I feel like the number of new coins popping up is really limiting the ability for quality coins to stand out. There's simply too much "noise" in the market. Having said that, I still think the altcoin forum here is the perfect place for info on new coins and their pros/cons

I agree. I think it kinda makes cryptos look a joke. Pretty much all of 'em are just peoples attempts to create get rich quick schemes. Fair enough if you've got a decent/unique idea behind it, but most of these have zero development or marketing behind them.

http://www.wheretomine.com/ I knew there were a lot of alts, but I didn't even realise there were this many.
New coins are released daily. It's a great opportunity to be the first to mine - but only a few of those coins will ever be worth anything.

I dont see this is a problem, I like mining with my GPU with a profit by selling for Bitcoin.
As long as there are people willing to buy the altcoins, I will be GPU mining with a profit

Hi,
Noob question here - Is there some kind of thread / blog / website that has the info for new alt coins releases (and is updated the same hour / day)?
I find it useful to mine new alt coins the minute they are released as this seems to work well profit-wise (just like the amazing DogeCoin Smiley )

Thanks

How much profit did you made from dogecoin? And how? Since i don't think there is anyone that will ever buy dogecoins  Tongue

Many people buy dogecoins now

And they pay with what? Quarks?  Roll Eyes

Ugh tell me about it. I WISH I could mine as well as I did even yesterday.

I got about 30k without trouble yesterday in a few hours and didn't mine too seriously. Barely got 30k since last night; left it going overnight and have been mining all morning. It's considerably harder to get doge, though to be fair I only have a 200 kh set up.

Funny enough, this coin was easy to mine in its first few days, and it's value has risen from 10 satoshis to 30 satoshis!
Much Profit!

There's no use making few bucks, if you are in it aim BIG. Since you had the luck to mine them in its early stage, feel privileged.
You might email big exchanges like Vircurex, Cryptsy and BTC-e to start trading DOGE.

I mined 400,000 with 70 Kh/s btw

How did you manage to mine so much? Did you mine much earlier? I'm barely getting 5K an hour with the current difficulty with 200 Kh/s.

ajax & hax -

Are you mining solo or in a pool?

I'm really trying to decide if I should hold my Dogecoins or trade into Litecoin. I see Dogecoins rising in value today since the difficulty is literally already twice what it was yesterday. The downside is, I wouldn't be able to mine a decent amount of Dogecoins afterward if I do. Maybe trade half into Litecoin? I only managed to mine about 50k with my crappy hashes (about 200kh on scrypt-based coins). What do you guys think I should do? I'd like to profit a little short term so I can invest more in long term.

You might as well hold them and hope they gain in profit. You won't get much for them at the moment.

Forget about your DOGe wallet, and forget you had any. You'd get about 0.01BTC for those 50k, so think of it this way, can it change your life the 0.01 BTC, it cannot.

So, instead hold it, imagine what would happen if it hits just $1, how rich you would be

Hold all of them. Don't forget that this coin is barely a week old. Even though it was created as a joke, people seem to really like it, so dogecoins might be added to exchanges in about 2-3 weeks. Once that happens the price will rise, I even dare to say that the price could tenfold. You still won't get much with 50k, it's pretty much nothing. But it's a really great opportunity to try out trading etc.

there is a new coin almost every day
I think this fact is a problem, it reduces the viability of each as another is created. Surely in this case less is more?

There is list with scam coins, which are not so populair.
I have no idea when it was last updated
