April Fool's Day is really fun. To fool people, the Powerglove designed a different one that actually fooled people. I myself was in a lot of fear but after going to the capture link I realized then in just one post I was able to fill the captcha but then it got more difficult. Later gave a target of 49. Since then nothing has been possible and I was disappointed myself.

We're still in the month of April and I'm still not sure if the April fool's day is over...
What a funny day.

This thread topic should be "DEFEAT PowerGlove FLAPPY BIRD"
😂

PowerGlove has morphed into the bird now?  Shocked

I have tried different ways to be able to solve the captcha and what I did is to align the bird from the top of the obstacle in the bottom side but right now it already ended. I was hoping to be able to play it here in Bitcointalk for fun when you are resting for a bit before continue posting again. Maybe theymos will add new page or board for that game alone or more like a place where we have fun for a moment (Like a canteen if you are in school before going to a class). There are free website where it generates codes automatically that can be added in a website like tetris.

So, invariably, it means this service is now defunct 🤔. Won't keeping this thread open continually lead to spamming here?

Nope, the course has now lapsed its promotional period and has reverted to the regular one-time price of $2000  Wink

Side note - I actually hate expensive, useless courses - which actually constitutes most of the courses in existence - just because it gives the author a freefall to making obscene amounts of money without actually teaching you anything new - this entire thread was intended to be satire to online courses.

Now the main question is where is the bird now? I was hoping I could play it again yesterday. I thought it would run for a week, so I didn't continue playing after I was drunk early that day.

By chance, it was nice to have a page with the game for those who want to play it once in a while.

@PowerGlove you can create a page, since you developed the game.  Roll Eyes

when free falling did the bird accelerate due to gravity, like so many pixels per second squared or something? i do remember getting pretty good hang time on occasion and wondered how fast it was going when it finally cratered.
Yep, there's a little gravity simulation going on.

The internal framebuffer is 176x128 pixels. Gravity pulls down on the bird at around 0.05 pixels per "tick" squared, where a tick is ~16.7 milliseconds. When a flap input is received, any accumulated velocity is canceled out and replaced with a 35 G impulse upwards.

A fall from the top of the screen to the bottom terminates with the bird's velocity at around 4 pixels per tick. The bird is 7 pixels high, so that's about 34 birds per second. Assuming the bird is a chonky 12 inches (I know mine is) we're talking around 23 mph. Of course, if you fly high above the pipes then you can build up more impressive velocities. One regret I have is not finding the time to include any easter eggs, I wish I'd hidden a secret level below the floor that could only be accessed by crashing through it at >= 100 mph. Maybe next time.

Follow up question, what is the purpose of those coins? are there any easter egg reward or can we exchange those coins to something? I have missed a couple of times when I was trying to beat 99 laps coz the coins keep moving and I didn't bother that much since my goal is to finish the captcha/game, and then I saw the scoreboard yesterday with the accumulated coins. Maybe there is some sort of swap or reward?

what is this "brake pedal" you speak of?
Of course, if anyone has gamedev questions about bird physics or sprite blitting, etc. then I'm happy to provide answers.

@PowerGlove Are you going to open source the game after the joke's done?
While theymos has given me permission to do so, I'm conflicted about that.

The code is pretty dense, only sparsely commented, and relies on a project-specific build system. Dynamically typed languages are very much my "second tongue" (most of my background is in embedded systems) so the JavaScript is quite unidiomatic. During development, I only really had theymos in mind and not the wider world, so it would take some effort on my end to cut a release that I would be happy to share.

It's also conceivable that parts of the project might get reused in the future and with forum members like you and TryNinja about, I don't want to be too forthcoming, if you know what I mean? Grin

Maybe because I’m using a mobile phone to make post. I tried solving the captcha several times but the bird keeps falling and crash, I can’t even control the movement of the bird. Once I touch my phone screen, the bird will just whip to crash land. I give up since it’s just an April fool!

Edit: I finally got 1 coin but it required 13 coins.

Nah, I was too lazy to solve this one, in the process of solving other captchas.

You actually made a "how to play" thread for an obvious April fool joke  Grin? I guess I never realized how much effort some users put into solving this. I'm only now seeing the game interface for the first time because I never bothered to try to figure out the captcha. The last IQ test April fool was goated.

I'm not claiming to be a pro in this game but I feel theymos has just made me discover my hidden talent, and in case yall are having issues completing the captcha after going through NotATether's tutorial you can just spend 1 minute of your time to watch this tutorial it's quite detailed and it tells you when you should click and when not to click.

None of this, he did not solve, so as not to show his true abilities!

I do the same! No one here on the forum has to know that I am an expert in this type of games! Cool
