I think the scariest part about the current Diff (or the next jump, which is projected at 1,468,080,298 at the moment) is that this is all happening WITHOUT Cointerrra shipping a thing.. they're delayed and we're still jumping like this.

Just wait till that floodgate opens... can you say 200% month for a while?

In Q1 and Q2 we will probably see a couple of 100% doubles to difficulty. Maybe coming out of July at 5 billion or so? That means that to keep mining what you are mining now you better have plans to 5x your hash power in the next 6 months. Things will level off when home based miners have to start adding lots of extra electrical infrastructure to their homes to increase has rate.

Damn, that's high difficulty alright.
Assuming +30%, next difficulty is going to be ~ 1,535,200,153.5.

Well our Jupiter (which we got Dec 9th) at 650 GHs is just earning .26 BTC a day with today's difficulty.  Still we'll be even in 5 days, and even though our electrical bill has gone up $100 our heating bill has dropped $50 so all is good while it's winter ...   We got lucky, ordered our KNC Nov 8th and got it a month later.   At 10 billion difficulty in 6 months does even a THs miner make any sense?  Quien Sabe?

Where did all this hashrate come from?  Is this BFL "testing" all their Monarch's before they ship them?

I'll eat my hat if a Monarch ships ever. The Monarch was the perfect scam to convince people already running GPU rigs to hand over money thinking they're going to switch over to ASIC.

Don't spend the money to try mining BitCoin now, it is too late.  Either buy and sell BTC on its highs and lows, or mine LiteCoin or FeatherCoin, both of which can be done on GPU farms.  ASICs aren't available for Scrypt coins.

are there already 21 million bitcoins out there?

so its never to late to start mining, ASICS will drop in price

With this information in hand what would you need to get into the game and make a dent? Like what would be the minimum strength of a mining machine to get a decent return.

Infinite? I think you would be best off just buying BTC.

Of course the manufacturers are "testing" their ASICs!  And they are collecting lots of BTC from their "testing" too!  I've said all this before.

While the fiat price for 1 BTC is dropped by 40%, USD 600+. Why people keep mining this one? There must be a reason. Perhaps the 1,000 M is still low difficulty?

We now have '7' more hours left to determine if it is suitable to keep up.

Just to be clear, so i know what i am "or think" i know what i am talking about, it would now take a solo miner 1 billion+ shares to complete 1 block and submit it to the network.. correct?

Consistent with the 30% growth per cycle.  Will stay like this through Q2 of 2014 most likely.
