What's Quirky In Life?

Bitcoin is already being "centralized" by miners from China. What miners want is ASIC resistant coin that can create value, not the other way round. You can see there are a number of potential for BTG fork. Lots of miners will jump in and mine BTG due to it's decentralized factor.

i think BTG is a quick pump and dump.

People will get it for free, see it pump and sell it.

Personally i'd do the same and put the money back into Bitcoin.

How to get Bitcoin Gold? Is it the same as Bitcoin Cash wherein if you have 1 Bitcoin you will get 1 Bitcoin Cash? What exchange sites and wallet providers support it? I think it is just another scheme plotted by those whales to get another FREE Money. They are just making a reason to earn more from what they already have without sweating a shit!

Amazing how the speculation of GOLD has increased the price of BITCOIN. All as a result of "free" BTH, before that fork everyone was selling their Bitcoins for fear they may loose them all.

I dont see GOLD going anywhere. It maydo if it gets listed by the big exchanges....but for how long?

The main goal of BitcoinGold (BTG) is to become a beter reserve of value. The best way, choose to achive this, is to centralize the Btc mining, changing the (proof-of-wor) algoritme. To reach that, there is a need of an hard fork, implement the new BTG algoritme. Equihash was the one choose for this, doe to his strong ASICs resistance. Equihash is also the algoritme used on the alt-coin Zcash.

When Bitcoin Cash came out, we already saw something happening. Miners switching hashrate to mine profitable coin, then switching back to Bitcoin whose difficulty rate actually dropped for the first time in ages. Now with Bitcoin GOld AND GPU mining, we can expect to see the same patterns with even bigger profitability, depending on how it performs on exchanges of course. And with Ethereum fork coming, a lot of homeless miners...

I'd like to hope it would not be just new shitcoin because it's very good ethereum substitute at mining.

It would be just another shitcoin like bitcoin cash.We clearly know that only big whales got huge profits by pumping and dumping BCH and some people who had store their bitcoins in bittrex exchange which supported the BCH and got some extra cash.

Frequent hard forks are not good for the reputation of bitcoin and it may create an uncertainty among new investors about bitcoin.

Just some people want to make some quick cash and doing such hard forks and they totally forget the benefits which they got from bitcoins.

Here some information about BitcoinGold project which plans to be forked 25 October. The main aim is to make bitcoin decentralized as it should be. Mining algorithm is equihash (like at ZEC).

Official site: http://btcgpu.org/
Twitter: https://twitter.com/btcgpu
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/btcgpu

I've just heard the news and make this post here. I'm not related to this project.

Will they be success? Let's share opinions.

This fork looks more and more like a bad idea or a scam. Beware if no replay protection guys. :/

The era of hardforking BTC has begun. I expect to see multiple hard forks over the next handful of quarters, just a way to try and make some free dough. Its like, "Hey! holders of BTC get a bonus!" The good thing is right after the fork, holders of BTCG will dump their coin and use that free money to invest into altcoin. There will be a nice alt pump afterwards.

How would a Newbie purchase some bitcoinGold when it becomes available?

What price would it start at?

you wait until the new altcoin is listed on some exchange, then if you don't already have an account in those exchanges you sign up and deposit some money/bitcoin to buy that altcoin.

what the price will be depends on the demand. it is impossible to give any opinion right now. it can be anything from 1000 satoshi up to 0.1 bitcoin.
In my opinion, the price of new BitcoinGold not high like Bitcoin Cash.
What do you think about a chance airdrop free a huge money can repeat in a short time (only 3 months)?
Any fork is pretty useful for the market. It is some kind of quantitative easing, which used in classic economics in order to lower interest rates and increase the money supply.

I do not see any added value by this project. Is this just an attempt to get free money just like what happened with bitcoin cash? This is a bad trend if hf keeps happening to bitcoin.

ah, this changes things a little.
if there were no premine crap like this, i could have seen this coin to be a nice option for pump and dumps and consequently as a good option for mining too. but depending on what they are going to do with that huge amount of premine things can go different ways.

Just part of the evolution of Bitcoin,  not all altcoins would make it and probably wouldn't last for next few years.

i like this thign because it promote gpu mining and not stupid asic, but i think the value will not be higher than the bitcoin cash couterpart, and i don't like equihash as main algo, it's very minable by fpga and can be mined by asic in the future if bitcoingold become big enough
