The trick would be to retain users and not just to require them. What can your site offer that are unique over other similar chat sites? I know we had a site where people received "Gems" or some sort of token for their contributions, that they could sell for bitcoins, but I cannot even find it anymore.

I prefer to use sites that deal directly with Bitcoin and not these silly pump 'n dump Alt coins. ^hmmmmm^

I also checked out your website and noticed that you need to get people signing up.  Your challenge is going to be the marketing.  It is always hard work finding distribution channels in the correct niche for advertising.  Another member offered a suggestion where you create an incentive to members.  I think that this is a good idea.

Well the site is new, you will not find people there right away. But consider it an option to talk with other bt members.
Also, the first 1000 memberships are free for life, after that its $1.99 every year.

I'll be happy to see you guys over at: http://peoplechatting.com/topic/bitcoin, you don't have to sign up, to view conversations, but if you'd like to chat, you will need to create an account.

I say congratulations on launch chat sites which can be paid using bitcoin, but unfortunately paid I hope can be free from the beginning, if so will attract visitors even more, because bitcoin users for now I guess it's not so much,

Chat rooms are very difficult. This one guy here had one that paid out in bitcoins per minute you were online. 10 satoshi per minute.
His website was nice looking and had an nice interface and profile avatar and all the fancy things and that site rarely has anyone on it.

I have a similar situation where chat in my game has the ability to pay out to people through rain/tips. I have a few abuse mechanisms in place, banning, ignoring, etc. I've been playing with a shoutdown function, that kind works like a community mod for reputation. Paying a mod is somewhat unrealistic in my case, but mods get rewarded with additional rain.

Ignore the critics.Your project has potential if it can somehow control the trolls and link promoters.Takes me back to the yahoo messenger days, this is something very similar. As Vod suggested,an additionally faucet or in chat games to earn bitcoins will attract more users.Without marketing, all the efforts are in vain.

You know what would be awesome?
If you not only provide rooms for chat but also allow people to share unique URL enabling them to engage in private conversation in face to face manner.
I feel like we lack place where we can invite people to chat without sharing our personal information/Skype/Facebook.

Hey guys, I created a chatting website called PeopleChatting.com. It will eventually be a paid service but for early adopters it will be permanently free. Once the minimum number of people join, it will have a yearly fee, which they can pay with bitcoins or experiencecoins.

I just launched it, and I figured I'd post it here and give this community the first chance to grab up some of the free memberships.

Its just been released, and you might find bugs, if you do let me know, or if you have any suggestions or feedback.

Thanks

Sorry to say that this website of your will surely fail and besides i could say that there nothing unique on your website on which its really a common site for me and there are some websites are much better and regarding with the fee it will surely kill your site off.

I don't follow the selling point of your site. Why would anyone pay to chat there when there's tons of free alternatives? What makes it special? What users are you targeting? Where's the value? Tons of unanswered questions.

A lot of sites had to do this, because the traffic from and to these just gets out of hand. The bandwidth cost has to be paid by someone and it

also gets attention from people who wants to advertise on platforms with huge traffic. So they either have the option to accept these

advertisers and lose members or they have to get this revenue from other sources.... hence the membership fee. { Ad free }  Wink

I don't think many will find your service useful, you haven't explained what is extra ordinary in your platform than any other forum or reddit.

All members are equal.
There are no moderators amongst members.
How you gonna fight against spam if you will not hire any mod, do you think you alone can check all post in future when your platform will grow big.

And also the idea of membership price keep growing with number of members in platform seems over speculation only.

Its hard getting traffic

No kidding.  I went there and there is no one in any of the rooms.  I probably won't go back...

You should combine the chat rooms with a faucet.  Give random people little bits of coin at random times.  Charging people to use your chat will not fly.

Also, you should allow us to visit the rooms and read the chats without logging in.  Once force a user to login if they want to post.

This is good idea. Honestly i personally disagree to any charge just chatting, when there are a lot chat platform have any discussion, i will choose a free one.

For kill spammer purpose is good idea, but with charge some buck it's hard to get attention, how if there are spammer, just banned their static IP?

Chat websites themselves aren't too popular.
There are a lot of them in existence but very few have an active daily user base.
I'm not sure how successful a chat website will be but I know that there is demand for a well add chat mobile application.
Either way, good luck with your project! Smiley

Great feedback.

Are you saying the price in general is over prices or for a specific number? $1.99 for the 1001-1000 people for one year seems very reasonable, maybe I should increase the free membership up to 1000, then $1.99 from 1001-10k?

As far as reports go, I will be review them myself and making sure that the reports are valid, nothing will take place unless someone gets 3+ reports.

The design is very simply, I was hoping to keep it that way, maybe change the color around?

Prices are both unfair and overpriced in general , those who came late should have the same opportunity as those who came early and trust me , increasing the range won't do much , I mean If it ever happens and your website become popular you will probably have some intelligent BOTS created by some kids to register multiple times and that may screw the chances of the other users.
Reports are another problem If it happens and you have big userbase , someone could simply call his friends and report on post and voila , three reports...
In general , you may want to think on the design of both reporting and registration systems. If I were you , I would make the registration for free and a way to upgrade later for other benefits such as having colorful usernames or a rank like in Bitcointalk.
