They might be one small reason of many other reason. But not THE reason like the article suggests. By the way ... "Disclosure: EcoBit is the source of this content."
So EcoBit is pushing this nonesense in news outlets now. Pretty presumptuous if you ask me.

You either need your wallet + password or your private key. Without one of these the money is unfortunately lost forever.

Keep trying man, try different passwords, try NEM IRC and public forum, but never share keys, pass-phrases or backup files. I wish you get lucky, you still have your XEMs somewhere buried, not like me and many others who sold them long time ago for (almost) nothing.

Yeah, I guess many NEM people here feel these days similar to that BTC pizza boy that spent 10k BTC - 19 million USD in current prices - for just one fast food meal.

my uncle is here joining me into the NEM train

we call him in the family googleman
he bought google shares for 88$ in 2005
and sold them for 130$ in the same year he was very happy at the time i remember
not now

he can't hide his sadness watching google eating the whole planet lol

I would not be much surprised with NEM being on 1st place by the end of next year. Ripple is not decentralized, BTC is technologically behind, ETH will die by its own weight. Who will last? NEM or someone new.

I think there is still a possibility. NEM market cap doubled from 1 billion to 2 billion in 2 days. Anything is possible.

I thought I had the private key saved but did not, so when I installed windows 10 upgrading from windows 8 the wallet file was lost. Had microsoft not released it, I might have both stakes yet. :p

there is a way to recover your stake
