I see nothing but good reviews for them, I assume the catch is making sure you live in an area where there is high speed coverage. Just check their coverage maps. Good news is even if the whole nation isn't 4G on Republic Wireless, they still have lower speed service and cell service in most of the country anyway, so you don't have to worry about being stranded on a road trip or something without service. Also because of the WiFi phone service you can really use it internationally for a lot less than other networks with huge roaming fees etc.

Yah they are one of the best out there for sure, and honestly I think that their problem is that they just don't get enough recognition at how competitive they really are which isn't a bad thing to be their top complaint at all, the adjustable plan option depending on how much data you use as well is a bonus and besides Ting don't know any other company that allows you to change your monthly plan depending on if you need it or not basically you can customize it for when you need more or less data XD

And yah it looks like it is a coverage that may be an issue but there were a few other services that cover it more.
At least it shifts into another network though if you need it so I believe it autocovers it.

There is also another provider called Ting haven't tried them myself but they might work if Republic is not in your coverage area
https://ting.com/r/ir3lb6q1j2

The neat thing about Ting is that they have a unique pricing model: you can bring your own Sprint-network phone (some people pick them up on eBay), or buy one directly from them. Then you use talk, text, and data as you see fit and they automatically adjust your plan based on a bucket system with six sizes: Small through XXL. You can add additional phones at $6 per month each and share the same pools.

And as if that wasn’t enough flexibility, you can also jump between any of these plans freely, up to twice each month.

You can read up more on them here
http://www.mrmoneymustache.com/2013/11/16/republic-wireless-old-phone-new-phone-and-a-tempting-competitor/

You can use the Sprint Network so it will likely cover your area that said you will need to look at the map to make sure.

Hope it helps

Republic wireless looks like a great deal. Thanks for that.

No problem its not one of the big companies as well and with a Tether it probably is cheaper and faster than Comcast  Grin
Anyways I have heard only good things about it but give me a heads up on how it works if you switch
Not in the USA myself but I keep track of it Smiley

Oh, no, I wouldn't say most households in the U.S. have access to only 2 or less providers. Most people I know have access to quite a few of them, but their prices or speeds are just ridiculous and there is always only 1 more or less decent one that provides coverage where you live.

Our options are either ultra slow dsl or Comcast. I hate both but comcast is faster.

Well a few places have Municipal Wire in the USA but otherwise I would say share a network with your neighbors as it seems like the most efficient way to get revenge.

Cancel your subscription but still have a line in a sense.

If Sprint ever updates the cell network around here I might go with my 4g connection as my primary internet.

Just try Republic Wireless if it covers your area and save some cash

Or something from the comments section like this one for tethering
http://www.freedompop.com/offer/mustache

Tethering just means taking the cellular data network and converting it to a signal your gadgets other than phones (such as a laptop computer) can make use of. This allows you to, for example, be a passenger in a car or train and work uninterrupted on your computer.. or provide your own internet access in a hotel which normally charges for access.

Man, we have it even worse in Canada. Some facts - "According to the CIRA 2013 Factbook, Canadians spend more time online than anyone else in the world—an average of 45 hours a month...According to Harvard researchers, Canada has some of the lowest internet standards among OECD countries, as a result of high costs and slow internet speeds."

You are absolutely right, as more and more people stop watching TV (I haven't watched it for probably about 5 years) these companies lose more profit so they're trying to fuck us over. This wonderful video comes to mind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ilMx7k7mso

That is one of my favorite videos. They nailed it spot on.

Would it be too much to ask to create ISPs that are entirely separate from TV?

and how would you go about doing that? besides that, a lot of people would be up in arms if that were the case. it would just be another way for ISPs to draw money from us.

Yeah. Save some bucks, take your laptop, and just walk to your local cafe with Internet access. Bring your laptop, buy some coffee, and we can all sit around and talk loudly about how awesome Bitcoin is, bitch about lame ISPs, talk about how some people shouldn't have children, you know, the usual stuff. And while that's going on, the ISPs will all be going, "WTF??"
