Very funny. Are there some sort of code review in Verge?

Am I right in assuming that:

The network will see the longest chain in the network with sufficient nodes as the correct one, thereby validating the low difficulty blocks on the longest chain?
That would mean that the attacker has to have a lot of full nodes up and running, with which he/she privately mines.
if just one node gets the attacker's longest chain, then it should propagate to all the other nodes. depending on the nature of the exploit, it is possible attacker doesnt have any large hashrate and is just using a single node to broadcast the blocks into the network

Seriously? Quite amazing that doesn't happen more often.
most coins dont have such an exploit available

I'm amazed at how bad the Devs have handled this important situation. Probs to OCMiner for letting us know about the hack/exploit  Smiley

Yeah so i am not so in the materia of programming so is this a bad thing for verge and how long will it take for their porgammers to fix that issue

The most important thing is to fix it now. We can't change the past but we can change the future.

Very funny. Are there some sort of code review in Verge?

They were supposed to have 3. Two apparently came back and they weren't up to standard (again, apparently). What "not up to standard" probably means is that "they called us out on our shit code and we don't like it so we're not going to go public with it"

I really don't see how changing drift from 2 hours to 15 mins is a good solution for the issue.

What do you expect from a pretend dev? He copied the "fix" from peercoin(including the mistake in the comment). And the fix wasn't even a fix to begin with. It wasn't tested by the peercoin devs lol.

OMG!!!! First good try of 51% attack!

Is it really the first one ?
It is proof of concept it seems but in these early days of CC i'd be fine with a small rollback a timely patch and a lesson learned.

Its not like CC's are the only thing beeing hacked these days.. what'd you expect with boxes full of $$'s.

More coffee and less pr0n for the devs though.

And THX OCminer, i learned some more today.

PS. Isn't noone happy that this wasn't a buyin 51% attack ? Could have killed a 100 coins with that.

This is hilarious, I still don't know why this coin has any support at all - it is totally worthless.

Not a big deal as the profitability of mining it is around 11k sats from a GTX1060 and that doesn't even refund the cost of electricity as BTC got down to $6700 but as some dude has linked me to the thread I know now that there was some attack. Probably it's time to buy cheap or something but I an't got no Ke$h. Stoopid Coinsmarkets stole it all
