mining is so 2012-2013
Is anybody going to be in England next month. This looks pretty cool. I think this conference would be pretty big. It would be neat if somebody could go and pass out NEM fliers.

Move On !!!!!!

Err, in this case I tend to agree. I'm sure amazing things will be built on top of it.

As an actual transactional platform I found it pretty agonising to use. Joe Public would run screaming he tried to use it in its current form.

Crypto is definitely not very user friendly atm. We will improve that, but it will take time.

Even BTC is not user friendly at the moment, not to mention other cryptos. Just look at the process of obtaining BTCs! Until this doesn't get simplified, there is no further adoption and crypto revolution!

That post isn't worth the read. What an ignorant person that must be.
Best thing is that he complains about having to "buy in" to forge. How stupid is that ? Cuz it's so cheap to successfully mine in bitcoin right ? You only need half a datacenter Roll Eyes

"You're either part of the solution or you're part of the problem"

The article writer is definitely part of the problem.

Notice that's on the "buttcoin" subreddit which is full of people who, in my opinion, likely got burned investing in Bitcoin and now just love to circlejerk about how all crypto is a scam.

Or chased the altcoin rabbit down the shitcoin hole and lost everything.  It's still the Wild West of finance out there.  Fools and their money and all..

You don't think those same ridiculous criticisms will apply to NEM?

some perhaps, but wouldnt be even close to as bad.. the ones that might apply come down to lack of understanding of the system rather than something actually being wrong with nem.. nothing a bit of education cant solve.. Wink

That link sounds like the wailings of a disillusioned ripple "investor" seeing capital flee that centralized shitbox to more solid footings.

Who is NXT-S7RD-ETUJ-HQ53-5D4KX ?

He bought 8.8 NEMstakes last days.
Some big whale started to hoard up NEMstakes.

It took me three months to get 0.3... :/

It's our friend, stadtfeger Smiley

Actually, he seems to be an okay guy, and 8.8/4000 stakes is still not a whole lot. I hope he will contribute to NEM.

Sorry if it has been answered earlier, any ETA on launch? I remembered hearing something around February.

Has the redemptions been stopped?

concerning bugfixing:
has there been any proofreading (i.e. bug hunting) of the sourcecode?

Pardon my ignorance, I haven't followed the progress in that respect so much Sad

Said it before, i'll say it again;

I'm only interested in a solid platform. I don't want another bitcoin where there's so many patches and holes it makes people wary of investment. This is not what NEM needs.

very happy to see so many people showing their support like this however compered to the number of people in nem, those showing support are relatively few so i urge those who feel the same to speak up and give the devs the support they deserve. we all benefit if things are done properly first time around. im sure fixing bugs after launch becomes a much more challenging and time consuming task so 2 months extra spent developing pre launch could save 5 after launch. it may feel like delays but if anything it will speed up development a lot in the future.

You make a great point and a message of reason, thanks kodtycoon, makes sense to me.
