What the hell are you guys thinking? The thought that anyone thinks NEMophile is a solid term is quite disturbing. I know what ophile means, but people only think of one thing when it's at the end of a word. Put your marketing hats on.
You have a point - the marketing appeal would be magnetic for a person like you.
Imagine the publicity generated by dirty- and suspicious-minded folks who spread around "NEMophile = Pedophile." And, to size up if you're the right kind of person for this promo, imagine yourself going to venue after venue and writing, "NEMophile means lover of NEM - the New Economy Movement! Why do you people have such dirty minds?"
Would y'all take pleasure in correcting gossiper after gossiper, all the time using the opportunity to spread the good word about NEM? Would it be a joy rather than a chore to set people straight and promote NEM at the same time? Then "NEMophile" will be a huge publicity kernel. All it takes for the kernel to develop is enough NEMsters willing to politely correct the slew of dirty-gossip'ers.
But on the other hand...if you see "NEMophile = Pedophile" as FUD, and see correcting people as a drag and a headache, then the publicity isn't worth the hassle.
I submit that this one's up to the community. I just 'umbly spell out what I see as the opportunity and the hazard.

Any update about the auction? Has it started yet?
not yet, probably won't start until the open Alpha since we want to avoid scam accusation.
I'm sure NEM will be fine. Just be as open and transparent as you guys have been,
and everything will be ok.

Here are some proposed names with my superb interpretation
also foraging should be called swaging
- NEMsters - hamsters, hipsters
- NEMtos - the fresh maker
- NEMmings - lemmings, not sure how I feel about guys who walk in circles
- NEMphies - we got selfies, groupies, and now NEMphies
- NEMophile - too obvious
- NEMist - rapist
- NEMitician - politician
- NEMberry - blueberry
- nemolites - troglodytes
- nemlets - applets
