still not done adding to my position   Tongue

Me neither, people are finally starting to realise that XEM is not just another shitcoin. I hope a little news on the ZAIF exchange, APEX exchange etc. will push xem to 1000 sats  Smiley

Ive just bought a Pine64 computer through kickstarter.
http://pine64.com/

This should be more powerful than a raspberry pi, and will be great to run a XEM node!

The issue is the RAM.

Ideally you need about 2GB. I've yet to see a PI that meets this requirements.

I've currently ran NIS on my PI successfully without too many hiccups, but the limiting factor is the RAM and i expect, as the blockchain grows, this will very quickly make my PI obsolete as it'll exhaust that 1GB quickly.

This is NOT a raspberry pi !
Ive just bought the 2GB model! Grin

I didnt think RAM was that big an issue anyway, since NIS on my PC does not consume anywhere near that much RAM, i didnt think it even needed to load the whole blockchain into memory does it?
Interesting little board.

If you set this up successfully please give a tutorial for the community  Smiley

I'd love to setup a node, but am not that technical...

I would love to see that one as well. I wonder how many wallets it can run, currently I am running 12 staking wallets on my pc.

I also tried to download  the wallet, using windows 10, but it is blocked by the smart screen filter. Even when putting the smart screen filter off, I still got the message.

And just one more question: http://faucet.nem.io/ looks still down/not working, after (more than) month. Quantum_Mechanics is not maintaining this site/project anymore ?

I believe that working faucet is as "good marking strategy", as easy way how to obtain some "pretty small initial amount" for new users ... and it means to attract more new users, which is (IMHO) crucial for every altcoin...

I'd like to maintain it but as I said before no access to this server actually. I've got a lot of PMs regarding this issue, it will be fixed in a couple weeks (maybe a bit more) when I get back home with the IP allowed to connect. No worries, it'll be back.

Thanks, mate, glad to hear that you're (or the useful faucet project is) not vanished in the haze :-)

NEM is approaching the market cap of NXT quickly whereas we haven't even really started yet and NXT has been functional for a couple of years. I think this says a lot about the potential of NEM, I d like to see a market cap in the range of 100 billion - 1 trillion in the long run.  Cool

NXT somewhat shows that it doesn't matter how many features you have, as it is loaded with features.  Without real world use/adoption the ecosystem won't grow.

Paleontologists are looking for the "missing link" ape -human.
I miss the link between "mijin" and "Xem".
As far as I can see, the use of "mijin" is not free of charge.

Is it possible to base the mijin fee system on XEM as cryptocurrency/accounting unit?

May be, this could be the requested "pitch".

Some people have been complaining about Mijin, but look what exposure it has given NEM and the price increase in XEM.

I posted this snippet of a venture capitalist talking about public/private chains and he basically gives the strategy of NEM/Mijin.
(He believes there will be a constellation of chains, and the public chain that will be used will default to Bitcoin)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c9CjWz2N5Hs&feature=youtu.be&t=58m22s

You cant expect a huge company to incorporate a public/permissionless blockchain into their business.  But many companies are willing
to experiment with a private/permissioned blockchain.  We see that interest in Mijin with over 160 companies signing up for their Beta test.

The more companies that sign up and use Mijin, the more they will have the opportunity to use the public chain of NEM.

Bottom line is no one how this will pan out, but this strategy seems to be a wise path...

Any idea on what price we might be looking at when zaif starts trading?

500-600 sats would be my guess. I mean we all want to see 5000+ sats.

500 -600???  is that not a little bit to high??

of course it is. people get a little to optimistic sometimes.

Still think my prediction is too high?

Yes. Are you buying all those XEMs up just to prove me wrong ?  Grin

Just a friendly warning to all newcomers and reminder for the seniors out here:

Don't trust any exchange with your XEM, they're much safer in a wallet!

Remember Mt Gox, mintpal, cryptsy (http://blog.cryptsy.com/) , just to name a few...

Setting up a lightwallet literally only takes two minutes!

Make sure you backup your private key somewhere safe!

Remember, as long as you have your private key you will be able to gain access to your account. (Obviously if you can anyone else can so keep it safe ! )

There is - afaik - no technical, phsyical link between NEM and mijin.
Right now people see 3 links.

When talking about mijin usually people also talk about NEM (articles and stuff)
If a company can't afford mijin they can use NEM since the API is exactly the same.
Both platforms profit from each other's developments. I.e. code optimizations will benefit both projects where applicable.

Interesting! So you can't really use this for, let's say, staking 10 and more coins? (like NEM, NXT and a bunch of other bitcoin based altcoins...)

A cheap and low-power solution for staking would be great.

This. So much!

It's absurd how many XEM are on Poloniex.
I'm not saying there is any evidence but Polo could be the next, Gox, Bter, cryptsy.
