group of designs is NOT strong enough to warrant a vote at this point! Give it a little more time and we will have a very competitive group. I would consider it an interim vote. These are the best in the pool and the logo submission has been open for a long time. And don't do "design by committee", rarely anything good can come out. If you have something nice to propose, put it here.
100% agree about the "design by committee" comment!
The voting results here will help provide some guidance as to what kind of things the community likes. We are still working on modifications of the tomoe design and I think Loi is working on a design too. I think what would be the most helpful here would be to explain why people like certain aspects of a logo they chose and what are some cons about it. Everything has pros and cons, so please try to list them up and provide helpful feedback.
Thanks for being receptive. The new modifications to Tome logo are good because it eliminates the odd shape of the outer ring.
To me there is a strong contrast between the tome and the cube logo. One is of traditional, old-fashioned style versus one of a modern, futuristic style. Can't be more different. If it might work if Loi can infuse a strong dose of modernity to yours but as it is the cube is much better to my eyes.
We are a community and nothing is set in stone yet, so I want everyone to try to contribute and help build our brand.
You are right about the contrast between old and new. To be honest, I like that contrast. It is non-diegetic and I think it helps to stand out from other coin logos (well, that was the objective in the design).
Loi's design is good, but the problem is I think the cube doesn't represent what NEM is, and a lot of the logo committee agreed. It is well balanced and designed (he is a pro, after all), but the concept needs a little work I think. I don't think a cube represents NEM and I think simply incorporating the letters N E M is not enough (you can't see that anyway, without being taught). Loi is really busy right now it seems, but I hope he can try to come up with some new ideas.
Rather than just going to 99 designs, as many have suggested, I would prefer to have the community or someone like Loi who works with us to build the logo. I think that will be more meaningful than a pretty logo created by a hired hand, who isn't interested in our movement. The most ideal situation would be to have a team of several designers who are pros and work to build our brand because they are passionate about what we are doing.
We'll continue to make improvements and see what will happen. For the final design, a professional like Loi or someone else will definitely be used to create something and the community will be given an opportunity to comment on it. Something like that should work well I think, though maybe someone has other suggestions?
Anyway, if you have ideas, PLEASE come on trello and help out.
