Hi Good day everyone I have an account on https://localbitcoins.com/, I have read some bad things and good things on this website, what do you guys think about this website/wallet?

As you can see  I am new around here so if you can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it a lot Wink

Localbitcoins is good as a p2p exchange platform. Not everyone knows, but it was also good as an online bitcoin wallet. Especially recently, when their wallet fees became lower than virtually any other wallet. Platform combines transactions from many users into one and saves on total fees.

I recommend Localbitcoins to use as one of the most reliable online wallet. Why so? The platform works flawlessly since 2013. Also, the platform earns revenue from people trading on it, so it is not incentivized to exit scam.

Still, it is better to keep serious amounts of bitcoin on your own (preferably hardware) wallet.

Here is a wallet topic explained from user perspective in simple words: https://bitcoins.menu/#bitcoin-wallets-easily-explained

Terminated.
This thread is due a major update, however I have made only a small important update.

Universal Wallets

Copay
Copay is a Bitcoin wallet by Bitpay and available on iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Linux, Max OS X, and Windows. Because Copay is available on multiple platforms, it’s easy to use the same wallet or accounts across multiple devices.
Copay’s simple, clean user interface makes it a good choice for new Bitcoin users. Copay is also a good option for businesses due to a shared account feature, which requires a certain number of users to sign each transaction. Two co-founders, for example, could create a 2 of 2 wallet where both will be required to sign each transaction.

Copay and Bitpay are NOT recommended wallets due to their anti-Bitcoin stance and behaviour (which also includes many terrible technical practices, refusals or intentional delays to implement support for functionality that users could benefit from)..
The backlink to Copay has been removed and they are no longer recommended. In the next update they will go into the list of wallets that are strongly not recommended.

Blockchain.info/Blockchain.com not longer offer the possibility to send to multiple outputs..!
Never ever use such a wallet is the recommended advice. I should work on v2 of this thread.

Yeah, my BTC was once held up at the exchanger, it was suspended due to hacking issues  Cry

First of all, I sincerely thank all who created this thread.  As an amateur I have read this thread thoroughly for a long time.  Previous week attended a course to learn more, but I was not understand to answer some questions.  The answers to many of the questions I had about this trade have just been answered.  So once again I thank you. FYI, Crypto/bitcoin wallet is not for buying and selling bitcoin but a place to store your bitcoin assets. You can buy bitcoin on a bitcoin exchange or buy it directly to individuals.

Sure! I'm aware that a cryptowallet is a storage first of all. Nevertheless, I sometimes need to buy some small amounts via wallet, so I don't really see the point in using cryptoexchanges for that.

While all is pretty clear with hardware wallets as there are just few trustworthy options here, things are too darn hard with choosing a most palatable software wallet. Here are the names that one first comes across when searches for this kind of info: Trust, MEW, Atomic, Exodus, Coinomi, Electrum, Samourai... How to choose? I've kind of got lost in all those names Huh Undecided

Distributed Intelligent IoT Technology

That's only valid for Armory and Bitcoin core. You can use Electrum If you don't want to download the blockchain.

I heard that Electrum at the moment is not the best choice and not reliable. I do not often use Bitcoin, but now I understand that you need to look for a good wallet for it. Since there is already a little money accumulated in Bitcoins.

Desktop Wallets
Desktop wallets are software wallets that are downloaded and installed on your computer. The desktop wallets below are available on Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux.

The desktop wallet is the heaviest and downloading blocks is very long, but in principle I think it is quite reliable and safe. Thanks for such a detailed article. I will try different wallets
