I like your post since this is a awareness especially newcomers not to trust anyone especially when it comes to crypto funds or crypto wallets. However, as I read some replies I notice that there are threads already being made that was good to check for a list of trusted wallet in cryptocurrency.

I guess that it is a good practice to always be aware or be cautios in making decisions of cryptocurrency. And helping others out not get involved or jump in to the things that are not familar. Half bake knowledge is dangerous especially when it involves funds or money. I think that the best way to deal with cryptocurrency is to always ask here and see that there will be users willing to extend and give their help.

And here if there are good offer about cryptocurrency especiallynearning huge fast and easy then start to wonder it already because it is possible that it is a fraud or scamming activity. As what they say that if it is good to be true probably isn't always correct

There is one thing of free wallet that forces someone to download such wallet, its either bounty campaigns or airdrop campaign. Participants would be promised to rewards in the newly downloaded wallet while theyvrush to download it, while at end might not or revive payments, via the app, to be on a safe side, no not operate with app that require you to fund into it as there is no testing of app with fund from users, any platform asking for fund is a complete scam one. The wallets you mentioned above are the well recognised and easy to used wallet as constitute a less fee and fast transaction coefficient.

It's like that with most things. The more you pay the better service you get.

A free wallet from unknown source will usually be a scam. A trusted free wallet will be better but a hardware wallet will be the best and the safest.

Don't forget to verify the key when you download any of the wallets and get a copy of all your keys and phrases in case you download that trojan that encrypts your files.

I am.not familiar with the list of wallets being mention above but I guess that would be good since other users agreed to it. Yes, we need a good wallet to store our crypto especially bitcoin but when it comes to storing huge amount of bitcoin the ideal wallet to store it with are those offline wallets. Electrum may work best here nd other devices like Jet Cash had been receiving.  Anyway, there are also exchanges that can be like a wallet too but this is discourage of course we know that exchanges are target to hacking activities.

I agree with you that using well-known and reliable wallets is safer than using new and unsafe wallets, which are likely to be fraudulent and aim to steal, as there are many new and fraudulent wallets that steal by presenting some offers and inducements that push a person to register

Aside from crypto wallets offering free things for you to try them out there are also fake wallets that impersonate the official ones which is basically a phishing app trying to fool you. These fake wallets are available for download in both Google and Apple Store as they are barely screened by the companies and it is hard to watch out for them not unless you look at their reviews as well as feedbacks from other people. Always check the details of their app page to see if what you are downloading is the official one.

Bitcoin = Financial freedom
Wallets are really not meant to be tested or tried because your funds depends on it and it would be a risk, especially if you put a huge amount of money. It is why before we buy cryptocurrencies we should make sure that the wallet we are about to use is trusted and safe, so we could not worry about our funds.

Since a lot of wallets are now shooting up, a user should be very careful in installing these wallets as most of them will just screw your funds. Not all apps from google play are to be trusted. And most of them will disappear without a trace. So don't be tempted with rewards or bonuses, check for the legitimacy of the wallet.
In my 2 years in cryptoworld the wallets i only use are
FOR BITCOIN
BLOCKCHAIN. COM
So you can expect the error on your wallet at any time, blockchain.com wallet is full of bugs and sometime people never received their authorization emails to login to their wallet which made their funds to lose. You can move to better wallet like electrum if you are not going to store in hundreds of thousands.

Generally, people have different preferences. As recommended, be familiarized using a non-custodial wallet and just used exchange service or web wallet if there's a purpose like buying or selling for convenience.
I agree. Most users are tend to download random apps or wallets. Actually its not bad to use those like trustwallet, enjin and atomic for multi crypto. Just make sure that anyone uses those are only for light usage.

Im not gonna stored my funds to an app that is not trusted. But as Ive used trustwallet it seems very convenient especially if you will connect to a dex like uniswap but remember to transfer fund  to a non custodial after that.

for bitcoin wallet used electrum 100% guaranteed safe. Unless you can download the bitcoin core which is highly recommended.

Why use that types of wallets when you have core wallets . I know maybe it would take few days till your wallet will be synchronized to the blockchain but your funds will be safe

It is better to avoid working with these applications and rely only on old, reliable applications from wallets such as blockchain and coinbas.

Neither blockchain.com nor coinbase are wallets which should be recommended.

You shouldn't recommend any web wallets or custodial wallets at all.
And if you are referring to the open source android wallet by coinbase, it seems like almost no one has looked at the code. So not really recommendable.

There are enough reputable wallets to choose from, i.e. bitcoin core, wasabi and electrum.

I would request all members to stop doing it, if you have then please empty those wallets as you might lose your funds.

I agree you should read independent reviews about a new wallet and also check the people behind their project also check the source of the wallet if you don't know how to read then read reviews about their source code and until they are sure that the new wallet is worthy of the trust of the community you can then proceed using it, but until then go on a more secured wallets.

I have come across couple of posts in recent times where members have been trying random wallets and losing their funds. The reason which I assume is, there might be an offer for downloading the wallet(airdrop) or they were part of a bounty program or they might want to try something new.
Some people may have this problem, moreover for newbies or those who are interested in such a reward by downloading that kind of new wallets. It happens if they only focus on the reward or the advantages of using the new wallet, but they pay no attention on the risks.

Wallets are not meant to be tested or tried.
That's right. Never try any new wallet if you do not know about them exactly. It is for the shake of the security of your funds in that wallet.
However, some people may precisely have willing to test a certain new wallet in order to know their transaction, system, speed, security, fees, and more. However, those must be the one that has had good research and experience on it. In this case, they will probably purposively send certain amount to the new wallet and test it. but if we are not experienced in it, better not to do that.

It is better to always check and research the reviews of the wallet before using it. Or we can also find the information about the wallet in any trusted source.

I would recommend electrum [1] because it's easy to use and safe or hardware wallet (e.g. trezor [2], ledger [3]).

I disagree.
OP actually made a good choice. Wasabi and Samourai are good wallets to recommend.

They do not only support the basic features (like CPFP), but also advanced features electrum does not have (i.e. CoinJoin, PayNyms, ..).
It is way easier to preserve privacy when using Wasabi or Samourai than when using electrum.

However, for newbies.. electrum probably is easier to use and understand.

But IMO we shouldn't recommend newbies a wallet, which heavily invades your privacy, but rather suggest some which actually do something for your privacy.

I like these words. Yes, the wallet can not be tested purpose. It 's always a serious matter and it also a matter of money. So if anybody tries any wallet for testing purposes and store their money in the wallet, it's very risky if it will an unknown wallet.

Here is a topic created by me about the top 50 coins (according to CMC) official wallet links. You may visit there: Top 50 coin's Desktop+Android+iOS wallets . Newbies be aware about fake wallet.

It's not that these bounty participants are using random wallets. There are coin projects that do have their own standalone wallet so it's part of the requirements. Participants have no way to receive their rewards on other wallets. Of course, these people I think will not use the wallet for storing purposes of other cryptos as I mentioned, it's standalone or in case of multi-wallet, I doubt they will deposit some money here since after all, why not just directly send their funds to a trading platform where that coin/token is listed if they want to trade with it.

Generally, people have different preferences. As recommended, be familiarized using a non-custodial wallet and just used exchange service or web wallet if there's a purpose like buying or selling for convenience.

Oh!

I forgot to share the link of the project that made me realize I should create a topic on this board. The link of the topic is - https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.54896856

Use only those wallets that have been recommended here in this forum or those which are trusted globally. If you have any queries about any wallet then ask here in this forum before using them.

As per my suggestion these are the wallets you should use.
