So is the coin generation called 'foraging' then? Is this final? I'm not sure I like it... it's not a word suited to a highly technological platform. 'Foraging' brings images to mind of people rummaging in bushes or shrubs to find berries or something...

To me, a word like 'minting' sounds much better.

I just think it sounds better. Has a ring to it. Thoughts?

I cannot stand the term "foraging". I'm glad to see someone else has an issue with this.

"Minting" does sound a lot better, but that word refers more to the creation aspect. Qubic's Network PoW is like our PoI, and they use "Minted" to describe how Qubic's are created and "Providers" are the nodes.

Here are the two posts on this subject:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.5852350

At that time "Guarding" is what I came up with, but later chanc3r mentioned the word "Validating", which I like better.
"Validating" and "Providers" are good descriptions, but let's work on this and come up with the perfect name.

Please, anything but "foraging".

Yeah, the more I think about it 'foraging' sounds worse and worse... you wouldn't 'fish' or 'hunt' for coins would you?

Why would using 'forging' be a bad thing anyway? Every single PoW coin uses the word 'mining' despite differences in their individual algorithms. If 'foraging' was an attempt to be different than NXT then it's failed; it looks like exactly the same word at a glance.

I find nothing wrong with the just plain - good old fashion "forging".

Is  there anyone else that would like to replace the term "foraging"?

How about "harvesting" or "reaping" ? so harvester or reaper. Forging is not a good word neither because the process does not resemble "forging" anything.

Have a good harvesting season. I have been harvesting NEM all nights.

i actually had an idea last night... can we get a multipool mining now? i mean launch the multipool now and let it build up the btc until the coin actually launches? the mining power it could draw due to the massive interest in nem would be huge! and plus if btc takes a massive run up again you will see the dificulty of most coins go through the roof again... why not build up some funds up.. if nem wants to drop a bit after launch let it.. then after the drop start buying up with the mined funds..? what you think?

Sorry to disappoint you, but ShareCoin has already implemented the idea. It has a working multipool even though the coins have not been distributed yet.

If it's any consolation, you can still apply for a free stake.

Yeah, they were pretty proud to beat NEM to the punch. Good for them. As long our multi-pool functions as planned its a big win regardless if we go first.

@kodtycoon,

Hows it looking?

NEM is gonna be the best!!! Top 10 marketcap within 1 month!

I have a feeling this was satirical... but a $10M market capitalisation within a month seems perfectly reasonable to me; that would place NEM in the top 10.

Seldom interested in a couple of things, I carefully carry out your project, it is very promising, but with improved in detail place, you also have been trying to do to complete this project, I really also very sweet to join, so now have a supplication.
Please count me in this project.

I have a question about the NEM client. My family has only one computer, is it safe to run a node while other family members use the same PC? I would like to be able to foraging 24-7 and am concerned that my brother might inadvertently or purposely transfer out some NEM. Are the NEM wallet functions locked while foraging? If not, can it have a user selectable wallet mode and foraging only mode?

I think it'll be easy enough to make it where he will need your password to send out funds.

No it was not. I think the network effect will push this coin to good heights!

Well, I stand corrected. Let's hope so, eh!
